We were greeted by 3 staff members (apologies I don't remember their names). I initially thought this was just a venue to smash stuff but it was explained that this is a mental health venture aimed at spiritual healing. After signing the waivers and donning our PPE, we went in. The wooden structure isn't huge so you cant get running starts or make any long over hear arm movements, but it ended being just the right amount of space to get your smash on. Initially I was caught up in the novelty of smashing things, but a point in time came where that novelty faded and I found myself tapping into an aggression and emotion I did not go there with. It wasn't until I stood there out of breath with my hands sore that I truly understood what this place was for. That session provided a space and avenue for me to truly let go, for just a little bit. If you haven't done that recently (or ever), you need to book a session to understand what im talking about. A challenge was issued to me to put in work on the water heater and I made a decent hole in it but that thing was tough. They sure don't make em like they used to.

The site was well furnished with safety gear (goggles, gloves, etc.), tools (bats, sledgehammers, etc.) and objects to smash (microwave oven, water heater, glass bottles, etc.). It was stress relieving and fun with the opportunity to damage and destroy inanimate objects in a normally civilized world. I definitely recommend if in the DMV area.

I was literally pulling up at 9:55am (it opens at 10am) and I see another lady dropping items off out of her car. At that time, I get out of my car and start pulling a box out and a young man comes running over to my car yelling at me about how I'm not supposed to be dropping stuff off before hours. He accused me of leaving a pile of stuff in front of the trailer. I told him I literally just got out of my car and there was no need for him to give me an attitude because I would wait the 5 mins until they open. He proceeds to tell me that he's not taking my box and tv until he cleans up all of the stuff in front of the trailer. He was rude, condescending and unnecessarily disrespectful. I try to extend people grace because I need it too, but when I told him he was being rude, he snapped back again and walked away. Everyone is allowed to have a bad day, but this was unnecessar. I should have paid more attention to the 1 star review. This may be why people dump their stuff before the staff gets here... to avoid these nasty attitudes for the staff here when you're trying to do something good.

He did not call. At 5:30 pm as we were leaving the house he showed up, no apology, and just as we were preparing to leave. They serve indigent clients and yet they turned up his nose at many of our pieces and rejected them because there was a stain on the wood or a knob missing. I was shocked they would deny poor people items for such trivial reasons. Overall not impressed with the lack of courtesy or appreciation. I'll go with Goodwill.

My grandmother is buried here, as are two uncles. They're near each other, so it's zen to come with flowers, maybe even a blanket to sit on, and just mellow out for 20 minutes. There are peacocks that live on the grounds, which both fascinate yet confuse me (I didn't think peacocks could live in this climate?). The only downside is that I wish their hours were later in the Winter, but I know that they have to consider the shorter daytime hours.

Contacted Army Vet Hauling on Memorial Day after someone backed out of purchasing my old furniture…read more(a twin bed, loveseat, couch). I was panicking at the thought of having to just leave the old furniture in my apartment since my move out day was the very next day (I am only 5'1 and unable to move it alone). At first conversation he was very understanding of my situation and really wanted to help me out. He went as far as switching around some prior engagements to help me. He arrived the next day earlier then our stated time, moved all of the furniture out of the apartment for me and even completed the task in less than an hour. We even discussed giving it to Salvation Army or to a Battered Woman's Shelter. I appreciate all the help and will definitely reach out to them again.

Everything was really well laid out, which made it easy to browse without feeling overwhelmed (not always the case with thrift stores). There's a ton to look through, and the prices are pretty solid. Using College Hunks was the absolute worst consumer experience I've had in decades! An associate of mine originally referred me directly to Habitat for Humanity's program that accepts donations that are reused in homes they renovate. During a visit to make a donation at a local Goodwill Center they told me that College Hunks had a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill to pick up donated items. I thought this was a good way to get the items moved from my home and support a reputable charity. I called College Hunks to understand the partnership and to get an estimate for removing 7 theatre chairs from my basement. The customer service representative told me they use cost ranges related to how much truck space is needed to move a customer's items. But because my items were so specific---7 chairs---she was certain the cost would be "about $150". She went on to say she was sure of this because the chairs were similar in size to 2 large sofas and the cost for two sofas would be "about $150". I explained that I also had a stereo component to donate and asked how much more it would cost me to include that item. She said "oh I'm pretty sure they will include that in the $150" I made the appointment for the next day. The truck arrived later than the several hour window they gave me. I knew I was in trouble when the "driver supervisor" Renaldo Kevin L. starts off by asking me in a used car salesman tone "how much do you want to pay for this job"? Somewhat confused by his approach, I told him I had an estimate of $150 from his office. He said "oh no this will cost you close to $450". I explain that his number is 3 times more than what I was quoted. He insisted that "the customer service folks make this mistake all the time, but what they told you has nothing to do with my price. I'm in charge". He offered to "lower" his price to $380. I call their office to ask them to review my estimate in their system and or listen to the recorded conversation. The customer service representative repeated the exact same words, at last 6 times, no matter how I asked for a solution to this problem. He said "There is nothing I can do. The driver is in charge of determining the cost". I asked for a supervisor. The call center representative told me "every supervisor is in a meeting". I then asked for a call back when the supervisors are free. He committed to have someone call me that day. Needless to say no one called that day or any other day since this occurred. By this time "supervisor" Renaldo Kevin. L is annoyed by my efforts to address this issue. He proceeds to tell me "now I'm going to take the price back to $440". I ask why and he tells me "because you are being disrespectful". I tell him this is some classic "bait and switch" tactics. He then tells me that he's decided to not do the job at all and that "I can call another company". I had a furniture delivery coming the next day and needed to have the chairs removed, so I had no choice but to pay this guy $440 to remove the 7 chairs as opposed to the quoted $150 or something reasonably in the same ballpark. I am unclear as to why reputable charities such as Goodwill and? Habitat for Humanity would align with these kinds of business practices. Never again!!!! read more

What I can tell you is this -- I came here looking for decent suits and I found *many* of them. Racks and racks full of suits. I tried on around 10, I bought six of them. In that group of six, only *one* will need alterations. That's right -- five suits bought and ready to wear for right around $100. I've been to a bunch of thrift stores in the DMV. Really, look at my other reviews. Bottom line -- if you want real variety in men's suits, I haven't found any place better yet. Yes, maybe some thrifts have *nicer* suits on a per capita basis, but at this store, you'll have a lot of options and if you have a relatively common body-type like mine, you can come away with a full closet if you want it.

I've gone back in spoke with someone else who also had no freaking idea how to work the machine or give me my refunds. She gave me the church treasurers phone number. Still no response and no effort to rectify my now four days of a drained bank account and tons of overdraft fees. Moral of the story, you might find some nice things here but only use cash! Pretty ridiculous to accept cards if none of the staff have any idea how they or the machines work ‍

Our class wanted to organize a clothing/food drive, and Martha's Table seemed to have the most bang for your buck. You can always donate in liquid like every other organization, but not as feasible for someone on the student lifestyle. There's plenty of drop-off locations for clothing and baby items across the city. If you can give food items like canned and dried goods, you gotta go to their Maycroft location on Columbia Rd NW. Easy to just reserve a 15-minute appointment on their website and drop off our load. I see their trucks all around the city serving the community - here's to hoping everyone's littles go a long way.

The bathrooms were clean and nice but you do have to walk through a staff area to get to them. I found some really great pieces here! Some Value Village tips- think carefully about which day to come. Mondays and Thursdays have 25% off sales but they are busy. Weekends are busy too. You can always get a 20% off coupon if you donate. Also, since there are no changing rooms wear something close fitting so you can try on clothes over what you're wearing.

The money they collect goes towards scholarships and small projects that help the Andrews Air Force Base community. They carry clothes, accessories, and household goods but are limited on space, so very little furniture is available. It is also a fantastic place to shop for a bargain, especially during PCS (Permanent Change of Station) season! Access is limited to those with military base access.
