Chanos Warehouse

Town of Lake

Finally made it to Chanos!…read more Lots of stuff to look through! Hard part was it's 50/50 in items being labeled for pricing. Which is a little odd then when you make it to checkout/makes me personally not want to grab non-labeled items. Another customer told me you can kind of bargain/haggle the pricing but if that isn't something you're comfortable doing... Overall the price I was given for my total was my max I would have spent had she gone higher I would have asked her to individually note the prices so I could put one thing back. I personally would have priced it probably $5 less especially due to one of the items being a short basket that had some imperfections and I couldn't see it being valued for more than $3 based on average of other places I'd been. But it was an experience

I share similar sentiments with those who have mentioned that Chano's Warehouse feels overcrowded…read moreand picked over, likely due to its recent popularity on social media. I miss the days when parking wasn't a challenge, as the lot is now often packed. The space itself isn't the cleanest--pretty dusty, and some items, like the records, are heavily scratched and have an unpleasant smell. I understand that thrifting and vintage shopping often come with some wear and tear, especially in a space of this size, but compared to my favorite resale shops, it doesn't quite measure up. Additionally, the selection doesn't seem to rotate much, and I rarely find more than one or two worthwhile items. If there were a wider, more consistently refreshed inventory, I wouldn't mind the cleanliness issues as much--I love digging through things to find hidden gems. That said, the staff is very kind and friendly, and the prices are pretty reasonable, which is definitely a plus. Just a heads-up--these pictures are from my first visit, and after returning this past Saturday, I noticed that the stock hasn't changed much and feels more picked over compared to my initial trips.

I'm not sure how I've never thought to write a review for one of my favorite thrift stores in the…read morearea. Some of my best teenage summers were spent with weekly visits to this Value Village. I've gone here on dates, brought new friends to shop, like jeez I literally have made memories at this place. This isn't Goodwill. It's a little grimey and messy. I even heard one person claim to find a McDonald's cheeseburger in a winter coat pocket. (This has not been a verified story.) But it is CHEAP. Especially if you plan around their daily 50% discounts or their weekend 50% off everything. And that's what you come for, the deals and the hidden treasure!! I've also never once, in the years I've been shopping here, had a bad experience with an employee. They're all very friendly. And I usually bring more than the 3 item limit into the dressing room, never have been scolded (: Worth the stop for avid thrifters. Out of all the local Value Villages, this one if my favorite (rip North Ave location). The other Layton location is just eh. Haven't had the luck I've had at this location. The Racine location is also VERY good.

But, we have found awesome things here for ourselves and our grand littles. We take the time to clean them well- toys , clothes, etc. anything we purchase. And we come home happy to rehome items and to save money. It's a win win. We enjoy this store more than Salvation Army and goodwill which we also frequent. On weekends, everything in the store is 1/2 off. You can't do any better than that. Go in knowing you have to give a little to get a little. We have shopped here for years. We appreciate the value.

THIS PLACE IS A CLUSTERF*CK!!!…read more This place has the distinction of being the only place meant for kids that's nestled in between a car parts store and a repair shop. My wife didn't believe I was taking her to a kids consignment shop. This is what happens when you buy a garage, turn it into a gym locker room and then throw about a million toys inside. Or at least that's the thought I had when I shuffled around this place. When I say shuffle, I mean it! This place is littered with toys and things all over the place, I spent more time shuffling sideways and stepping over things. I thought that this might of been a freak thing on the Friday I came in, so I returned on Saturday since my wife and I were in the area. It was just as messy early on Saturday than it was the day before. This place is barely organized! Some toys are grouped with other toys, but otherwise clothes are peppered anywhere and everywhere with no rhyme or reason. Scented candles, glade plugins, scented oil, spray air fresher, renuzit, patchouli incense, heck even some car air freshners from the parts store next door I don't care! Please take care of the smell inside the store! It smells like you guys grabbed twenty used sweat socks from the nearby gym, used them to cover the exhaust pipe of a 1977 Chevy Van and then piped that into the store. This is quite possibly the iciest parking lot I've encountered this winter. A little salt would help. I felt like I was in the Super Mario 3 ice level as I slid into the store, juggling the one year old in my arms. Expectant Moms, be wary. Drive by and don't stop! You probably won't even realize you're driving by! I drove by twice before I found it.

I have gone to this event for nearly 20 years, both as a patron and volunteer. We come every year because it's fun to try all the different soups that restaurants bring. It has a been a good way to try something that places that we've never heard of (and a good way for restaurants to promote business). There are different kinds of bread there as well for people to eat. I've used it to get the left over soup on the bottom of the bowl that I couldn't get with a spoon This year, they had commemorative spoons that they sold for $10. We enjoy coming too because it's a good cause and why not support a cause that raises awareness about hunger. It's nice because you get 2 tickets with your purchase of a bowl. You can buy extra tickets for more soup if you are still hungry and want to try more soups So here's my suggestion: go. Get a bowl. Eat soup. Support a good cause
