Plus, some of my peers aren't where they need to be, so it makes group projects suck. They seem to care more about the money than actual student success. Most of the positive reviews are from years ago. The place used to have a great reputation, but now it's just not the same. Until they sort things out, I wouldn't recommend Austin Coding Academy. There are other coding bootcamps out there with much better reputations and outcomes for a similar price.

The Staff - The leadership and instructors at this school genuinely care deeply about 2 things. First, they care about you. They want you to succeed. They want you to make more money. They want you to take care of your family. And they do their best to make that happen through curriculum, project-based teaching, and networking. Second, they care about creating a workforce of people who can code well and contribute to the world. 2. They are affordable. Do the research yourself and compare, and these guys will still come out on top. 3. All the employees, from Raymond, to my recruiter, Hanifa, to the director, Dr. Johnson are all very hard workers and answered my calls and texts promptly, even on the weekends. They all work early to late for their students. They were easily accessible. All the students who were there with me were very friendly and we all encouraged each other. These courses might be great for someone who has their company paying for it but to me they're extremely overpriced if you're footing the bill and looking for a career change of any kind. Goes way too fast and it's just not likely for a 10 week course coming from no experience to become proficient enough to get a decent job in the field. The "advisor" told me no experience was necessary and the "front desk girl just finished that course and got a job". To me it feels like a lot of the for profit schools that tell you all you can do and charge a ton. There are basically free sites/courses that can teach you the same thing. I messed up and I accept that which is why I'm leaving this review to help the next guy/girl.

After 12 weeks of focus and hard work, thanks to GA, I have built a strong foundation for a career in front-end development by gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies. The intructors were fantastic. The experience they bring to the classroom taught us to think like developers by providing just enough guidance to maximize our time in the program while allowing us to struggle through obstacles the right way rather than taking shortcuts. I can honestly say I learned more during those three months than I did in college. Moreover, the outcomes team provided more than enough tools, and networking opportunities to land a job I was excited about. Make no mistake though, you will get out whatever effort you put into this course. Don't sign up if you're not ready to work hard. Beyond providing a hard skillset, this course inspired me to challenge myself and enjoy the learning process again. With each new project comes new puzzles to solve, and with each new language comes new obstacles to conquer and skills to master. We have instructors during the whole 6 months every single day, from 9 to 5 pm. They explain to us the topic of the day/week and then we work in different projects that helps us to practice the new stuff that we learn every day. The main reason that I choose Galvanize over other Bootcamps, is the timeline. Being a 6 months program I think offers you more time to wrap your head around new concepts and new languages such as JavaScript. In addition, you are a Galvanize member and get free access to the building even during the weekends. Another great thing is the support that they give you during your job hunting. They help you with the resume, cover letters and how to prepare for interviews. Personally, I've enjoyed very much my experience here, and I have nothing but great things to say about Galvanize.

The tactical/weapons training world has some pretty insufferable personalities but Mike and Branden, the two instructors, are easy to get along with and also very vigilant about keeping people safe and everything pointed in the right direction. They set a good tone for the atmosphere of the class which is very important when you're dealing with firearms training. I grew up shooting guns since around 8-9 years old but I still benefited enormously from training. Everyone picks up bad habits with all kinds of skills whether it's writing, driving, or weapons manipulation. If you own guns it is your responsibility, dare I say, "duty" to get some good training and get some new pathways going in your brain that will enable you to operate your weapon safely and effectively. Odds are you would never have to use your skills (or lack of) to defend yourself but if you do get training with a good outfit like Hex I promise you won't regret it because you'll have fun, feel more confident, and eliminate some of the silly, magical thinking that plagues so many gun owners. After getting my CHL, I've taken a few other classes in the central Texas area to try and build my expertise, but my experience with Hex Tactical was so positive that I needed to get out here and recommend them. As a civilian who doesn't get their rocks off playing pretend soldier, I really appreciated the Hex Tactical approach. No yelling (unless it was required for the drill) - just a safe, positive, fun atmosphere that allowed me to really step up my level of expertise. I've done some work on my own with more experienced friends, but these classes got me shooting, reloading, and clearing malfunctions faster and more accurately than I thought possible for a civilian like me. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I highly recommend Hex Tactical. Hello, I finished this class about 2 weeks ago and will give you an in depth report on the class…read moreand how it went for me when I took it, I finished the class with an A, this class is not impossible, far from it, but you will need to commit to it if you want to succeed in it. (TDLR below) -IT IS FAST PACED- If you are looking for the fasted class to get in and get out, then this class is for you, if you need more time to learn things and get the hang of them, this class is not for you. ( most classes range from 4-6 months, this class is a little less than 3 months) -IT IS NOT EASY- This class is not an easy class, don't expect to be able to just skim over the chapter and come to class, you will need to put in the hours to learn the material. There are after hours almost everyday open to all the students who want to review tests, quizzes, need more help understanding a concept, ect. But you have to take those options, along with reading the chapters till you understand them, not just expecting it to be covered in class. -THIS CLASS WILL PREP YOU FOR THE NREMT- This classes final exam is much harder then the NREMT. The quizes you will take in the class are each exceptionally hard, but don't worry they do not account for much on your grade average, they are there to show you what areas you need to improve on, as well as showing you ways the NREMT will try to trick you. I averaged about a 75% on quizzes and still made a 90% in the entire class. -GRADING- There are a many reviews for this academy saying the grading matrix is too hard, its really not, you can afford to fail almost every quiz, score a 75% on half the exams, and still pass the class, the grading matrix is set up to give you a ton of leeway for the harder parts of the class. As long as you do your homework and read the chapters, you can pass. They give you 2 retakes for the exams in case you fail, extra credit, and tell you what will be on the exams. My class started with 30 people, about 15 finished the course, those who did not finished failed out for one of two reasons, attendance or not studying/doing the homework. Only 3 people who failed out for grades were actually trying in the class and needed extra help, the rest either A were not reading the chapters well, or B not going to office hours or using the help given to them, most were both. !!!--Every person who read the chapters and showed up to office hours (with the exception of 1 or 2 people) passed the class, even those who were struggling, failing every quiz, used both of their retakes, and didn't grasp the content very well, passed the class. tdlr USE THE RESOURCES GIVEN TO YOU, YOU WILL BE FINE IF YOU DO SO. those who didnt failed out and left 1 star reviews saying the class was too hard--!!! You are given an absolute ton of information and material to help you pass the class in the website they give you access to when you enroll into he class, you will need to use it, they have study guides for every quiz, exam, and final for the class along with any piece of information you will need to know to get through the class. TDLR. If you cannot give the this class 2 or 3 hours a day to study, cant show up to office hours and read the chapters, do not take this class, take an easier one. If you can and you really want a quick class that will set you up for paramedic school or straight into NREMT then into a job, then you will benefit from this class. --Over all I loved the class and would recommenced it to anyone who want to go straight into paramedic school or into a job.-- Below are areas the class can improve on, and things to look out for if you decide to take this class. 1. There are like 20 instructors who each teach he class differently, some just read from the power point, others compare the material to what you will find in the field, some skip the entire power point entirely to focus on skills, some care a lot about the students and will go an extra mile for them, some genuinely don't give a sh*t about them, some are very kind, others are rude and apathetic. You don't know who or what type of teacher you will get with each day, that was a common complaint in the class, it was too difficult to follow along with the content when each day someone new was presenting it in their own new way. There needs to be more uniformity to the teaching styles, I scored the best on exams and quizzes when Aimee or Tito went over the content, and scored the worst on Exams and quizzes when Roxanne taught. Don't let instructors skip half of the lecture because they don't feel like covering it *cough* Roxanne *cough*. 2. Move patient assessment skills to both the beginning of class and the end. Students need a mental template of how patient interactions will go when they start the class because the book teaches them the material in a way centered around signs and symptoms found in patient assessment. Along with having a few assessment scenarios that are acted out in person.
