The office is conveniently located in East Cobb and easy to find. Parking is also accessible. I was greeted promptly and taken care of as soon as I arrived. I had a bit of a wait but once I was taken to the room I saw why. Dr. Louis offers TOP TIER service! She takes her time, listens, provides detailed information and answers ALL questions! I felt so well taken care of and am hopeful that the recommendations will resolve my issues. Either way - and unlike the previous dermatologist I saw - she scheduled a follow up so we can check in. 10/10!!!

Upon arrival I was greeted by staff at the front desk who not only took their time to check me in but made sure I felt comfortable. The nursing staff and Dr. Dionne Louis were all very kind and ensured that I was comfortable throughout my visit when being seen as well. The body check was through and all questions I had were answered during my appointment. I am looking forward to continuing my medical relationship with Goodman Dermatology in the future.

Called back today and was told right off they don't take market place insurance (Obamacare.) I don't have that kind of insurance. Even after telling the girl that answered the phone what kind of insurance I had she had to place me on hold several times to talk with the office manager. She came back on the line and told me they don't accept my insurance. So I called my provider. Sure enough this office is in my network. So my provider called them and conferenced me in after explaining to the new person that answered the phone that they did accept my insurance. Then they tried to say that the Dr. Goodman wasn't accepting new patients. That was a lie because a) He was the doctor at the event trying to get new business and b) the first girl I spoke to said he was booked until the middle of October but he was available after that.

Oh well . . . I went here because, after doing a Google search, I discovered they were one of the few physician's office near me that offer XTRAC laser treatments for psoriasis (and vitiligo). I found my first visit with Dr. Gardner was fine - and I felt that he had a great bedside manner. I was a bit surprised that he didn't come back after the biopsy to tell me what to expect - because MAN - I was not prepared for the excruciating pain later that night - or the pain and sensitivity over the next few days. It was bad - even if I wiggled my ears - it sent ripples of pain across my scalp. But I digress - with the exception of one experience with one person - I found the staff to be excellent, including the front desk / scheduling team (gotta give a shout out to Denise - since she shares my name) and the PA and Nurse Practioner, Sarah and Sandy, respectively. I actually didn't think I needed a biopsy - having had one 8 years ago on the exact same spot - and Dr. Gardner 'kind of' insisted. Let's just say he 'strongly recommended' the biopsy- MULTIPLE times over the course of the 15 minutes. He said that while he certainly COULD give me steroid injections or XCTRAC treatments - but didn't want me to waste money because neither of these options had even a remote chance of working if f I didn't have psoriasis. So I did the internal eyeroll, thinking the biopsy was going to be wasting a lot of money (self-pay) for nothing and consented. Turns out - this spot that's been plaguing me for years and growing, threatening to turn me into Sherman Hemsley - the very same spot that the previous biopsy indicated that, it was psoriasis - turn's out it isn't. I saw the FNP, Sandy last Friday to remove sutures and discuss treatment for lichen simplex chronicus and I'm hopeful that they can help get my scalp back to a normal, healthy condition.

    ### Acworth Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center Review…read more Unfortunately, my experience with Acworth Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center was extremely disappointing, particularly when it came to respecting our time and communicating with us as patients. Today, I had two separate appointments for my children with Dr. Johnathan L. Chappell. Both appointments were scheduled for 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM. As new patients, we arrived approximately 10 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork. For my son's appointment, we were taken to the examination room on time, but then waited **more than 30 minutes** before the doctor came in. I eventually left the room to ask the staff what was happening because my son was missing school and I had taken time off work for the appointment. Shortly afterward, the doctor came in. The actual examination lasted **less than four minutes**. I literally timed it. The doctor did not turn on the examination light or appear to conduct a thorough physical examination before diagnosing my son and prescribing a lotion. I had to ask additional questions to understand how to use the prescription and what the follow-up plan would be. Later, I brought my daughter in for a separate dermatology appointment. Again, we arrived about 10 minutes early. This time, we waited **more than 40 minutes** in the examination room. Once again, I eventually had to leave the room and ask what was happening. Approximately two minutes later, the doctor came in. This appointment lasted less than eight minutes. Although it was somewhat longer than my son's appointment, I still had to ask multiple questions to get information about the prescriptions and what we should expect going forward. What was most disappointing was what happened afterward. I explained my concerns to the front desk and said that I felt it was disrespectful to make patients wait that long. My children's time and my time are valuable too, especially when appointments require missing school and taking time away from work. The response I received was essentially, **"I always have to wait at doctors' appointments. That's how it is."** There was no apology or acknowledgment that two separate appointments had involved waits of more than 30 and 40 minutes. I understand that medical offices can run behind. I also understand that unexpected situations happen. What I don't accept is the idea that excessive waiting should simply be considered normal or that patients should not expect better scheduling and communication. I have been to many doctors' offices where I have not had to wait more than 15-20 minutes, and where the physician takes the time to properly evaluate the patient, answer questions, and explain the treatment plan. Because of this experience, I cancelled our upcoming follow-up appointments and will be looking for another dermatologist. I am not expecting every appointment to run exactly on schedule, but I do expect patients and their families to be treated with respect, their time to be valued, and their questions to be answered. **Based on our experience today, I cannot recommend this practice.**
