They take us to our table, a party of 2 mind you, and sit us at a cafeteria style table for 6. There were PLENTY of 2 tops around. People who came in after us were seated at them with no problem. Again, weird, not a deal breaker but getting more irritating. Our waitress came over quickly and was amazing the entire night. Attentive and prompt. She took our drink and app orders. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. It is marketed as upscale. Why did she bring us drinks in plastic cups and say they were out of glasses? Excuse me? I am paying over $200 for my meal to drink out of plastic cups? We get our appetizer and it is delicious. Cajun Crab dip. There is a lot of dip and only a small bread loaf, so we ordered an additional loaf after we ate that one. Our waitress put the order in promptly, but the kitchen never sent it out and she had to go find it. By that time, our app was cold. We still ate it, just another disappointment. Our entrees came out promptly, both of us having ordered the Delmonico ribeye, medium. I added a lobster tail. We both had mac and cheese. I had greens, my husband Brussel sprouts. Neither of our steaks were cooked medium. Both were medium well and tough. $52 steaks, fyi. We had already been there an hour and with all of the other incidents, I was just ready to go. Sides were good, lobster tail was cooked perfectly. To sum it up, long wait even with a reservation, weird seating, plastic cups, forgetful kitchen and over cooked steak. Go team! The goal of the program is to foster early childhood literacy by providing free books and reading events in laundromats all over the country. The foundation like to focus especially in underserved neighborhoods by providing free laundry days for the parents and have some volunteers read to the kids while the parents are doing their clothes. Its a win win! We came by a while back to collect the books and were so impressed by the amount of books donated. Not only that the quality of the books were unbelievable. There weren't cheapy books that you get at the dollar store. No there were high quality books for children from infants to about 8-10 years old. Wow, really touched by that. Thank you guys for such generosity!

In a desperate attempt to make my boys' life easier, we went looking for an alternative, by a recommendation from friends, we landed at Creme. To this day, I could not be happier! First, the boys are thriving, they are well cared for and most importantly, they are happy, they actually say "we want to go to Creme". After interviewing and considering 9 options, Creme School was to the top selection. Finger print access for sign in and sign out with locked doors. When you walk in, a full wall of screens showcase the cameras and classrooms for transparency. The teachers had a long track record and tenure and have been really sweet to our 2 and 4 year old. Fun, there is a splash pad, playground and activities. Some locations we visited were in need of repair or dirty, but Creme is clean and well maintained. Our prior daycare drop off experience was very hectic and loud. The Creme experience has been calm, nice music like you entered Saks and smooth handoff with teachers. We have been customers for 4 weeks and the switch was super smooth with both kids saying they like Creme more and never complaining. Bonus, they allow you to pay with credit cards with no extra fee to get those hotel points.

I'm like many people in Atlanta: I own a bike, I like riding, I frequent the Beltline and other rail trails, but I'd like to be more independent and confident in cycling in and around the city. Atlanta has made great strides towards being more bike-friendly, but it still takes a bit of gusto to get comfortable riding on the road. This class helps with that. First off, the class was FREE due to a grant. However, I would have paid for it in a heartbeat. It was super helpful and really just enjoyable. We talked about bike safety basics, some basic bike maintenance tips, and did drills on signaling, watching for traffic, riding in a straight line, dodging road debris, and group ride safety. Then we did a group ride around the city. The class was 9-1:30ish, and I thought it was a perfect length. The group ride was the most amazing part. We rode from ABC's office in Cabbagetown through Grant Park, to downtown, Midtown, O4W, and back. I can honestly say that I never thought I'd ride my bike in some of those areas, just because of traffic and the state of the roads. Nedra made the whole ride seem easy and fun. She not only led us, but also took the time to share little info nuggets. I thoroughly recommend this class, and I will be checking out some of ABC's other programs in the future!

So when I came here to ATL, I hated the fact that it is so dangerous to ride on streets especially on the way to Emory (I've had some classmates get hit by cars and have to go to the hospital). I just took the beginners class on urban cycling offered by Atlanta Bicycle Coalition (formerly Atlanta Bicycle Campaign)- and it gave me a great primer on how to safely ride throughout the city, in just about every circumstance. It's a ~4-5 hour long class, which not only teaches you concepts via very helpful videos, but also teaches you some techniques to avoid bike accidents through demonstrations and practice time (everyone brings their bikes to class). The going rate for this class is ~ $25, but for students, it's only $10!! If you want to be more comfortable with using your bike around town, this class is definitely worth your time (and money)! There is a contact person listed for nearly every business and many have thorough profiles describing who and what they are. Many of the members have been involved for years (each listing has a notation for how long the business has been a member). You'll find everything from lawyers to contractors, and more. I thought it was an overinflate issue. The wheel locked, decimated. CARRIED my bike 5 blocks. So piss'd off. FWIW I do not blame the person who did the original realignment. It is not his fault. It's the manager for setting up a bad chain of command and her appalling gaslighting. They said "Yeah your rim was already indented, and look, it's the back rim too. When the brakes applied to that, this front wheel rim split, caved in and exploded.". That'll be $85 more, they said. New wheel, inner tube, costs. Uhm. What? The alignment of the brake pads is done when you align them TO THE RIM OF THE WHEEL. You cannot align the brakes without aligning the rim, they work together in a pair. That is the time to tell the bike-rider of the impending catastrophe. I was so angry. They didn't tell me. Or warn me or make it known. I requested a discount from the manager. I'd just had the brake adjustment. This lady nicked and dimed me. They fixed the brake alignment and must have seen my coming back for more. Jeez. Switch bait. She gaslit my Every. Single. Sentence. Blamed me for not having a service earlier, for not noticing it myself and said it wasn't their responsibility to tell me about the rim. Uhm, it's LITERALLY your responsibility. I'm not the technician. Brake pads apply to wheel rims. It's Literally. Your. Job. argued I told her I felt very unsafe and didn't trust this shop now. She argued my every sentence. She said anything she could at every turn to make herself look good. Lady. At least have the COMMON decency to agree with a sentence out of my mouth. I shouldn't have to argue over and over or defend myself when I'm telling the manager I feel unsafe. When leaving, she told me to take care of servicing and to come back for adjustments. Lady, if you think I'm ever coming back to this store, you're crazier than I already think you are. And I'll expect her to reply to this with yet more gaslighting.

The library is a fantastic space. I came for two days to do some archival research and I just fell…read morein love with the place. The construction itself is wonderfully crafted and the inside consists of three floors. I spent most of my time on the second floor where I used one of the three nice microfilm machines. I called (last minute I must admit) and they acommodated my request the very next day. The reels had been set aside, and one of the staff members Mr. Cox kindly gave me a tutorial of the machine. You can't bring liquids or food into the reading room so they have a nice set of lockers right outside the room so you can lock your items up. This space is really a community space, especially for the minority members that they serve. It's a great place to study and read. Parking can be a bit difficult though, but it's doable.
