Do your own due diligence and make informed decisions. Summary: - Check them out if you want smart low-cost people managing your retirement dollars - $50,000 minimum (sadly) to start an account - Low expense / high transparency asset management - Very open about what they do and why they do it - Your money is held in a custodial account at Charles Schwab & Co. - Even if you have no intention of being a customer, the website has excellent info I remember reading Scott Burns' columns in the Boston Globe ages ago and got interested in his new company when my Dad sent me a link. Scott Burns is probably best known for creating and talking up his simple "couch potato portfolio" (google it for info...) back in the days when it was hard for an individual investor to find diversity and low fees . I am not anything close to rich/wealthy but I've been stuffing my retirement accounts to the max since my first job out of college and ended up with a number of 401K and SIMPLE-IRA accounts along the way. Eventually all of the "old" accounts were consolidated into a single Rollover IRA held at Charles Schwab. Started reading the AssetBuilder blog posts and forums and got sold on their transparency and fixation on low cost and managed risk. They are transparent enough on their website/blog/forum that an independent investor could simply copy their published methods without signing up as a customer. The tipping point for me was learning that they keep client money in custodial accounts at Charles Schwab. Since my Rollover IRA was already there it felt like I was letting smarter people manage my money for less than I was paying in the hidden mutual fund fees and transaction costs. Now in the post-Maddof scam era this is even more important. While AssetBuilder may make trades on my behalf, all my statements and account info are serviced directly by Schwab & schwab.com. The separation of "management" vs. "holding" is a good thing in my opinion. Just my $.02 of course, I'm not rich or even a particularly savvy investor. I just like AB because I've found the fixation on low-cost & high transparency to be very refreshing.

It can take courage to stay in when the bottom drops out the market and Brian guided me through the choppy waters and I'm certainly seeing a great result from the turn around in the market. I just had my annual meeting and he gave me advice on rebalancing my portfolio and worked on future strategies for maximizing my investments within the strategies I'm comfortable with. Brian not only looks at the investments with Edward Jones but he will also take time to look at my 401K and other outside investments. I never feel pressured to dump all my money into one basket. As far as Edward Johns as a company, they are consistently listed high for investor satisfaction and recently were 6th on Fortune's best places to work, so they must be doing something right. You never see them in the news for the wrong reasons. The meetings are never rushed and Marsha, the office manager, is well on the ball by confirming appointments a couple of days in advance, making sure paperwork is ready to sign, and promptly sending out documents that need my attention. If you think it's too late to invest, think again or maybe you don't earn enough to put some away for your future or your current financial advisor isn't giving you the time and attention you deserve, give Brian a call and I'm sure he'll be able to help you and point you in the right direction.

Max was professional, respectful, and thorough. He took the time to carefully observe and troubleshoot the problems rather than rushing through the visit. His experience in his trade is evident. He methodically assessed the issues and worked to ensure repairs were completed to the best of his ability. I understand that some maintenance issues can result from normal wear and breakdowns. Having worked in property management myself for many years, I know firsthand how critical it is to have dependable and skilled contractors when overseeing other people's investments. Max represents the level of professionalism I always looked for when I was managing properties. He was courteous, kind, communicative, and conscientious -- and he cleaned up after completing his work, which speaks volumes about his standards. It is difficult to find reliable, detail-oriented professionals in this field, and I sincerely hope Omni Key continues to retain him. Good contractors are hard to come by. Thank you, Max, for the effort you put into your work and for taking the time to address the issues properly. Your professionalism made a difference. While my broader experience has been challenging and the delay in sending someone caused significant concern, I want to ensure that individual excellence is acknowledged when it is earned.
