The St. Albert location recently opened this fall (2014) in the old Rona location across from GoodLife Fitness. It's as bright and clean as any thrift store could possible be. They have a drive up section, where you ring a doorbell, to drop off gently used items (VV gives back to charity every time you donate through the Diabetes Association). I have a friend who works at a different location and she had lamented that they were pulling all their best things for months in preparation of sending the best of the best to have the St. Albert store stocked for its grand opening. Be sure to sign up for e-mail notice of sales, their Super Savers Card, or bring a Senior on Tuesdays for 30% off if you're looking for a deal or going to be a regular. A word of caution/advice - you need to either know what you are looking for or be on a mission for something one of a kind. Buying George brand or Cherokee brand leggings for your little girl for $2-$4 used here is simply insane when you can buy them brand new for $3-$5 on sale. But for a pair of dress shoes likely only once or twice or a vintage jersey to wear to a themed party or the perfect ugly Christmas sweater - this is most definitely your place!

I wanted to…read moredonate to a Women's Shelter or to Ukrainian refugees but I didn't have what they wanted/needed. You see, my mother liked to collect pretty things, and my family doesn't have the space for all her salt and pepper shakers, Christmas decorations, eagles, owls, wolves, chefs, dishes, etc., etc. But I didn't want to just shove them off to just anywhere. I wanted it to mean something. Thankfully, I can do that here. I came to the MCC on the recommendation of a friend who volunteers with the Yeg Water Warriors. She told me that MCC helps YWW as many other organizations in the community and beyond. I Googled them and found that it was even better than I'd been told. I can breathe a sigh of relief that the sale of my mother's beautiful things will go to good causes, as she would have wanted. Staff was excellent and helpful. We checked the store out before we left, and found it to be clean and organized. We bought candles and a jacket. I'm going to be back after I declutter my house to bring them more, because I support what they do. I think I'll buy some of that coffee too. Thanks everyone at MCC for making me feel better about giving away my Mom's beautiful, but space consuming things.

I've been shopping here for a quite a few years now, including at their former downtown location. The owner and her staff have done an amazing job making the space feel like a welcoming treasure hunt. They always happy to offer suggestions if needed or allow you to browse on your own. Since everything here is one of a kind, I have my best luck when I'm not looking for something specific. The price range is extensive - you can find regular priced dresses for $50 but they also sell some luxury designer items for $1000+. Truly something for everyone. If you're looking for a deal, I recommend keeping an eye on their social media and looking out for their blowout sales.

They have a lot of vintage designer shoes and clothing, fur coats, wedding dresses, just so much good stuff. Do yourself a favour and look in the drawers and bowls to find even more stuff. My favourite purchase from there is still 80s cowbow boots that I get compliments on every time I wear them. I love the owner Angela, she is really open about where she does her collecting and is a super interesting lady. A chat with her and a gander in Swish always a treat.

Well known clothing brands can creep up to what the sale price would have been when the items were new and there is a lot of junk in the household area at high prices. However, there are still some deals to be had. You just need to have some idea what you are looking at. The household area is pretty disorganized, particularly the larger items in the far back corner but otherwise the store is clean and open.

It's easy to access as its right on 111 Ave but I think you can only access the store and adjoining parking lot by driving westbound on 111 Ave. The store is moderately sized. Clean and organized for the most part. They have your typical selection of goods separated in different parts of the store. Clothing, shoes, purses/bags, household items, home decor, kids/baby clothing & toys, books, CDs and other miscellaneous goods, plus a whole section in the back with what I assume are clean, inspected & wrapped mattresses for sale. I find the prices reasonable (way better than Value Village). I scored a like new huge fleece blanket with plastic backing that folds up into a convenient roll with a handle for $6.99 plus a leather portable computer case for $3.99 and a book for 99 cents

The clothing selection is fair and prices are low - especially because there is usually a 50% off sale! I have found great pieces including $1.50 tee, $4 dress, $10 vintage leather unworn ankle boots and more - but the stock fluctuates and because they are a smaller store, you may strike out. It's still fun to look around and enjoy the hunt! The racks are a little too full for my browsing preferences and, on my most recent stop, the store generally seemed a bit more disorganized than usual. I love the creative displays - you can tell they put some effort into making it more than just racks! I also usually experience a lot of warmth from the staff though staff today were not quite as friendly as usual. They have bathrooms available for the public (!) and run with both employees and volunteers. This is the southern-most thrift store that I know of - just south of the Henday off 91st street - so it's easy for some of us to get to and definitely worth a thrift stop!
