Good selection of clothes! This store is very well organized and curated. The clothes are moderately priced ranging from $6 to $20 depending on the piece. There are no colored tag discounts but there are 10% discounts for teachers, military, and seniors every day. This store has very nice items as well. This location is tiny but it does have some treasures to be had if you have the time to dig around. Staff are friendly and welcoming and includes the security guard. Parking is limited but there is street parking available - just keep on mind to be patient. There's all sorts of things here such as electronics, clothes, toys and books. Everyone has something they enjoy doing or souvenirs they like to buy when traveling. As a thrifter, I enjoy visiting thrift stores and picking out something "new" from a different city. Right off the bat the major difference was my local Goodwill's are priced by the item (pants $5.99, dresses $7.99 etc). The prices in here are all over the place. I was able to find an item that I've been looking for for quite a while. I paid far more than I usually pay at a Goodwill, but nevertheless I was grateful to find it. Upon first walking in, it's apparent this location has some issues with homeless people coming in and stealing. As I was trying on clothes I heard an altercation with the security guard and shortly after someone got away with an item. I did not feel unsafe in this store so don't let that steer you away...just be aware. read more

Downtown San Diego Goodwill has been pricing their stuff way beyond thrift store price points. Their selection of used clothing, housewares, toys, etc is on par to Target or Walmart at full price, sometimes more. At least Target & Walmart put items on sale. Downtown Salvation Army retail location closed a few years ago--so Goodwill has no competition in the downtown area, leaving this location free to price gouge. Consider taking your donations elsewhere. read more

What an amazing and most perfect Goodwill store I have ever come across! My daughter lives nearby and I have been wanting to come visit this store for a while. Today was my chance and I fell in love with it here! I'm even afraid to write this review because I don't want anyone else to discover this store lol I found very nice dresses and household items. But, the most amazing was a porcelain doll from Paradise Galleries. She's a beautiful Navajo doll. I can tell the tribe because of the outfit she is wearing. My mothers side is Yaqui so I fell in love with this doll. I absolutely had to have it. It is intact and has all the clothes and purse too. Such a wonderful items. I wanted to buy so much but I stuck to what I love(clothes and collectibles). The staff is hard working and the parking lot is clean and nice too. They have everything neatly arranged, the store is clean and clothes is all hung neatly. The more elite items are showcased in a glass cabinet all nice. I recommend this Goodwill and next time I'm in town I will be back. Also realized that San Diego has amazing Goodwills all around and plan to check out some of the other ones. Thank you! read more

The variety of stuff is nice. This store used to be way better with its old management but now it's disgusting ever since mid 2024. Most things are overpriced! Really strict about rules! The attitude of employees is worse! The old management cared about its connection with regular shoppers and the new doesn't give a single fudge. I recommend you to go to other thrift stores instead of this one. *If you're going to donate pleaseeeee donate at a different place or goodwill, this place only cares about getting rich.* Buy from here only if you really want something, you can find stuff at different places. When I went to this store on a Monday, there were two plates from the same set marked significantly different prices. One was 7.99 one was 3.99. I brought them to the register and asked if there was a reason for the different prices she stated she was the manager and if I didn't like it they could both be 7.99 I just stated I wasn't interested and left the store. read more

This store is very dirty and not in a safe area. I would not recommend gong to this location for any reason. Please go to another location for Goodwill. Trust me it not worth it! Parking is Very limited. Location is sadly near many homeless living quarters. I definitely did not feel safe at this location and immediately walked right out of the store. Goodwill is a famous thrift store, not the cheapest prices but they always carry good stuff and brand names clothes, this location isn't that big and parking is free but limited. The store is organized and the staff does a tremendous job keeping everything neat on hangers and shelves. Everything is organized by color and most of the clothes is priced at $5 to $9 I have never had a problem walking by the area, in a beautiful sunny day is a nice stroll to the store. read more

The prices are ridiculously high. Whoever prices the items forgets it's a thrift store. These items were donated yet they price them as if they were new and direct from the retailer. Shoes for $150? Very nice store...I bought a pair of Ralph Lauren pants for only $6 in good condition. They are very comfortable and fit well. The Staff is professional. There is an above avg selection of very low priced clothes. The area is somewhat sketchy so watch your stuff but not really dangerous at all. It is not far from the expensive east village new condos and there are several security patrols in the area. Recommended. read more

I've been wanting to check out this Goodwill location for quite some time and I finally made my way out this past weekend. Unfortunately unlike other thrift stores this Goodwill or should I say most Goodwills don't have extra discounts or sales going on. If you rarely go to a thrift and only buy a couple of items then the prices aren't bad but if you're like me who thrifts like crazy and walks out with a garbage bag full of stuff, then the prices are not the best you'll find but still not terrible. I did like how the store was medium size and didn't have an overwhelming amount of stuff. I don't like when thrift stores are too huge because it takes too much time to go through everything. Everything was pretty organized by color. I did find several cool items. If you have a student ID, military ID or you are a senior citizen then you get 10% off. read more

I have gotten Halloween costumes here for 2 years in a row. Great selection--I came late last year just a few days before Halloween whereas I came about 3 weeks before Halloween this year. I even got a costume to try on removed from one of the mannequins! The employees are courteous and professional. They ask if you have any discounts (teacher, student, military) before you pay. I used to love coming here over the years, it used to be crammed packed with tons and tons of items and you could find a piece of gold and get excited for deals. Now the shelves are sparse and hand picked with those top shelf items. I don't really want to spend 24.99$ on a pyrex bowl which is also 24.99$ retail on ebay at a thrift store. Thrifting should be fun. The pyrex bowl that is now 24.99$ used to excite me when I found it at a discount, so I just can't go to goodwills like this... My suggestion is if you want to pay full price for an antique or vintage item go to an antique store or an vintage mall with vendors and support local businesses. read more

I don't know if people realize this or not but there is a new Goodwill retail store downtown. The one on Broadway closed and there was a real void in the area without a good Goodwill to scour for vintage apparel. On November 17, Goodwill Industries of San Diego County (GISD) opened at 343 16th Street. This is a great new store and has a vibe that is clean, refreshing and urban. It provides the neighborhood with a convenient shopping destination and is stocked full of clothing for the entire family, home décor and furniture. Of all the thrift stores, Goodwill is my favorite, I like how they use the revenue generated from the sale of donated goods at its retail stores to support the operation of paid job training programs and employment services for needy individuals. For this reason, I give the new Goodwill, located near K Street in the trendy East Village, the coveted 5 YELP STARS. Donations are also accepted at this location. read more

I love this Goodwill on 16th! The employees are awesome, and so friendly. I always come to this location even though it's not that close to my house because the staff is so helpful and fun as well. They have a lot of stress due to the the amount of shoplifters that come in to this location but it doesn't change their attitudes. They remain so friendly and helpful. Now, I came into one of the goodwill thrift shops here in San Diego, looking for a cooking pot. To my DISBELIEF, you were selling one for $29.00 ( a used,scratch,lord knows how many years pot) How DARE you raise the prices on items that are being donated( FOR FREE) to the less fortunate! Zero stars should be available for gems like this Goodwill store. When I have some business in downtown I like to stop by this store to check out if there's something interesting. It's an absolute waste of time in a dirty neighborhood. There are poop marks on the sidewalk. There are homeless folks everywhere. I don't have anything against them and always bring them something (cookies and $) I'm just describing the part of town the store is in. Yet they price their stuff ridiculously high. Out of season, altered or destroyed Lululemon is easily over $50!?! Athleta or Fabletics are $15+! Also most of the staff is less than friendly, they certainly greet you with annoying "welcome to Goodwill" but no smile, no eye contact, no excuse me when they are shoving hangers in front of you. Again I don't blame them they are overworked and underpaid. Also you can't just bring your stuff to donate, they have certain days and hours.. even though they are open they won't accept it. This review is zero stars for the management of this store. Needless to say I didn't buy anything and won't be back. See photos of destroyed Hoka shoes priced @ $20.
