goodwill is only about goodwill for money, and in the old days beneath the founder, Bob, the place was a CHARITY organization, anyone telling you differently is biased to what the place is for now, or else may just get 'cool' stuff from them with more money than they know what to do with, Bob has since retired and has handed the reins to people who may well lack maturity, and the least qualified people, those they 'help' are always on the low rung of the totem pole and those at the top often seem least qualified to run the place, all in all, the place is indeed a great ripoff and a very bad joke about capitolism in America becoming it's own ravening beast, swallowing up the resources of those coming to Goodwill looking for a bargain, or at least a job, but all they get is poorer, with a very real possibility of bedbugs or mites or other vermin in the products taken home as 'treasures', one time I was working donations, some woman dropped off a comforter she claimed her dog had urinated on, they washed it, and it was still wet and a little stinky, Goodwill took it in no questions asked and slapped a tag on it and it went out for sale, and this was when Bob was still owner and founder, before he stepped down and gave the reins to some younger folks not as seasoned, those who work part time, especially on programs, even the ones with mental health issues are expected to act like everybody else and when they go wrong there is always fur to fly, tears to be shed and hell to pay, the program person has no voice whatsoever and just gets stepped on, despite being 'offered a job', yet it seems more like a big publicity stunt than to actually encourage and empower those less fortunate to feel like they are worth something or like they are getting an affordable deal they can't get elsewhere, personal observation, one would have a better time getting food from Vinnie's food pantry once a month with a person taking them through the aisle giving them OPTIONS,.. FOR FREE, thus giving the poor person a sense of autonomy and giving them that right back again to choose what foods to take and which ones to not, and the clothing area has decently priced goods as well, tho I cannot guarantee the quality of the items sold as better or worse than Goodwill, but at least the Food Pantry area gives the people back their dignity as human beings by not charging them for much needed food and has a bigger selection, like a 'free store', where everything is for free, even women's health needs and diapers, toilet paper, toiletries and the like, no such offer has ever been given by GoodWill, they have only taken in free goods and sold them off at such high prices, they cause more harm than good
Thus proving the harm of American greed and the value of generosity read more
