They specialize mainly in clothing, babies, children, men & women's as well as shoes, formals, handbags, toys, and baby equipment/necessities. This is a consignment store, so the inventory is constantly changing and fresh. I dropped off two full bags and only got a few dollars back, so for sellers -- might not be the best for profit unless you're just wanting to make a little bit off unwanted clothing but as a buyer, I LOVE THIS PLACE. Items that don't sale quickly, get moved to the "porch sale" where I've scored new with tag items for less than a dollar! Inside, I've found boutique and brand name clothing, such as Matilda Jane, for $5.99 & Miss Me Jeans for $15-$20 -- you can't find that anywhere else!! The big bonus? Moms listen up... they have a PLAY AREA for the kids in a back corner of the shop filled with toys. SO your kiddo can be pre-occupied playing while still in hearing/seeing range while your shop! We visited the store to find items for her room--a joyful milestone in her recovery journey. ​Instead of the supportive environment one would expect from an organization called "The Mission," we were profiled. Two female employees followed us through the aisles, looking at my sister with visible disdain and judging her for her tattoos and her appearance. It was heartbreaking to see someone who has fought so hard for her sobriety be made to feel "low" and "mortified" by those meant to serve the community. ​However, we refuse to carry the weight of that judgment. To the two women who treated us this way: We forgive you. We truly hope you receive the message you were meant to receive--that every person who walks through your doors is a human being worthy of dignity, regardless of their past or their appearance. We hope your hearts are softened so that the next person in recovery who walks in feels supported, not shamed.

I said that seamed high and took a quick look at my items and said wth, paid. When i got to the car I reexamined and determined she must've charged me for EACH coaster so i went in and said I don't want them if they're priced each. Store credit: can only be used if you keep up with your receipt and bring it back. Both of these practices are predatory and are in place to try and keep your items without having to actually pay you anything. I've never seen another thrift store utilize this technique. Take the cash! Don't donate without compensation for their profit, like they're trying to get you to do.

Oddly, i filed the location of Silk Purse in the back of my mind with no real pull to stop in sometime. I think it was the name. Silk Purse=Fancy Girly. One bored Saturday, I was like, meh, may as well pop in just to see. What a pleasant surprise!! So organized and filled to the gills but not in an unshoppable way! The prices are very fair. I found the most unique vintage light kit on the porch. It's now hanging in my stairwell. The mother/daughter duo, which i have now met on separate occasions, were equally friendly and engaging. They have a good eye for rare finds....vintage, antique, and collectible. Really, something for everyone! Unless you are just impossible to please! 20-25 minutes from the heart of Beaumont (a guess on my part based on my whereabouts in Sour Lake). Let's do our share to support small local businesses!!
