Goodwill superstore. This store is clean and all the items are organized really nicely. I like to go there and find books... it's interesting to find books in so many languages and so many topics. Goodwill was founded in 1902 by Boston Minister, Reverend Edgar J. Helms who took donations from wealthy Bostonians and hired people who were poor and who could fix the items. The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. They are also keeping millions of pounds of items out of landfills every year. This is a very large Goodwill located in Hallandale Beach, Florida. This is my favorite time of year to visit Goodwill. All of the Halloween costumes and clothing that could be used for costumes is out as well as fall and Halloween decorations. It is always fun to look through the costume rack. The rest of the store was immaculately organized. The large assortment of clothes were arranged by type and color. They also had a small furniture section, accessories, books, and home goods. Like many of the Goodwill stores I visit they even carry some brand new items like the rugs and Halloween decorations sold at this store. I always love to score a bargain and this is a fun store to hunt around in. read more

The people were nice -- greeted you on entering and leaving; taking temps of everyone before you could come into the store. There's sanitizer upfront as well. The store is mainly clothes. I didn't see anything that caught my eye. They do have a separate section for Halloween costumes and related black and animal print clothes and shoes, however. The bric a brac section (near the back) has a lot of junk and a lot of nearly new stuff of Woolworth quality. If you're looking for a "find" , this isn't the place to come. There's a very limited bit of furniture, as well as books, and appliances etc. They were also doing some construction while we were there. Plus another section was roped off because of a leaking ceiling air conditioner. As always, in these types of stores, stock changes, and what you're looking for may be entirely different than our quests. So don't eliminate it, just go with the knowledge that there are much better goodwill stores. read more

I'm starting to really question the ethics of this store and intelligence of the employees. Today I swung by and found a super cute but very damaged quilted purse from the 70s. Went up to ask the employee at the cash register (Maria) to see if she could give a better price w the damage (something Goodwill stores have done since the dawn of time) and she said "this isn't salvagable" and threw it in the garbage in front of me behind the register. are you serious? Holy fabulous Goodwill batman!! I'm always on the hunt for a new thrift store to check it out and was a bit skeptical of this place due to some not so hot Goodwill experiences in the past but I love this place and am kinda sad I don't live anywhere close to it. No smell of broken dreams or mothballs, well lit, upbeat jams playing and everything is neatly organized. Even the tops were in order by size....which I never see! And the shoes?? Good lord the shoes--I found Michael Kors, Nine West and some other name brands but had to pass since my feet were swollen from holiday-induced sodium. They have a cute little seating area in the book section which rivals B&N with their cushy seats and books as far as the eye can see. $5 later, I stroll out with a BCBG top and a hardback novel-holla! Most organized Goodwill store, everything is labeled clearly. My friend had to find a pirate's outfit for Yelp Spring Break's pirate ship party. She figured she can find something here, and if not, she can always improvise. She found a handkerchief and a top, all for less than $10. We thought to ourselves, if we had more time, we'd come back here. They separate top-notch designer brands neatly from the rest. I've never seen a Goodwill store this immaculate! Kudos to management; they're doing an amazing job. Staff are helpful, and the fitting rooms are tidy - WOW! Happy shopping!!! read more

I've developed an obsession. Whenever I spot a Goodwill around a high-end area, I'm compelled to check it out. And here's why: I rarely walk out empty-handed. I spent $11 today. Bought a trendy Max Studio dress, and a pair of new San Miguel shoes, which several other patrons wanted to snatch up. (The shoes currently retail on Zappo's for $109.) I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I love finding high-end goods at a fraction of retail. If that kind of shopping appeals to you, check this place out. It's good if you happen to find brands they haven't over priced YET. Overall, most things are overpriced. It didn't used to be that way but here we are. Expect to pay $15-$20 for men's Steve Madden loafers or equivalent. For the most part, the store is clean and organized. read more

Very bad experience today, I visited the store on Thursday June 13th/2019 purchase several nice dresses Wendy was the sales rep who cash me out unfortunately when I reached home I saw to my disbelief I was over charged for one of the items. I tried calling the very next day but Wendy was not available, Fast forward went to store today June 18th to return the over priced Item sales rep had to go check with supervisor in charge after waiting about 10 minutes sales rep informed me that the supervisor was checking return items. I had the receipt with color tags still attached and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes before supervisor said it was okay to give me a store credit. I assume she was checking the store cameras. This was very humiliating to me. I live in the North Miami Beach area and this was out of my way. The staff was very unfriendly and quite rude all I was trying to do was be treated fairly which was not fair at all. Yes I am a Black senior citizen and got treated like a criminal. I have visited many goodwill stores in Dade and broward County and have had occasional returns but never have been treated like this. Most of the staff was hispanic and I did not expect this type of behavior at all, I have donated over the years to goodwill and never have encountered such rude behavior. All the items are donated from many wonderful people and to be senior citizen and treated like a criminal is unacceptable. Saff needs to take classes in customer Services. I will no longer contribute my time or money to this organization I was treated like a criminal just trying to return an item bought less than a week ago for a store credit and this is what I had to endure. Very sad and disappointed. Upon checking out with store credit sales rep made attempt to call for the supervisor again to credit the store credit to my purchase after waiting an additional 5 minutes she decided to use the store credit I just received and snatched it out of my hands I told her she did not have to be rude. I am a passionate and addicted GoodWill shopper. I travel quiet a bit and I always make my way to a goodwill store wherever I am....... I have to say, I have been here three times.... yes, it's clean and organized well..... but I feel it's very sketchy.... they do not price the clothes, you get up to the counter and the cashier gives you a price for each item as she rings it up......... and the prices are not customary prices for goodwill...... the first time I let it go, second time, then the third time, I knew. I went to AMERICAN thrift on the same day, spent less for MORE items that were name brands.... will not be going a fourth time. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

Because I am in the middle of a weight loss program I have dropped about 2 pant sizes. Normally, I'd be totally fine walking around with my pants a bit baggy, but I realized it was probably not going over too well within my office that I was practically mooning people every day when I sat down. So rather than buy all new clothes (and shink down from those in another month) I decided to just save some money and hit up goodwill for a few pairs of pants to get me through (which I obviously will donate back to them). Coming from Philly, where goodwill is super dirty and seedy, I was pleasantly surprised when I dragged my boyfriend in to browse the clothes the other day. He on the other hand, was not happy that there was more for me to look at. There is rack after rack of pants, shirts, jeans, etc all for super cheap and most are in pretty decent condition. I was on the lookout for black work pants and walked out with a pair for $3 (and I will be back again this weekend for more, and jeans). In addition, I saw several pairs of pants such as Express, Banana republic, etc in great shape. My only complaint would be how long it took to look through everything. I appreciate that they grouped the pants at least somewhat (Pants are tagged S, M or L, plus color coordinated), but I was searching in the M section forever until I realized M encompassed sizes 8 and up. Further, petite was thrown in with regular & tall, so after 20 minutes of searching I only found one pair in my size of the right length, which is Tall. By the end I actually just started scanning which pant legs were the closest to the floor to find the right pairs. Overall - very happy with the place. I will be back again this weekend for some bargain shopping! read more

Incredible organization and really cute displays! Kudos! That said - as a practiced frugalista, I wasn't able to find very many pretty things. Drove past this store on my way to Hallandale today. Did a u-turn because it used to be a thrift store of a different name and was smelly and crowded and I wondered what they had done with it. Two hours and $50 later I walked out vowing to return often. This store is fantastic. Its well organized and clean clean clean. It doesn't have the old clothes smell and had some absolutely brilliant bargains (a huge roll of new upholstery material for $20!) The books are organized by category, there are sitting areas throughout where your shopping partner can sit and rest (one guy was snoozing in an armchair while his wife shopped). No broken or sub-par furniture here. the clothes are very well organized and the aisles are big enough to pass someone with your shopping cart. They have a great sprinkling of unique and vintage clothing. The displays are funky and inventive. The fitting rooms are large and bright, and the staff are super friendly. The only problem is the small parking lot. Watch your cart though...seems people who shop here don't think twice about nicking stuff out of your cart. read more

I visit this branch all the time but tonight was ridiculously disappointing! I was shopping around 8:00 P.M. and I noticed that one of their sales clerks would come right behind me and adjust ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that I touched. Loudly "fixing" the clothes that I just previously slid from one side to the other on the rack. This clerk looks at me and says WE WORK TOO"! I said, "excuse me"? She repeated what she said and added that customers do not look through clothes the way I do, I was moving the clothes too much! Long story short I told her a few things and then asked to speak with the manager. When I spoke with the manager she informed me that they were short staffed and had more sections to straighten up than usual. I politely told the manager that has nothing to do with her RUDE customer service! The manager was cool and said she would speak to her. I guess uptight people work everywhere as I did not expect this especially from an employee in this store which was my favorite. Tell uptight Curly Sue to chill out the next person may not be as nice, it's a good thing I just came from bible study. Otherwise the store is always clean, people are always pleasant and they always have adequate clothing selections in every size. read more

Being a foster mom, I am always on the lookout for gently used clothes for my kids. I visit all the Goodwill stores in Broward county, Plantation, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Hallandale,Coral Springs and have found incredible finds, always name brand, Carters, Gymboree,OshKosh,etc at incredible prices. People always ask me where my kids get their cute clothes. They have a color of the week indicating 50% off that items. Have also purchased brand name clothing for me, Chicos, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Levis Sean John, etc. for a fraction of the costs. Was raised on going to thrift and consignment shops so I know a real find when I see one. read more

Holy cow! Gina was right. This place is ENORMOUS. I passed by on Saturday, and like Gina, I made the same U-Turn. Also, like Gina, I used to go to the other thrift store that was here for vintage furniture. But this place blows that one WAY out of the water. It's HUGE. GIGANTIC. And it's clean. I was there for almost two hours and I found some fun, funky threads. I will def. be back for another round because that's the fun of thrift stores, you never know what you are going to find. And with a place this big, it seems those endless options become even more endless. read more

I love this Goodwill and visit there all the time. It is clean, very well organized, and much more classy than other Goodwills I have been to. Unlike many reviewers, I go only for the books. There are hundreds of them, in their own section. Going here is like going to a used bookshop. No matter what they are, the books are all the same price: 75 cents for paperbacks, and $1.50 for hardcovers (though some cashiers have charged me $1 each before when they see my shopping cart full). I have found some incredible books here, including a 1st edition "Beloved" by Toni Morrison (worth about $600, and I got it for $1.50), a 1st edition "The Chosen" by Chaim Potok, 1st edition set of James Michener, brand new complete Edgar Allen Poe, vintage 1920's school books, and many, many, many more... Highly recommended! read more

I was in the Hallandale store waiting to purchase some clothes and a lady had purchased several items but didn't have enough money to purchase a $25 purse so she asked the cashier to take off the purse to lower her price so I asked if the lady didn't purchase the purse I would like to purchase it she told me NO she was going to put it back because someone else wanted it? I asked if the person was still in the store she said no she had left. I asked to speak to the manager and she said I am the manager. That same lady was talking to the(manager) earlier. The lady that didn't have enough money left the store and the other lady who was talking to the manager earlier ran back into the store and asked the manager(the same lady she was talking to earlier) for the purse she told me she wasn't going to sell it. I stood there not in their sight just to see if she was going to sell it to her she did what I knew she was going to do she sold her the purse and I approached the manager and she told me I had left. I didn't leave the store at all I stood in line again a man was in front of me that's why they couldn't see me. What makes me different from her was it the color of my skin? I will never shop at any Goodwill Stores again. I will report this to their corporate office. I emailed and faxed them this letter so happy I got names. read more
