The one star is based off the employee rounding my amount up without my consent. When I asked her why, she said it was because it included Pennies which have been discontinued but my 2 family members who went to the other cashier did not have the "round up" fee. All of us paid with cards and not cash. And the other male cashier did not charge my 2 family members the round up fee, only the female cashier that rang me up Sat 12/20 at 5:43PM. I did call the store to leave a message for the manager. To date, I have not received a call back. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this location unless you want the cashier to randomly add a round up charge to your order. read more

Probably the most disorganized thrift store I've ever been to. Every shelf that wasn't clothing had random items scattered everywhere with no order and with some items on the floor too. Would not recommend anyone coming here. read more

These donation-only spots are a a great way to get things out of your home without the temptation to buy more to bring into it. This particular location has been known in the past to close earlier than their posted hours, so make sure to get there well before closing time. Sometimes a very polite and friendly worker will come out and get your donations from your vehicle, and sometimes you get one who doesn't speak to you. In either case, you should get out anyway and help or direct them because otherwise, they will take everything in your trunk or backseat. Sometimes, especially if it's raining or cold, nobody will come out to help, and every now and then, somebody will stand just inside the door regardless of the weather and just watch you bring your stuff in, even if you're struggling with it. read more

My go-to thrifting spot! I've been shopping and donating to this Goodwill location for 5+ years, and I have never been disappointed. The clothing and other goods are organized well and there's plenty of space to browse to your heart's content. I frequently stop by looking for random items for school or Girl Scout related projects, T-shirts for my rather rowdy and quick-growing daughter, and other miscellaneous things. This was the first Halloween since moving to Lancaster that we didn't stop by for a costume piece or another, but over the years, I've made some perfect, random finds including: -- Lamp shades -- Replacement attachment for my Kitchen Aid stand mixer -- Leopard print leggings -- Grim Reaper robe -- Very difficult Doctor Who puzzle Donations have moved around to the back of the building, which I find more convenient. There are plenty of bins where you can deposit things yourself, but if you need a receipt or help moving things, there's generally someone at the loading dock to assist. During the pandemic, I've found that employees wear their masks and the donation staff generally keep their distance unless you request assistance. read more

Let's preface this by saying that my wife has dragged me to more Goodwill stores than I can shake a used pocket book at. And, ut is partly morbid intrigue of the odd- whether clothing or people- that keeps me coming back. So when I had 90 minutes to kill, this Goodwill was the target of my entertainment scrutiny. I have been here on many other occasions, but this visit prompted a response from me. Amusement levels were high, as were annoyance levels. Let's put this menage of emotions into a bullet point fashion, for those who like things laid out logically. 1. Pro- lots and lots of merchandise. Plentiful, abundant, effervescent bounty. Lots. 2. Cons- Lots, because it is wildly disorganized and hard to find what you need. Want a pair of tan khakis in 30x30? Let's look through 75 pairs, finding the tag inside, one at a time. All assorted by color, none by size. Same goes for jeans, t shirts, dress shirts, underware, you name it. Find a color and look for your size. Newsflash...every other Goodwill in PA is organized by size. I can find my size and see what I like. Such a simpleconcept, yet so much more work for employees who don'twant to work, or can't figure the system out. 3. Con- The buffoon who comes on the PA 60 minutes before closing to announce the closing. Message is repeated every 5-10 minutes. Obviously he wants you to leave 60 minutes before closing. Either he doesn't understand how closing times work, or he doesn't understand how closing times work. Meanwhile, there may be 10 people trying to check out with a single cashier, but still he squawks from some remote corner of the store. Want to get people out? Take their money and let them leave! 4. Cons- all housewares are also arranged by color. I am surprised books aren't also. A system clearly organized by a kindergarten student. 5. Pro- it is amusing, and there are deals to be had! This store is the most bizarre in Lancaster...which makes it half the fun!!! read more

This is a huge Goodwill location with plenty of parking. Be careful going on Sat afternoon the place was PACKED There are tons of items to choose from and the prices are fair. They have a kitchen section, book section, clothing along with fitting rooms. Will I be back? Sure read more

I travel a lot and make it a point to visit the goodwills and thrift shops of different towns. Out of all the thrift shops I've been too on the east coast, this one had one of the best selections and was very reasonably priced. I spent over 2 hours in the store. I absolutely love this Goodwill. The employees are helpful, the racks are always fully stocked. I've never left empty handed. The only issue I have is how unbelievably full the racks are packed, so packed that you can't even look through sometimes. The Goodwill on Willow street is the opposite and I'm wondering if they are able to transfer clothing over to them. But regardless will continue to shop here just wish they wouldn't put so many items out at once. It makes looking nearly impossible at times. read more

The Goodwill store is large and organized pretty effectively, and the selection was better than the other Goodwills in the Lancaster area. What makes this center really interesting is the outlet center next door. I had heard stories of Goodwill Outlets, but this was the first I went to, and it lived up to the hype. While I didn't find anything worth purchasing (and figure that might be the norm) it is interesting that your purchase consists of items by weight. This can definitely lead to some solid deals down the line, but we'll see what sort of selection at the outlet is viable to buy for household use. So far, after only a few visits I've had good experiences here and would continue to come. read more

This is a review of this Goodwill's Outlet Store, also known as the "Bargain Room", or even more specifically, the "50 Cent Goodwill". A reference not to the hip hop artist, but rather to the price of its clothing. However, in this economic climate of rising gas, milk, and beer prices it was inevitable that Goodwill Outlet prices would go up as well, and they did...by 25 cents. All clothing at this location is now 75 cents. Jackets are $2.00, and pairs of shoes are $1.50. With such low prices, and the possibilities of finding that one-in-a-lifetime deal there's no way this place shouldn't receive AT LEAST three stars. However, with such low prices, you are going to have to work to get that deal. No hangers or hooks are to be found in the "75 cent Goodwill". Just bins. About 60 or so bins filled with heaping piles of unfolded clothing, indiscriminate to both age and gender categorization. Unlike some thrift stores, it is strongly advised that you prepare yourself prior to visiting this location. Upper body strength is a MUST. Something like 100 push ups a day, or maybe a couple reps at the bench press. You're going to need all of the muscle you can get to adequately sift through the masses of clothing you'll encounter. You're also going to need to bring some accessories. A surgical mask is recommended, but I've seen people wearing rubber gloves as well. This is due to the amount of musty scented dust that rises into your nose and/or lungs every time you lift a big grouping of clothing. Now, that's just one star off. The next is due to the variety of clothing available. If your fashion sense is that of a grandmother in the mid-90's then you're in luck! There are tons of appropriate items awaiting you. If your style is more akin to an infant from the late 70's then you'll also find many pieces of clothing to your liking. However, if your clothing desires are anything else but these two, then I bet you may be able to come away with one (maybe two if you're lucky) things that you'll enjoy. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it isn't. I personally found my favorite shirt in the world here. (A comfy yellow polyester tee with a cat on it that says "Meower Power"). I've also found a pair of converse in pretty good condition. Considering the price, it was definitely worth the muscle pain and inhaling all of that mold. read more

Never met a Goodwill I didn't like and this one is no exception. What's different about this location vs the other in the area is this one has the "outlet" next door. If you are unfamiliar with this concept disregard everything you know when you think of an outlet. Here an outlet consists of huge bins on wheels (like the kind commercial laundries use) filled with all the discarded items Goodwill can't take, doesn't sell, didn't sell, or is too big and takes up too much room. You sort thru the bins (which is rather disgusting so bring gloves or hand sanitizer) and you pay for items per pound, which usually amounts to mere pennies for clothing. Bigger items like furniture are priced individually. All donated furniture and bigger items end up here. With that being said you do need to sort through alot of junk to find a keeper. But I go here on the regular and have NEVER left empty handed. I am still trying to figure out the rhythm or reason to why many items end up here. For example: I have found new clothing items with tags that never made it to the Goodwill store. Some things are more obvious like baby equipment - you never find walkers, strollers, tubs in the store because they end up here. Mismatched toys are here. Bigger items or seasonal are here. Lots of things - good or bad - are in those bins. They have things from every dept; clothing, shoes, baby supplies, cards, toys, kitchen, glassware, etc - anything and everything can be found in those bins if you come back on the regular. But it's no secret. You are in competition for the items. Imagine yourself as a scavenger just like the many other people going thru the bins and when they bring a new bin out all hell can and does break loose at times. I once saw a woman nose dive in the bins for packs of diapers which she ended up paying .11 cents a pack for!!! If I would have had a need for diapers at that time I would have dove in with her!! .11 cents for diapers?!? Who wouldn't! But that was the only time I saw baby diapers there, adult diapers often but baby diapers are rare. Keep in mind....you can't return items here. There's only one cashier. You can't try things on. If you see something you like you'd better grab it and sort thru your loot to make final selection before check out or it will be gone. You can use credit cards here and since the "real" Goodwill is next door if you don't find it here head next door. But if you're like me, check here first. You just never know what treasure you will uncover. Just remember to wash your hands afterwards...... read more

this review is for the bargain bins change in price. they now weigh everything, instead of pricing books and shoes individually. if you want to shop for these items, you will get a better deal in the store if it has the 50 percent off color of the week tag. skip the bargain bins unless you want clothes. that's still a deal. i shopped yesterday and my 5 books would have been $2.25 under the old system. they priced them at over $10! definitely not a good deal! I visited the donation center yesterday to drop off some items. The staff at the donation center was very friendly and helpful. After he saw me walking back and forth, he told me that I could stop in front of the donation center's door in future so they can help me to unload the items. I thought that it was a really nice touch. Look forward to bringing back more stuff as we declutter. read more

I have been frequenting this Goodwill location for several years now, and I used to be able to find a lot of great things for really low prices. My boyfriend and I almost completely furnished our apartment with items from various Goodwills, we got our dining room table from this one for 50 bucks, new, originally from Target. It came with two chairs and everything! Anyway, over the past few years their prices have started rise, it doesn't seem like anyone who works there even cares a slight bit about the appearance of the store, and don't even get me started about their bathrooms. As far as their shelves for housewares and such, items are 9 times out of 10 just strewn across the shelf, you seriously have to DIG to find everything. The clothing racks that are labeled to be "individually priced" just seem to consist of whatever they could not fit on their appropriate racks, and are so jammed tight that you cannot even begin to pull something out to take a look without battling the actually clothing rack they are hanging on. The bathrooms...the bathrooms. The last time I went in was 2 days ago (and it has always been this way), the handicapped stall had toilet paper left in it, and when I tried to flush it, it would not flush. One of the stalls was unavailable, due to a traffic cone in front of it, and a giant "X" shape made out of caution tape over the door. The middle regular stall had feces stains, on both sides of the stall walls, about 3 ft high, and the stall I had to resort to using had some feces stains on the left side, and the toilet seat had some stains on it that could not be removed with a piece of wet toilet paper. Needless to say, this place used to be great, and I don't know what happened that made it so disgusting, but I am extremely disappointed, seeing as I live within 5 miles of the place and I love going to thrift stores. read more

The main store is neat, clean and organized. Large dressing rooms and a decent selection of clothes, shoes and books. I really don't like the Goodwill philosophy of pricing every item the same. The tanks and shirts prices seem high to me. My only issue was the fact that they only have one register. The bleeps in front of me had 1001 separate purchases and we're making buying decisions on every single item,. The first rule of thrifting is, weed out what you don't want before you get to the register! Ain't no one got time for that. The bargain part of the store where you pay by the pound was pretty fierce. All they have are these super-sized shopping carts that could fit a family of 4 in them. Makes it hard to move around and not block everyone else. The bins with shoes were making people a little cray-cray so I avoided it. Picked up a pair of real UGGs, a dress and a few no name pocketbooks for resale. read more

I totally was not impressed with this Goodwill. Except for the clothes, *nothing* is in order. It really annoyed me that the books and DVDs were scattered all over the place in their section. I went into another room and the nicknacks, toys, and other stuff were all together with nothing sorted. This Goodwill would make a lot more money if they just sorted the items. Seriously. Also went to the bargain outlet portion. Yeah, no thanks, not worth going through all those bins to try to find something. I'll pay a little bit more to go to the other side of the Goodwill store. read more

I always just went to the outlet store, until one day I found the bargain side. Last week I picked up a Composition doll from the 1920's - with a little cleaning and care, I turned this soiled doll into something very cute. I have also bought a Prada purse, which was in disrepair, but with cleaning turned into something very nice. This is definitely getting to be my "hangout"- you never know what you'll find with a little work on your part. Did I mention that I bought an Andrew Wyeth original for $2.49, if in good shape would be about $800 or more ? It's almost like a game to see if you can find a bargain or not. read more

This Goodwill is way out of my way, and I remembered yesterday why I don't bother to make that drive anymore. Even when I lived closer, I can honestly say I never had any great finds at this place. No wait, I did find a nice hi-fi console stereo for $20, but I didn't buy it. And a pair of espadrilles that similarly, I did not buy. I think the electronics/furniture room is kinda fun to go through, because there's actually a lot going on in there. The clothes selection is completely unworthwhile, though the shoes are worth a look. There is a Bargain Room, which apparently, is a room, with bargains on clothing, which again, is forgettable. I'd only recommend checking this place out if the better Lancaster thrift stores aren't convenient for you to get to, or if you're making a day of it and hitting them all. read more

Absolutely love this store! We travel out to Lancaster at least 5 times a year for the amusements and produce, and always stop by to check out the store. We have bought incredible items for prices unheard of in NY. Solid pine table with extensions for $6, a brand new GE microwave for $19, amazing books retailed at 30+ used on Amazon for $1 and change, a brand new Samsonite briefcase for $8, L 'Occitane lotions brand new in the box for $1.47, vintage Pyrex for .97 cents, amazing ladies vintage winter coats for $7 and $8 (which in NY could go for at least $100 in a vintage clothing shop), Anne Klein skirts $4.50, NY & Co skirts $4.50 and so on and so on... Goodwill's in NY are horrible and the bargain rooms even worse, we happened upon this store while visiting the Dollar store across from it (another store we don't have in NY being that the 99 cents stores are usually 1.99 and up) We walked in expecting the worst and walked out with huge smiles, a cart full of bags and my sons arms full of books he handpicked. Those looking for "Thriftier" options are left with the Bargain room. The Bargain room is filled with the leftover unsold merchandise from other Goodwill's. I have not had any luck in this store either in NY's bargain outlet or PA's bargain room, but where else can you get clothing for .85?? My son found some good vintage war books after searching through some boxes (he's 10) and that was all. Being in my late 20's I have to budget my income for my family's expenses and the Goodwill in PA definitely helps! read more

I got a whole new wardrobe from the Bargain Room--all clothes eight five cents! And I got a new Calvin Klein winter coat and London Fog Rain Coat like new each only cost $2.50. This place rocks! Sure, you gotta dig through the bins, but I have never found so many awesome deals in my life. As a 33 year old woman with a good sense of style, the clothes and styles I snagged for .85 were from Banana Republic, GAP, Anne Klein, Express, Casual Corner, Abercrombie etc. and many of them were brand new! read more

Ok, first things first. I have been coming to the Bargain Room for over 20 plus years. Until recently, even with the rooting around in bins and the occasional rude person, it was so worth it due to the price. No longer, my friends!! Why? Let me count the ways... 1. It's filthy. 2. The Bargain Room is infested with greedy dealers who think nothing of shoving in front of you around you and through you, sometimes all at the same time. 3. The prices are now by pound, which is great if you are buying a dress shirt, crappy if you want a brass lamp. 4. The workers are RUDE. Prepare to be yelled at and told to move when they bring bins out. 5. No dress rooms. You just gotta hope it fits when you get home. 6. Heaven only knows if you will delve into urine, wet paint, unclean underwear when you stick that hand down in the bin. 7. You may very will witness a nasty verbal fight. You would think whatever item somebody wants is the last piece of clothing on earth. Or maybe they are hoping to find gold in that pair of jeans. I have seen some real doozies. 8. Be forwarned! Lots of broken glass abounds! That stuff gets treated mighty rough and I have rarely gone through the glassware without encountering some big, sharp chunks. 9. People do not mind or even keep an eye on their children. So, watch out for stray toys on floor, tricycle riders tearing by, etc. In closing, it is no longer worth saving some bucks when the trade off is higher blood pressure and possibly a black eye, cut hand or worse. read more

I love the outlet bargain room. We've been going here for years and we've always found at least one or two things every time we go. We live pretty far away but we always make an effort to come up here to go to this Goodwill a few times a year. Many things have changed. They no longer have the white bins that hurt your arms when you tried to dig through the clothing-they now have blue bins that are much easier to sift through. Plus, they charge by the pound now instead of 85 cents apiece. I believe it's a dollar and change per pound, but we were able to get an enormous bag of clothing and shoes for only 20 dollars. However, there is a less of a selection of clothing. I remember a few years ago there were at least 5 or 6 rows of several white bins. Now, there are only about 2-3 rows of a few blue bins. Although the selection is not the same, I find that the clothing and shoes are of better quality and more modern in style than in the past. A few years ago, I would dig through the bins and all I would find was granny-like shirts from the 80s stained from age and tacky stuff from the 90s. Now, they actually have modern-day brands and clothing. Like someone else said, it does have its hits or misses. Some days I will only find one or two things, and some days I have a bunch of great finds. I once found a pair of Cardy Uggs for only $2.00 and in great condition! Finds like these are usually few and far between but that's life. As for the regular price side of this Goodwill, there isn't really much to say about it. It's pretty much your everyday Goodwill. Overpriced, and a good portion of the stuff eventually ends up in the bargain room. The shoes and housewares are the only remotely interesting things, both of which are also overpriced. I saw a pair of lace-up boots and I instantly fell in love. When I checked the $25 pricetag, I put them down and forgot I even saw them. $25 is OUTRAGEOUS for a place that's supposed to e a thrift shop. I'm sorry if I sound cheap, but I honestly don't think I'm wrong. Even $10 for a pair of shoes (which is the price for most of the shoes) is expensive for the condition they are in. Overall, DEFINITELY check out the bargain room if you come here. You may find something, you may not; but it's still worth a try. read more
