Pros: I like that they are easy to get in to on a short notice and the waits are never long. They have competent doctors and her treatments from them have always been effective. I WILL NEVER RECCOMEND OR VISIT AGAIN. I brought my dog to…read morehave his shots updated, get a flea and tick prescription, and have his nails cut. The lady at the front desk is extremely kind, but the vet tech who came out immediately had a bad attitude and barely acknowledged me which was the least of my concerns, but another negative to note. We discussed what we'd have done and when the actual Vet came in, she asked if I had any concerns I wanted to discuss before they did his shots and I mentioned he doesn't like his nails done, so I'm unable to do them myself. As the vet is preparing to give him the shots, she asks the vet tech which leg they go into! It is ABSURD that the VET is asking the VET TECH where to administer the shot in front of me. I was seriously questioning if this was her first day and we were her first patient to which they should have discussed prior to coming in the room! I mean it is extremely unprofessional to be asking these questions as if you don't know right in front of me. As I mentioned earlier, I had already communicated that he doesn't enjoy his nails being clipped. When the Vet tech brought him back in, she said they were only able to do a few back nails and then he was done. I just said okay unaware of the charge I was about to incur. 416 dollars later, I notice the ridiculously overpriced shots and I was charged the full amount of the nail trim although they did less than half of the service on my 14 POUND DACHSHUND. I email them and am told I will be called tomorrow by the manager. Well the next day comes, she calls and immediately is hehe-haha-ing, clearly trying to mitigate the situation. Anyway, she informs me the mistake made was that the Vet, who is new to the clinic, did not inform me they could give me gabapentin to administer at home and bring him back another day to finish "free of charge" LOL! So, it's not free of charge because I will pay for the medication, and then they will finish the service I ALREADY PAID FOR AND THEY DID NOT COMPLETE!! She also claims "Oh so they actually got all of his back feet and his dew claws" I wanted to hang up right then, because I am not an idiot and I can tell you for a FACT the dew claws were NOT done and only about 3 or 4 of his back nails were done. This entire phone call was irritating, because the manager was clearly trying to use a lot of filler words and sentences. I am not interested in why the Vet didn't tell me options, how many clinics she works at, or that your other clients take the meds and do them at home.. especially after I already clearly stated I was not going to do that AND all while she continuously spoke over me. The right thing to do would have been communicating pricing without completion and the medication option FIRST, but since they didn't do that, it would've been fair to refund me at least half of the 30 and whatever cents back (although they did less than half of the service) They are extremely unprofessional and they have you sign something to be recorded during the visit which is a red flag indicator they have clearly had issues before. We will never be returning to this Vet and I would not recommend them to anyone in the area. Other than the nails, the lack of communication, the attitudes (minus the front desk lady), and unprofessionalism are more than enough to steer anyone else away.

Writing this review following our initial emergency, prior to our follow-up visit!…read more Our dog experienced a seizure (her first ever) at home, a few weeks ago. We had just moved to this area a few days prior, so we called the closest emergency vet we could find. The staff on the phone were able to calmly handle the situation (and calm us down), tell us exactly what to do, and we were waiting for us the second we arrived at the hospital. Once at the hospital, they took our fur baby back, and stabilized her and her vitals. Dr. Shuttleworth came out to tell us she was stable, no more seizures, and presented us with all of our options moving forward. He was calm and reassuring. The staff was ALL friendly, and knowledgeable, and most importantly, not pushy (allowed us time to figure out what the right path was for our family). They were up front about ALL options, pricing, and suggestions. I really appreciated the staff being supportive, and giving us direction. I felt they were concerned, receptive to all of our questions and fears, and really made our situation better (less scary for us). Also to note- I was not available the day after (while our fur baby was at the hospital having procedures done) and I was able to call once off work to get the full report of all the testing, firsthand from the neurologist (Dr. Warren). I appreciated him taking the time to explain tests & labs to both my partner and me (was not annoyed at all that he had to repeat all the information twice during the day) Moving forward, we will have follow- up appointments with Dr. Warren, at the same location. I appreciate that they have several specialists here, if you need one after your initial ER visit. Yes, it is expensive, just as any animal hospital is. I don't think their prices are much different from other emergency vets we've been to (for previous, non-related issues). Loved this ER vet and would recommend to others in the area. Competent, compassionate, and caring.

NC State managed to stabilize him and treated us with professionalism and respect, informing us of costs all along the way. TVRH is a terrible facility that provides sub-standard care for sky-high prices. our vet told us to never take animals to this hospital and to go to VEG in Chapel Hill instead.

The USS Hamsterprise was already quite old, but he was my best friend, and I was desperate to find a vet that would see him. They got me in quickly and looked him over, and even did a free X-Ray. It turned out the little guy not only had a mass, but had some food impacted in his cheek pouch- I can't imagine how uncomfortable he was. I was given painkillers to ease his discomfort, and as I would come back for more, they started doubling the doses given while hardly raising the price. The USS Hamsterprise might have been just a hamster, but Dr. Grossi seemed to genuinely care about him and I can't express how much it meant to me. They even sent a card after hammy passed away. Recently I brought in two little guinea pigs for a checkup, and although they could've charged me double, the receipt showed that they gave a discount and examined one piglet for free. I have every intention of bringing any future small pets I have here.

Dr. George explained everything that could happen and all of the recommended tests. They did NOT do a high-pressure sales pitch on the tests but explained exactly why they were recommended. They provide an estimate for all treatments and both his tests and the surgery he required fell within the estimate. Dr. Kruse was his surgeon and she did an amazing job, given that she had to take 1.5 cm from a cat's ear. You will hardly be able to tell that he had a good size piece of his ear flap removed. It's like having a disfiguring surgery and getting the cosmetic surgery free. I was not able to fully follow the aftercare instructions about keeping him in the Cone of Shame for two full weeks (or even more than an hour). But Dr. Kruse followed up with me for status reports and fortunately his ear is healing nicely without it. I appreciate their flexibility on this. They are also allowing his regular house-call vet to come for the follow-up so he doesn't have to go in the carrier again for another few months. I like that this practice has specialists -- veterinary oncologists, surgeons, and cardiac specialists. So you can be sure that your pet is getting state-of-the-art care.
