When we arrived in downtown Freeport the Lucy Goose was easy to find and free street parking is plentiful! There are patio tables out front that sets the stage for the flair of the store and restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owners who are still hard at work making this store all it can be and more. The store is a nice blend of old and new, with clothes, jewelry, glassware, linens, furniture. There are items you will want for yourself and wonderful gift opportunities as well. At the back of this space you will find ROC's, where delicious treats await!!! At this time they are serving soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. They do have lite, continental breakfast options as well. This venue is so new that the kitchen is still being built. Once finished there are plans for a full menu and dinner hours. Our patient's family has filed a complaint with Medicare & other licensing agencies, this agency needs to be investigated.

I've noticed that since the store has become Eco Thrift, the pricing has gotten completely unreasonable for me. I went in yesterday to browse around for knick knacks and purses and they had bags that were in such poor shape listed for $59.99 just because they were brand name. They had some scarves hanging up from the Dollar Tree for $5.99 when they are $1.25 brand new at the Dollar Tree. I realize not everyone knows that but I would hate to see someone purchase one only to see they could've had 4-5 for that price from the Dollar Tree. I think if you're able to catch some of the colors of the week (they have 25, 50 and 75% colors) you may walk out with something that is a reasonable price but otherwise I recommend you check out some of the other thrifts and save your time.

I don't think I've ever come a cross a thrift store with this much versatility. Out of the Closet is serious about HIV/AIDS advocacy and they prove it by putting their money where their mouth is. Like many other thrift stores in Montrose, you can expect marked up (but still fair) prices compared to the larger ones with piles upon piles of clothes to sift through. 96% of all proceeds at this store, however, go toward supporting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Free condoms are offered near the cashier counter; free HIV testing and a not-for-profit pharmacy sits in the back. The roots of thrifting inherently lie in supporting the community. This is usually accomplished through the affordability of everyday items, but this shop takes it to the next level by showing their dedication to safe sex and access to healthcare. Give this place a visit the next time you cruise through Westheimer -- they deserve your time more than you know.
