I am not sure what has happened to this store, but I do know that the prices have gotten ridiculous. They apparently google everything and if EBay has it listed at a crazy price they think they can get it. I think you missed the part about it being a thrift store, and the items are all donated. Guess you are paying those bonuses for the managers and CEO. There used to be better discounts not just for one day but that was changed. I can understand if you have challenged employees training to move to a better job, but this doesn't seem to be the case here. While there are a few employees who are always polite the majority are rude. I have worked retail most of my life and customer service can make or break a store, well yours is at the breaking point. I also know most stores have a policy to not provide bags, but when someone buys a lot of breakables you would think they would have a little bit of wrapping paper. So, as I wrap all of my items, I get rude looks because I am tying up the counter. You just made a sale be respectful. Also, along with the high prices you place stickers on products that will be damaged when you try to remove them. Maybe some training of tag placement is in order. Sadly, this and many Goodwills are pricing themselves out of business and when the economy is bad you could count on filling the void with used items. I am hopeful some change will come and I can continue to spend my money there. ***After I received a response to my review that the sales help your programs I think you missed the point of my review. I am sure these employees probably make minimum wage at best, and all the items are donated so how are you helping the community who looks to you for affordable items to meet their needs? By price gouging? Also this seems to be the case in many Goodwill stores and needs to be addressed overall with your mission. read more

One of the more confusing aspects of living in the Philadelphia trust-state area is that there are three overlapping Goodwill "chapters", and they don't share practices, coupons, loyalty programs, etc. This particular Goodwill, in Pennsylvania, is part of Goodwill of Delaware. It's nestled along a busy road, with angled parking out front and a shared flat lot next to their building. The space is well lit and open, shelves are open and wide. Pricing is as marked, conveniently if there's no tag it follows a chart of prices. I like this as you don't have to find someone to get you a price. I thought their pricing, even tagged, was more reasonable than other locations. I picked up some lovely items for myself and as gifts. Staff were pleasant and took time to carefully wrap the more fragile items I had. Overall a good expense I'd go back. read more

I was verbally attacked by a worker because I brought a decorative pillow to donate. This pillow was purchased for Halloween last year at this same Goodwill. He stated that Goodwill does not take pillows. Then he loudly tells his co-worker in my ear shot that people think this place is a dumping ground. I was upset. I asked him if he had learned customer service skills. He stated nine times in a row, "Have a nice day sir, Have a nice sir..." I stated that what he was doing was weird. He walked away and came back with the manager. The manager was not happy with me and did not want to solve the problem. In fact he ended up walking away from me. These two men were very angry. I have been donating to Goodwill for more that 40 years! Never do I think that it is a dumping ground. This place is a joke. PS. I got extremely incredible customer service at the PA Avondale location. read more

Brought a complete dining room table, 6 chairs, buffet and a china closet. They were very picky talking about little scratches and dents small area of dog chew marks. Then complained and yelled at worker when we unloaded in the unloading zone. This place is terrible. read more

This store is a train wreck and a half. It's in one of the wealthiest areas and I've been about a dozen times and walked out empty handed. They put out way too much clothing that it's the majority of their floor plan. 30% at least is stained, worn thin, stretched out. Bad product. They have a smidge off floor space for a kids/toy section, which is embarrassing. They don't have a section devoted to wood, wicker or baskets which is a popular thrifting item currently and a missed opportunity for this store. As I left, I watched a baby boomer couple pick through CDs and get excited about one, pluck it out and find it was empty. There's no quality control here. They'd do well to get an administrator in and replan the store. read more

I've been stopping at this store for years every time I'm in the area. They recently changed management, fired awesome personnel, and hired others. They also transformed their store to a nightmare. They used to have all the shoes displayed as shoes would be in a department store...oh, no! The shoes are scattered throughout the store on top of the clothing racks. Good luck finding your size or matching pairs. They now have these metal shelves all over the store which take up so much room, are ugly which does not making the shopping experience pleasant. I schlepped an exercise bike to donate and the two women in receiving kept talking amongst themselves where were they going to put it...There was plenty of room in the back when I peeked in later. They finally took it after much angst, but I shall not be donating to them again. Then I wanted to return items which 1) a plate had stress cracks throughout it 2) toy was missing eye which I had failed to observe (or it fell out), and 3) a folding table I bought fell apart when I used it the day after I purchased it. I had paid with my Discover card and although I thought I had my receipt, I could not find it. So, I kindly asked them to give me a note stating that I had left the items at the store and I would dispute the charge with Discover. The first time I asked for this, I was told 'okay' but then the fellow walked away into the back room. He didn't return so I opened the back door 10 mins later. I was yelled out for doing so...YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED BACK THERE!!!! I had had no intention on going back there, I simply opened the door...and saw the fellow doing work....!!!!! W T F? He told me he would give me a slip and didn't. The woman who had yelled at me told me she was a manager, so I explained the issue to her and asked her for a slip stating that I had left the items there so I could dispute the charge because I did not have my receipt. She never answered me. Every time I asked her, she asked me if I wanted to donate the items or come back with the receipt. I explained every time and it fell on deaf or dumb ears. Beam me up! It was as if I had stepped into the twilight zone. Then she told me she would call the police, because yes, I was frustrated beyond belief and my voice went up an octave. The the fellow came back and I asked him why he had been so rude by walking away. Talk about stoic! No answer. I told them to call the police because I knew that the police would tell them to give me a note stating that I had returned the items and left them in the store. They never did. My nerves were shaken. I called their main office from my car and a very nice woman told me she would contact the district manager. She also asked me if they had offered store credit, which they had not. Apparently, they could have done something. This store has changed and not for the better. Be warned! read more

Very rude. They have a drop off box outside So I went to go leave a few items before they opened and I was very rudely told that I would have to come back after 10 o'clock. I am happy to support a local charity but would expect some accommodation to make it easier for me to make my donation. read more

Nice GW, but stuff is way over-priced. New items seem to be put out often, but the broken junk is also left on the shelves for a lot longer then it should be. Also, the male worker that runs the register does not wear his face mask. Its always around his chin. Ive been seeing him every week for the last month,, but he never has the mask on. First of all, I've never been fond of thrifting. But my neighbors sister was in town for four months and she convinced me to go with her once. I needed a simple mirror, a vintage glass deviled egg tray and large pot for a house plant. On the first trip I found the deviled egg tray and the mirror; six bucks. She convinced me to go again to this location and I wasn't looking for anything but walked out with a Lenox crystal bowl and decorative platter that looks like it was made for a rug we found in Morocco! Who knew? It's true, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." A guy shopping told me that at this location he comes in daily as they are constantly unloading and you can see this as you are shopping. Staff is pleasant, however the head cashier can be a bit over the top read more

This goodwill location is a top notch thrift store that I can always count on when searching for some good finds! I recommend coming in the morning, because like most thrift stores, the better items are still there. read more

I am very disappointed in our goodwill location. I have tried to go 2 different times to drop off a large amount of donations from household, clothes, bikes, furniture. They refused to take them. They stood there drinking coffee and refusing to take the load. Apparently there was too much for them to consider the effort made for us to bring it. Your shelves are full are they? These reviews don't say as much. This is ridiculous. 20 years of donating to this store down the drain. So now I will choose to be loyal to an organization that will actually come to my home instead of me doing the work to contribute to them. Maybe rethink this policy. My favorite goodwill in the neighborhood. It is in a fairly upscale area so you get lots of brand name clothes and generally nice stuff. It is in the network of Goodwills of Delaware and Delaware County so kids' clothes under 5T are $1.50 a piece. I buy lots of those, why pay full price for clothes the kiddos will rip in 2 days or outgrow in 3 months? So that's a big plus over, say, PA Goodwills. I love their sales too. The Saturday after thanksgiving sale was half off all clothes. Every Wednesday students and seniors get 20% off. All December gift cards are buy $50 get $10, so basically 16% off. There is supposed to be a sale in February when all $3.50 clothes are $2.00. In short, lots of great finds for pennies on the dollar;) read more

This place is pretty picked over- maybe it's because it's in a nicer neighborhood- or maybe it's just disorganized because they get a TON of donations. Either way, I was underwhelmed. The staff was very nice. The drop off donation area is BONKERS on nice Saturdays in the Spring. read more

Meh. Nothing to write home about with this particular location. They seemed to have a good deal of furniture, but the organization in general turned me off. They had a limited selection of home goods, and for some weird reason, in between the racks of the clothing were essentially little shelves that held miscellaneous goods, that would have made more sense somewhere else on a real shelf. Like, toys, kitchenwares, random crap, in between racks of clothing. Am I supposed to go through every single rack of clothing, down every aisle, to find something worthwhile hidden in between? Ain't nobody got time for that! read more

Stopped in here a few days ago to pick up a wig for my daughter's Halloween costume... (yes, they have a pretty nice sized selection of Halloween stuff -new, not used, from what I could tell). Paid $10 for a long blond wig (to be turned into Axl Rose, NOT a princess - just to be clear). Not sure how that price compares to actual Halloween stores - will have to check that out in my travels. read more

It would be so convenient for me if this goodwill was actually any good. I'm currently 0 for 10. My last visit was the worst so far. I don't know who is going out of their way to donate such stained and damaged furniture....it should be put out on the curb. A pretty good thrift store depending on what you are looking for. They have a decent amount of furniture which varies in quality and is hit or miss but the main reason i stop in. I have found some good buys there. Limited household goods and a pretty good selection of frames/mirrors etc. I haven't checked out the clothing here so cannot speak to that. The staff here are fantastic...kind, helpful and super friendly. On a side note they do have 2 vending machines if you're thirsty or need a snack and a restroom to boot read more

This used to be a pretty nice thrift store. Unfortunately they have organized it in such a way that it looks chaotic and messy. No longer is there an area set aside for housewares toys:etc. Now they are on top of the racks that hold the clothes so it is difficult to see them if you are short and it just looks messy. Especially the toys which are piled on top of another in a junky fashion. The store is almost always picked over and you always have to wait several minutes for a cashier to be at the register. I agree with the others who have posted here. Used to be a great store. Not anymore. Prices are absurd (faded and outdated 1980s Jones NY tops for $16.00, really?; faded and really worn 1990s Ann Taylor jackets for $20?, Dollar Tree items for $2.00). The store is disorganized and messy. The staff (with a couple of exceptions) are shockingly rude. I have seen them treat patrons in the most unprofessional manner repeatedly, particulalrly those who asked for a better price on an absurdly marked item. It was a great place for books but they are marked so high that they sit on the shelf unsold until they all get taken off again to be sent to the Goodwill outlet. It must cost more to have a person price them, put them on a shelf, take them off again, and ship them to another store than it would if they used the old system of 25 cents a softcover and 1 dollar for a hardcover. Don't waste the time to visit here. I won't even donate here anymore. I take my things to the Salvation Army now. read more
