The bins is the wild Wild West but that's part of the fun. Highly recommend bringing some gloves and planning to be there for a bit. I'm a reseller so I score some really good items here. I also use to flip used books on Amazon. They have pallets and pallets of books available. They have two big rooms where you can source clothes, home items and other large items. Staff are generally hands off except to clean up, rotate bins, check out. It can be intense here so keep that in mind. People are very crab in the bucket mentality as it concerns some of the deals here. You pay by the pound for your items. read more

2 Words- THRIFT. HAUL. If you come to this Goodwill location in St. Pete, you're bound to find some goodies. It's a huge store with so many treasures to be found, in a nice area. It's so big there's the initial part of the store where you enter/exit, and then there's a whole extra room to walk into- and it's not really a room, it's like warehouse size. They have everything to shop for- clothes, shoes, stuffed animals, kitchenware, furniture, other household items, ties, belts, holiday decor and much more. I was really impressed with the selection of women's shoes- basically 4 whole, full racks. I would say most Goodwills are more "expensive" nowadays, but that word is subjective as it's more like items cost $6-7 or $10 instead of only a few bucks. It's not quite as amazing of deals as it was, but still really really affordable. And if you have a rewards number you can get half off on the colored tag of the week, which also can be really clutch for savings. This store was clean, well-oraganized and well-kept for a Goodwill. Timothy that checked us out at the register was just a darling. Definitely keeping this spot on my list of thrifts to come back to. read more

Some of the regular shoppers get very territorial (Haitians) and defensive over bins, so it's easy for things to feel tense. The Goodwill outlet (aka bins) is a fun way to look for all kinds items for very little money. Everything is sold by the pound and you can find tremendous deals. It's like a treasure hunt, you never know what you're going to find. I have had a pretty good experience here. However, in the beginning I had to learn some rules on how the place operates. At times it can get quite loud. The employees will actually shout. It seems rude but it is mostly them trying to keep things in order. Think of black Friday but not as bad. So be prepared for the shouting. I can see why they have to though, because there are people that will break the rules and Goodwill doesn't want a mob to break out. Bin rotation is every 45 minutes to an hour. For wares, clothing, glass items, shoes and bags. Everyone has to line up until all the bins are brought out. We basically have to stand behind a line until it's time to start looking in the bins. Again, this is mostly due to crowd control. It can get intense at times, people will throw stuff around trying to get to the bottom of the bins. I tend to go look at the books while the frenzy is going on. Then I'll come back and look to see what's left. Here are the basics of what you need to know as a first timer. The Blue shopping carts must be parked along the wall. The ones already there belong to someone else. There have been instances where newcomers will go digging in peoples carts not knowing. This in turn can cause the person of the claimed cart to get a bit miffed. I typically carry a bag instead of using a cart. There are not many carts or cart space available by the time I get there, so this method works best for me. Also, it's a good way to keep your awesome finds near you. I use one of those big blue IKEA bags. If you do get lucky enough to get a cart, please know at the end of the day there's a possibility you may loose your cart if you are not paying attention. When you see employees sweeping and hauling the bins to the back, make sure you have your cart! I cannot stress this enough. The employees will remove the items from your cart back into the bins because they need to sweep the floors. If your cart is in the way, your stuff will be removed. So make sure you go grab your cart when you see those brooms come out! Usually they will make an announcement, but it's also good to know this information ahead of time. I highly suggest gloves! I have used disposable gloves but they do not protect your hands as well. A good sturdy working glove is best. Because you do not know what's at the end of that bin. You definitely want to protect your hands. I also wear a mask. Not just for the obvious reasons. I'll be frank, this isn't the cleanest place. You definitely don't want to be in your best clothing. Wear something you don't mind getting dirty. When cashing out, it's best to try to hand the cashier your items by the category. This ensures everyone gets a speedy check out. That's pretty much the gist of it. If you're looking for a thrifting treasure hunt this definitely is the place. So remember..stay away from the blue carts against the wall (unless it's yours), wear gloves, wear a mask because it is dusty and lastly wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Enjoy! read more

We source electronics only to be told - that we cannot purchase them? completely wasted my time. Whom ever is managing this place - needs to really re-consider this approach. The goodwill outlet is something else I actually went on Black Friday and it wasn't a madhouse as usual. They had some good stuff I walked away spending only $12 worth of cart full of backpacks and luggage worth over hundreds of dollars. It's amazing what you can find there even with tags still on it, three of the backpacks that I had were still in plastic so that was a huge score. I like this place it's interesting I don't like the loud whistles and the yelling especially by the manager wow she is loud and sometimes very obnoxious but I guess you have to be in a place like this where people are running all over the place to the new bins. read more

This review is for the retail outlet out back. I gave them 5 stars, because if you love digging for bargains and hidden treasures, this place is for you. It's definitely not Nieman Marcus, so don't expect that and you won't be disappointed. I would strongly advise you to wear gloves of some sort and be careful going through the bins. There could be sharp items buried underneath. They bring out new bins every 30 minutes or so and it's a little crazy at first, as everyone runs over and stuff is literally flying in the air. I usually wait in the wings until the frenzy is over and swoop in for the crumbs, which in my opinion are overlooked gems. Goodwill does retail!!! At least at this location they do. Whenever I find myself going across the bridge to St. Pete I can't help but stop by the Goodwill Retail store on my way home to get lost for over an hour looking at both the great deals on new items as well as on used items. I've always been a bit of a thrift store fiend and love the idea of a real find. For those of you who aren't into thrift stores, remember they have new items and are a great destination for any holiday. I love stopping by Goodwill before Halloween for costumes both new and used and home decor. They excel at stocking Christmas supplies as well. On this particular visit, they had 75% off all new Halloween items and this was the day before Halloween. I got about $160 worth of items for $40 and I'm now the proud owner of a killer Edward Scissorhands costume. I would also like to point out that shopping at Goodwill does good things for the community. This facility is huge. It looks as though they have their business center here as well as some type of housing for people in need. They obviously accept donations like all Goodwill locations and they accept credit cards and have a huge parking lot. Stop by when you have an hour to spare. read more

Outlet bin store has different hours of 7-3. Smaller location than others I have visited. Plenty of shopping carts. The bins are not the typical blue bins. They have cloth bins that are so deep that my 5 foot body cannot reach the bottom. You have to take items out of your cart and place on scale on the check out counter. read more

This review is only about the outlet (bins) part of Goodwill at this location. Bottom line? Dirty and the bins that they use are horrible. I have been to several Goodwill outlets and this is the first time I have seen the old style canvas side bins used. This makes the experience unhealthy and downright dangerous as the bins contain glass items with furniture and appliances on top of breakable items. It is s zoo to say the least. I will not be back and would recommend avoiding this place until Goodwill replaces all the bins and joins the rest of the Goodwill outlets with a healthier way to conduct business. read more

So this review is for the **Outlet (bins)** part of the business. The Retail part looks like a Bealls Outlet There's honestly not really any instructions sooo... when you come here make sure you have gloves first off I've been cut by a razor blade luckily it was clean didn't really care oh well. This place isn't super clean but it's also not super disgusting. The staff is respectable. The other shoppers most of the time are very respectable don't be afraid to ask the old guy sitting in front of the bathrooms on the corner for help if you have a question. So for people that have never been here when you first walk in you wanna ask a worker for a cart you then put that cart along the wall with the other blue carts. Then you start going through stuff. Workers will then come out and start cleaning up one side of the building taking bins away they will leave some of the tan ones that way when you're going through a bin you can put the stuff on top that no one cares about inside the tan ones. They renew alternate sides about every 20-40 minutes. Around 11:15-11:30 they put out one more then go to lunch. I suggest paying for your stuff and going to get something to eat. Don't leave your cart full on the wall and leave, Two things will probably happen your stuff will get taken or a worker will put all your stuff back in the bins. The last rotation comes out around 1:30 2:00. Now checking out. If you don't have bags to seperate stuff they have large brown paper bags and see through garbage looking bags. You'll want to separate glass, wares, electronics, clothes, etc mostly if you find something small that might be an electronic or what're just throw it in the wares. For big items they will tell you a price take it or leave it. But overall they're prices are unbeatable unless you find somebody at a yard sale selling good stuff dirt cheap. We all love those people am I right. You're allowed to take your cart to your vehicle but be upstanding and bring it back to the ramp. But honestly this place is good for people that resell or just want to treasure hunt for home goods. You never know what you'll find. So be there and be fair. Ps. I don't know anything about the clothes section but I do know it's pretty big. They have a lot. They also have a book section. I think it has dvds and cds as well. Plenty to go through at this place trust me you want get bored. I hope this review helps some people. you can find some great stuff but people are very rude and act like they forgot normal mannerisms and regular real life interactions. Some lady literally brings her tiny yapping dog and puts it in the bins(on the clothes like in the picture) or lets it walk around the area with the clothes bins. Goodwill outlet: "bins" What an experience. They don't follow their own rules and the manager claims the bins belong to her personally by calling them "my bins". Property of goodwill. Carts belong 1 per person but they don't follow that rule. Carts are gone by opening. BROKEN GLASS & children do not mix well. People will take items out of your own cart, people will steal your cart, people with push and shove. Save your sanity, go to a REAL BLUE BINS store in manatee. Where they follow the correct rules and allow 1 person per bin and not this chaos. The workers also joke about drugs and alcohol with customers which is just totally inappropriate with the whole concept.........also they put out full on trash bags full of trash in the bins. I have to say the experience was pretty intense and there are some tips and tricks you need to know before going. 1. Bring work gloves 2. Prepare to dig 3. You only shop from the white bins in the center of the room, the carts and object along the wall are already reserved by other shoppers. 4. It's kind of like a race to see who can grab the best finds and people can be a tad Black Friday type aggressive. 5. There is only so much time for one set of bins before they are systematically swapped out. During this time everyone must stand behind the yellow line until the "go" is given. 6. Intense but could be fun. I scored a cork board and an accordion file for my home office for 2.36 total! I vowed to return and I did! read more

This may very well be the best Goodwill retail store I've ever been to! Not only is this store beautifully maintained (super organized and adequately staffed) but it's pretty big store. From the moment I walked in, I was in thrift heaven! It feels more like a typical retail store rather than an actual thrift store. This is the type of place where you need a good hour or two and a comfortable pair of shoes in order to really enjoy your shopping experience at this location. The store offers a large selection of brand new items at discount prices as well as the expected donated items. You can find everything from Christmas decorations to home goods to clothing/shoes/ accessories to furniture to books and novelty items. Just when you think you've conquered the store after making it past the shoes and clothing, there is a whole back room full of furniture and home goods and other odds and ends. I found some really nice higher end quality items here (Banana Republic shirt, Ann Taylor jacket to mention a few finds) in terms of clothing. Even my boyfriend was impressed with the nice items he found while perusing the store. We both can't wait to go back and see what we can find. read more

I actually want to review Goodwill Industries, the business behind the retail store. Last week I took three huge Hefty bags to the Goodwill bin at my kids' school. I accidentally donated my husband's good winter coat (an expensive wool dress coat). Don't ask. It was his fault, although he disagrees. Anyway... The next day I contacted the Goodwill rehabilitation center and was put into contact with a very nice lady named Laura. She researched the issue and determined that the bags I donated had not yet been picked up from the bin, and since it was Memorial Day weekend they would not be picked up until Tuesday. She took my information and said she would call me on Tuesday. She did call me on Tuesday and said they had not found the coat, but that the truck had been too full to empty the whole bin, so it was probably still in there. She called me just because she had SAID she was going to call me. I really appreciate when people do what they say they are going to do. She called me again on Wednesday and had my husband's coat! I was so grateful. I tried to tip her $10 when I picked it up but she refused and said they were not allowed to take tips. So I donated the $10 to Goodwill. The coat was worth much more than that. Thank you Goodwill! Now I need to go check out the retail store because according to the review below, it is awesome! read more

I worked for them for over 5 years and i would not recommend anybody to work here! they only function cause of the girls from work release that have no choice than to work there and maybe 3 or more employees are from outside who works there they don pay enough! who the hell work like a slave and get paid $12??? I end up looking for those old lady beaded dresses/sets to cut apart for costuming purposes. I know they also end up having at least a couple wedding dresses in there too which comes in handy when you need to make someone a Corpse Bride costume for Halloween. I have mixed feelings with Goodwill , I understand they are a great help to the community and its a great place for a lot of ppl to purchase items they need for great prices. And this location is one of the biggest , cleanest and friendliest locations I've ever been to. I did pick up a few toys for my Wooly Siberian Huskies well below retail. My issue with them is the way they treat their employees who some have extensive disabilities and should be paid the same as any other Goodwill employee or at the least minimum wage. They use non profit loopholes to get around min wage laws, while they make money hand over fist at the expense of their employees. After seeing a few news shows and documentary about how the executives here are making 250k+ a year and paying some less fortunate employees , in some cases less than $1 a hr in this country is disgusting and its beyond appalling to take advantage of these people on account of the limited resources for employment they already have. Having said that this review is more based on this actual location than the sneaky tactics the executives from this organization use to get away with paying as little as possible to the devoted people who make this possible everyday. read more

This thrift store is actually pretty clean (but why is that dirty smell always in the air in the back room?) and contains a good assortment of new, unopened knick-knacks (especially jewelry and little household gadgets) FURNITURE BEST place for used furniture! The prices are adjusted to reflect the quality-- but still low! Normally the furniture has a small discolored area or small chip-- nothing a little Home Depot visit won't cure. And did I mention low prices? ORGANIZATION Although clean, the organization (or lack thereof) makes it seem messy. Everything is sorted (men's clothing, women's clothing, shoes, furniture, electronics) but once there, items are just piled on top of each other. You can find some little treasures this way... if you don't mind digging... literally. But a glance at the back room reveals piles and piles of donations-- I guess organization doesn't matter as much once it's on the floor. SERVICE It's rare for any employee to initiate help or welcome-- you're on your own! Although if you ask the workers in the back for help-- they are very ready to help. read more
