They appear to be religious (Christian) based as they are not open Sundays, like many stand-alone thrift stores. I've often also seen them staffed by Mennonites - fairly common in the Wooster area. The store is clean and well stocked with a variety of things. I always dig through the arts and crafts stuff and pull out cards for birthdays and holidays. I've found piles of yarn and gifted them to my older family members who are into knitting. Prices are great, as you'd expect from thrift stores, but seem even better here than at others.. Staff has always been friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, allowing for you to take your time and dig for unique finds and "treasures". However, I've found more unique items and deals at other thrift stores like Goodwill than here, usually.

My husband got an amazing Indians jersey there one year that fit him perfectly. The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop is one of my regular thrift store stops. Located in a…read morestrip of shops on W. Market you will find one of the nicest upscale thrift stores. The shop is medium sized, nowhere near some of the big stores, but what you will find is really high quality items at a great price. The Discovery Shop has a nice if not huge selection of clothes, they have just recently expanded the men's area in the back to allow for more variety. Most of the items are high end and usually very current. Where the Discovery Shop really shines is the selection of art, decor and interesting items. It seems that they get more upscale donations then most thrift stores, plus they are raising money for a great cause. Other items include books, media, all kinds of kitchenware, plates, glasses and jewelry. Prices are reasonable, what makes it even better is that they have a 50% discount color every week and the last weekend of each month the entire store is 50% off. Over the years I have found some really nice sports coats and a number of carved wood items at the Discovery Shop. Well worth a stop to check out if you are looking for some great items at good prices, plus it is great to support the American Cancer Society. I also want to shout out the volunteers at the Discovery Shop, they are always friendly and helpful and the store is well set up, organized and attractive.

Even a few golf clubs in a bin. Beyond that, it's a fairly even split between furniture and hardware/tools. If you're trying to build a house from the ground up, this is a great place to start for cheap. They have everything from wood and nails to finishing touches like paint and light fixtures. To be honest, I didn't even make it into building #2, marked "building materials" and with several doors leaning up against the outside. I imagine that's where you'd truly get your start. In all, this is really just the retail leg of the bigger picture of what Habitat does. It can be humbling to visit and learn that we don't need a full set of matching appliances or a Dwell magazine-worthy home to truly live life. It puts the basics back into perspective.

The decorative pillow department is way too much, too many pillows taking up a lot of floor space that could be used for other items. They haven't updated their home decor department in quite a while and their wall hanging department has become very run of the mill and bland. Still, overall a great store, love shopping here, but they often run out of carts on Saturday afternoons----so bring your own, I guess. They never seem to be worried about it.
