I'm a relatively new thrift shopper--I only started within the last year--and I am officially obsessed! Thrifting is seriously addicting, and I honestly wish I had started years ago because I probably would've saved a lot more money!
I don't thrift to resell. I mainly thrift for work clothes for myself and clothes for my daughter, and I love finding good-quality items at a fraction of the original price. This was my first time visiting this particular Goodwill location, and overall, it was a pretty standard Goodwill compared to other locations throughout Rhode Island.
They do have the color-of-the-week promotion, where items with the designated color tag are 50% off, which is always a great deal. However, I did notice that the prices at this location seemed a little higher than some of the other Goodwill locations I shop at. For example, baby and toddler clothing (12 months through T) at other locations I visit is usually around $3-$4, and with the color-of-the-week discount, you can get some pieces for around $2. Here, I noticed many tags were $5-$6, with some items priced as high as $10.
I could understand those prices for higher-end brands, but a lot of the clothing I saw was Carter's, so I personally didn't purchase any of the baby/toddler clothes this time. I did notice they had a pretty large selection of baby and toddler clothing, which may be because the higher prices make those items move a little slower. At other locations, the baby and toddler sections can be picked over pretty quickly because the prices are lower.
That being said, the store itself was clean, organized, and easy to shop. The staff was friendly, and one thing I really appreciated was how peaceful it was! A lot of Goodwill locations can feel chaotic, with people coming in and out and everyone searching for the best deals. I visited on a Monday morning, and it was relatively quiet, which made browsing much more enjoyable.
Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back. I just hope the pricing on some of the baby and toddler clothing becomes a little more competitive with the other Rhode Island locations. read more
