The electrician who come to the house to install the new upgraded panel/service showed up exactly on time, very respectful, very well-mannered and extremely talented at what he does. This job would have taken most a full day, he was bout 4/5 hours and extremely neat, very well organized and highly professional. Beautiful clean job when he was done. Outstanding electrician and just an all-around great guy. As well in the past they have had another electrician here a couple of times fixing items from previous folks before we bought this house. He again was another outstanding guy, highly professional, excellent electrician and again all-around great guy. Holsey Electric is a joke -- and not a funny one. Johnny…read morerolled up through my Choice Home Warranty because my basement outlets were dead. Two hours of poking around and the man had nothing. Then the real show started: my wiring was "all wrong," the entire thing had to be ripped out and replaced -- oh, and wouldn't you know it, that's the part my warranty doesn't cover. But lucky me, he had his business card ready in case I wanted to pay him directly for the job. I threw him out of my house. Twenty minutes later a competent electrician from a different company walked in and had the actual answer in 15 minutes: one bad outlet. He swapped it. Everything works. Let that sink in. Two hours of "expert" work vs. fifteen minutes and a single outlet. He either has no business touching a panel, or he saw a homeowner he could scare into a fat rewiring job and tried to pocket the work himself. Maybe both. Do yourself a favor -- call literally anyone else.

Update: Didn't install the ground wire correctly. The bonding bridge was screwed into the wall and…read morenot connected to anything, including the ground wire. There is no connection to neutral. I was also told the backfilled dirt would "settle", and it sank further into the hole. Now there is a divot and the ground rod is exposed. Hired to add a ground rod. Guys showed up on time and worked quickly, though I did have to remind them to backfill the lawn properly (initially just left a hole there, and the ground rod was barely covered). Dealing with Dave Watkins was a whole other experience. Told him I was going with a different electrician I had worked with prior, and he made many assurances that he would definitely beat the price (told me the range provided on Yelp was "just a number," which was the first red flag). On the day of the service, refused to talk to me on the phone or via text when I asked to discuss the price. Then one week later, gave a price that was higher than initially discussed and that I should reference an "invoice" he sent (he never sent one). When I attempted to discuss the pricing with him, finally, he became aggressive and threatened to put a lien on my house. He then stated that he stands by the quote even if it was half a million dollars. His reason for a higher price was "extra work"; in fact we had discussed the work ahead of time, and it was a standard part of the job (a bonding bridge), making me concerned that he would not have completed the job with required parts if I hadn't reminded him to add it. My experience of working with Dave Watkins is that he will make empty promises, not communicate properly, come up with invoices after the fact, claim that things have happened which did not, and escalate to threats instead of having a conversation with people. I eventually paid the bait and switch amount that he demanded after his threats, but I would hate for anyone else to end up in that position. I would never work with this company again.
