this store is an oasis for anyone who loves pens, paper / stationery, notebooks, greeting cards, sketchpads, and many other goods for the study. this store is deceptively large as it stretches back with neatly arranged tables, shelves, and other displays. the selection of pens, pencils, and mechanical pencils is great especially since you can doodle with most of them before purchase. the interior is bright, clean, and has a warm ambiance. the staff is superhelpful and do a great job of finding things that meet your ink and paper dreams. this is also a great place to pickup unique gifts for people who appreciate non-digital means of recording thoughts and ideas!

Very cute place for notebooks and school supplies. It's categorized by color and makes you want to write and have a fancy office. Sadly I passed by yesterday and it was closed. Will definitely come again.

Grown up stationery heaven - mostly geared towards high quality notebooks (lined, dotted, gridded, blanks) of various sizes, weight, and texture. If you love touching nice paper, buying cards, and trying and buying new pens, this place is a palace. You can easily spend 1 hour here flipping through all the different note books, testing out casual to intermediate quality fountain pens, and other misc stationery goods

You know what I love about this place? The people and the music. I felt like I was in my own "home office". No pressure...just love. I'm a fan of their bookstore on Spring street, and the owner is an EXPERT curator. but, you'll have to check that out on your own. Why can't pens and paper be expertly curated? Well, apparently they can, because here it is. You might think this is "boring", but every little station draws you in. (no pun) But they let you test the basic pens on some writing paper. Kind of like a doodle placemat for adults. I love that! Cards, paper, interesting staplers.... whatever you don't think you need....you might find a reinvigorated affinity for here. The music was simply the finishing touch. I've been in soooo many places where, as a middle-aged adult, the music is just a turn off. Here, the simple classical notes just seemed to go with the products. It's how I envision a perfect shopping experience in the futre. They got something here. Check them out.

I stopped by about half an hour before closing to ask about getting a recently bought pouch resized to fit my laptop. Even though I truly felt like a chicken walking around without it's head, the owners treated me with kindness and respect. While I felt sheepish about my request and my lack of of familiarity with all things sewing, their warmth helped me feel at ease. The shop itself is small, as is such with most mom and pop establishments, with Hossein working his magic in the back, buttons a galore in the front, fabrics in the middle, and ribbons scattered throughout. I could spend some time inspecting and exploring each and every texture and color available but didn't want to dilly dally too much before they were to go home. Overall, they were able to take on my sewing request--it was reasonably priced (I think!) and I helped myself to some paracord for a little craft project of mine. Very comfortable space with some people who are experts in their field and provide a very calm and reassuring energy. I'll be back to pickup some bits and bobs here and there rather than taking my business to a big retail store like I usually do. An east village gem!

The store layout here is a big congested and feel the checkout area and online order area could be better designed. I placed an order online for store pickup and it was ready in less than 10 minutes after I placed the order, which was quite impressive (I couldn't go until a few days later). The pickup area is located to your left as soon as you get off the escalators. There really wasn't a shelf to get your items and your bags situated after you pick up your item and the waiting area was quite small. No one was there when I went to pick up but a line of about 5 people behind me formed as I got my item making it a bit tricky to navigate to leave the area while also trying to stuff my item into my bags. The general checkout area was quite tight as well. It's long and it's sometimes hard to see if a self checkout counter is open. Self checkout itself is pretty easy to use and I like how the machine is able to detect if the handheld scanner was properly placed back in its slot before it moves forward with checking you out. I was able to find my account easily and apply all my coupons during my transaction. The staff I asked about inventory were quite knowledgeable and were able to point me to the right aisle to get the things I needed. things were well stocked and neatly displayed as well.

To some degree I understand that many retailers are tighter on inventory to reduce how much needs to be sold at deeper discounts after certain holidays are over. However this also means certain things run out and there's no selection left which could also mean lost sales, which was the case when I came to look for a couple Christmas-related products a week before Christmas and much of that section looked decimated outside of wrapping paper, kitchen/dining supplies, some decorations and wearable accessories. They were already setting up for Valentine's Day. Walking around the store, I still appreciated that this location is still around, it's been a while since I've visited so I was glad to see still a strong selection of frames, scrapbooking supplies, paints, yarns and ribbons/trimmings. They also installed more self-service checkout machines. The shopping stop wasn't altogether unfruitful in that I picked up a pack of baked goods boxes (to place home-made cookies/pastries inside before gifting to others). I hope next time to find more of what I need!

I've looked for shops like Pink Olive when I relocated to Los Angeles but it is yet to be for the West Coast. Well, it was just ADORABLE to see all the fun gift items, bought some gifts for my friend who was traveling to Europe. Because of the anniversary, shopping was double fun while munching in some GF treats! OK so prices are on the mid to high range, but you wouldn't find most of these items outside of Pink Olive. They are specially curated by the owner, Grace Kang who has a proven track record for being a buyer for major department and boutique stores. It's whimsical and unique, I feel happy being there and that day was no exception. Definitely want to check out the new location in Little Rock, Arkansas and hoping someday Pink Olive will finally make it out to LA!!
