We retained Harris Law for a high-stakes family court matter and paid a $2,500 retainer. During our initial consultation with intake staff member Ursula, they were eager, attentive, and full of promises. The second the check cleared, communication completely vanished.
Here is what our hard-earned money actually bought us:
Ghosted after payment: Beyond a single, dismissive 10-minute check-in, the firm went completely dark. Zero updates, zero strategy, zero accountability.
Unprepared and clueless: We scheduled a formal consultation for 4:00 PM on a Monday. By 4:15 PM, nobody had called. I had to chase down their office myself. When they finally got attorney Joe Soloway on the phone, he was thoroughly disorganized, completely unprepared, and had no idea who we were, what our names were, or what our case was about.
Extreme last-second negligence: With our case going before the judge the next morning, I had to practically beg him to take basic action and file a motion to dismiss. He dragged his feet until the absolute last second, finally submitting the filing at 11:59 PM--literally sixty seconds before the deadline.
To top off this chaotic, negligent, and downright reckless representation, Harris Law drained our entire $2,500 retainer for essentially zero meaningful work, leaving us financially burned and severely behind the ball on our legal matter.
This firm operates like a predatory, money-grabbing operation that treats clients like disposable paychecks. Attorney Joe Soloway demonstrated the absolute peak of professional laziness, incompetence, and disregard for his clients' lives. He was utterly passive, unresponsive, and completely indifferent to the urgency of our case.
We ultimately had to pivot to a highly reputable, exceptional law firm that was the exact opposite of Harris Law--sharp, attentive, and deeply professional. Do yourself a massive favor: avoid Harris Law at all costs and hire attorneys who actually care about their profession and their clients.
