AMAZING SERVICE. I was a walk in with no idea what I wanted and Pedro lead me to find out what I wanted. It was so calm and relaxing, I'm freshly 18 getting a thigh tattoo and he made sure I was correctly covered and comfortable with anything he had to do whilst tattooing me. Amazing personality and great convo. 15/10 !! read more

I wouldn't even give Good work Tattoos a one star, extremely rude staff, I was told to never come back there because I closed a bathroom door. Extremely nasty horrid attitude I did not feel welcome and was not treated like a human being I was looked at like an animal. I also noticed a random tattoo needle on the ground. Not sanitary, I wouldn't recommend this. Place to my worst enemy! Terrrrible staff. Is it that hard to be treated with mutual respect ?! DO NOT GO THERE!!!! read more

I was in town for Mardi Gras and a friend suggested Chris Blanchard at Uptown for vacation ink. I chatted briefly with Chris, and he created this badass Craw Daddy tat for me. It's absolutely stunning. The lines are perfect. The color and shading are superbly executed. It's been just over two weeks since my appointment, and the tattoo is healed. I followed Chris' instructions and had no problems. I'll be back in NOLA for another visit, and when I am there, I will definitely be booking more ink with Chris. I couldn't be happier. read more

Good Work Tattoos - 16 days post-tattoo. Completely healed, and beautifully so. Largest tattoo to date. Many thanks again to Chris at Uptown. - Tattoo Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Shouts out to Dave and Dom for putting some damn Good Work on my skin over the past year, cant wait to get back on the table and finish my thigh. 5 star spot, and the work is A-1 like steak sauce read more

Went here to get tattoos with my sister. Dominique was very patient, professional and helpful. We wanted dainty, fine-lined tattoos and that's exactly what we got! The others there are friendly too!! But I'm not going to write a review based on how "friendly" the people there are. If you want good ink, good vibes, and good memories. Go to Good Works. read more

This tattoo shop is very awesome. All of the artist have great portfolios and are super nice. All of the employees are super knowledgeable and helpful. It is a clean shop, great flash, and super cool vibe. If you are planning on getting a tattoo in this city I would definitely go to UPTOWN TATTOOS. Terry Brown, Dave Nollert, Dave Hood, Billy Bracey, & Lad are all fantastic artist...... And remember "good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good" read more

This is the premiere shop in New Orleans for American and Japanese traditional tattooing. The owner and hometown hero, David Noellert, has put together an all-star team of four tattooers including himself. Noellert is known the world over for Japanese traditional tattooing although his American traditional work is just as strong. I have a piece from Noellert, multiple pieces from Brent Mccarron, and am looking forward to getting tattooed by Chris Blanchard and Ert DiRosa. These guys are about as clean as they come and are all super nice and professional to boot. Bywater as well as New Orleans has been missing a shop like this for years. read more

Rob and Dave were great. The atmosphere was great also. The tattoo shop was very clean and the guys brought our vision to life. Thanks again guys!!! read more

Lad has been my go-to guy for a while now. I've followed him to whatever shop he's working at... Can't wait to get more ink from him soon. read more

Terrible service. Only customers in the shop and wanted a small flash piece for me and my girlfriend. 3 artists in shop and it took the female an hour to "prep" and copy a simple flash piece. Really they were tattooing each other, and making as many trips to the private back as possible while telling stories, and playing on their phones. We filled out our paperwork and it sat on the counter for the entire time, with our artist 10 feet away; never saying a word to us the entire time. Yet can sit there and play on her phone, while quoting statements in a bunch of accents in banter with the other tattoo artists tattooing each other. This happened at shop opening with no other customers ever coming in. After an hour of this we just left as they didn't even notice we were there. Worst service I've had in a tattoo shop in America. read more

Great place and decent price. I'm from nyc so tats cost $$$! I went with my gf and niece who were getting tatted but found the prices so reasonable I got one too. Dom and David were super patient and kept a great convo. We were all very pleased with our tats. Clean place inside which u may not think so from the outside. read more

I did a lot of research since this is my first time getting tattooed in New Orleans and this place has great reviews...and rightfully so. Brent is the shit. His sketch was exactly what I pictured and he was really easy to talk to; which is important since I needed a distraction from the needle. Clean, friendly, professional, and talented. What more could you ask for? I love this place! Everyone is really friendly and easy to work with to create your vision. They might even let you pick the music while you're getting inked. read more

Came here looking for a tattoo with my boyfriend. Picked a basic design for one and a flash piece. They had 3 artists available and we were the only customers for an hour and waited the entire time to be seen while they were conversing tatting each other without any contact or updates as to why we were still waiting or what was happening. read more

I gets my shit done here. Talk to the clerk at the desk, fill out your form, figure out wtf you want, go grab a few drinks at Cooter Browns next door to calm yourself down and come get your ink. I'm still in the process of finishing my back piece from here. So many long hours of laying still, I learned to bring a pillow.. sometimes a blanket to cover up in. All the staff are very well experienced. Store is very clean and everyone is helpful. They will work with what you want.. CASH ONLY read more

Had an awesome experience here! I booked an appointment with Justin Olivier, and I am thrilled with my (first ever) tattoo. The shop was as clean if not cleaner than my doctor's office, and everyone treated me with kindness and respect. Highly recommend. read more

My husband and I have used Brent as our tattoo artist for 3 years. We followed him from Uptown to Good Work, and I am impressed with the new setup. I was a little wary when we first drove by because it's in a rundown-looking building. However, those fears were quickly squashed when we went through the door. It's an open floor setup and, of course, very clean. read more

Some friends and I hit NOLA for a ladies weekend and all wanted to get tattoos. This was my first one, so I was a little nervous. Went into Uptown and immediately liked them. The store is clean and bright, and everyone was helpful. Chris did all 3 tattoos for us, and all 3 of us love them. Great tattoos from a great shop. read more

I am a serious tattoo collector so I do my research prior to getting tattooed. When I first discovered this shop, I knew I had to get tattooed here. I made the two hour drive from Lafayette to check them out. As soon as I step foot in the shop, the staff was friendly and welcoming and made me feel right at home. Getting tattooed can be a nerve racking process, but the professional crew and relaxing environment helps put your mind at ease. The shop was very clean and well lit, which is what you should expect from any reputable tattoo shop, but unfortunately isn't always the case. The walls are covered in hand painted designs from the artist that actually work there, which is an anomaly this day and age, and is a clear sign of the artists skills and dedication to their craft. I would have gotten tattooed by anyone at the shop, but Dave was available the day I came in so I jumped at the opportunity. Right off the bat he was so friendly and easy going and made me feel extremely comfortable. I've come across a lot of artist with big egos and attitudes, but this was definitely not the case with Dave. He was so humble and patient with me while I was attempting to explain my vision. He was able to listen to my idea, figure out my wants and needs, discuss different options, and come up with a drawing that was far better than what I could have imagined. Once he had drawn and sized the design he was transparent with the pricing, which was very fare considering the quality of work he provides. His station and setup were clean and well organized. He demonstrated the highest standards of sterilization and precautionary measures to insure safety, which is a must when dealing with blood. During the tattoo, he made my experience as comfortable as possible and even let me take a break half way through. I have sat through 50+ hours of time under the needle and I can honestly say, Dave is one of the fastest and most efficient tattoo artists that has worked on me. It something you really appreciate when working on large detailed tattoos. My tattoo healed great and I couldn't be happier with the process or the end result. I've been back again multiple times to get tattooed by Dave and others at the shop. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to get their first tattoo, a vacation keepsake, or a full back piece. Whether you are a tattoo newbie or avid collector, want a tiny tattoo or a full sleeve, Good Work's got your covered. read more

I am new to New Orleans, and had gotten all my previous tattoos done in NYC. Someone recommended I go to Uptown Tattoos...and I am SO GLAD I DID! Kenny was a guest artist..and he was AMAZING. I got my last name written on my ribs and was worried because words are more difficult due to the straight lines. Straight lines on ribs and curves is no easy task. Kenny could not have done a better job!!! He was ready for me when i got there...and made it a great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! read more

I have never been to a tattoo shop that is both friendly and professional. From the initial call to after tattoo care, Ert was amazing! If you're in NOLA, go there!! read more

Uptown Tattoos' new location, downtown (hence the name change) is a perfect example of professionalism and dedication to the craft. Chris Blanchard, Dave Noellert, Brent McCarron, and Ert Dirosa, in combination, have been part of the tattoo community for over two decades. They all work to personify what their customers want and need, in a relaxing, positive environment. No pretense here, just solid, amazing tattoos! read more

I went there today to get my second tattoo! Chris was amazing. It was a very simple tattoo, but he did a great job with it! The place is very clean. I think I saw him change his gloves at least four times before we even started. If I weren't moving, this would definitely be my place. read more

Expensive but well worth it! The artists here are really sweet and helpful, Iwasnt entirely sure what I wanted until I sat down and talked it through. Couldn't be happier! 100% recommend. read more

Such a good experience! I had been going back and forth about what I wanted and where I wanted it and I looked on Yelp for reviews. Long story short, I ended up driving down (out of towner) and talking with Billy. We discussed ideas and he came up with this awesome piece that I'm extremely happy with. It's almost completely healed now and I had to take the time to give them a shout out. If you're looking for a tattoo in New Orleans, GO TO UPTOWN! Extremely friendly and just a cool a** shop. read more

I would definately recommend Uptown Tattoos to anyone who wants fantastic color work (Ramon did my tat, & he was great). I got a 4x4" magnolia flower on the inside of my bicep and it looks just like a photograph. The shading and highlighting is wonderful & i get compliments on it all the time. (The shop is also very neat & clean). -Ana read more

Out of all the things I miss about New Orleans, Uptown Tattoos is definitely at the top of the list. I moved away about a year ago, but I still recommend Dave Hood to my friends in the area. I don't think I've ever trusted a tattoo artist more to listen to my ideas and draw up something about ten times cooler than I could have pictured. Dave Hood did some sleeve work on my arm, and the intricate detailing of a Da Vinci drawing he tattooed is seriously some of the best work I've seen. If you're planning to get ink in New Orleans, I can't imagine why you'd want to go anywhere else. read more

I found Dominique on Instagram and booked a session for my trip to New Orleans -- she was totally awesome, the shop was chill and nice, and my tattoo is beautiful. I was worried about dealing with a grumbly tattooer since I hadn't met her in person, but she was the complete opposite. Her work is bad ass and I can't wait to get back to New Orleans for my next tattoo! Go see her! read more

I have 4 prior tattoos, and by far this is the WORST experience of all 5 total. I looked up reviews on this shop and my friend and I decided to go there during our vacation to NOLA to get matching tattoos that we have been planning for awhile now. We are both in our 30s and 40s and are very experienced with tattoos. The artist, Chris, did both of our tattoos and unfortunately cut too deep (worked it too much) on mine and now it is having a very hard time healing. My friend is also unhappy with her as his hand was shaking and one line appears to be crooked. We will both have to get them re-done, and seeing as though we already paid $80 for a very small tattoo, this is very frustrating. Additionally, I am going to have to go to the doctor to get antibiotics to heal the deep wounds. I attached a picture where you can see the deep cuts. The ink will not show up over the scars that will be created once it heals. I suggest using another shop and at the very least another artist! read more

Good Work Tattoos - WORST tattoo ever. Do not recommend Uptown in NOLA at all. - Tattoo Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

EXCELLENT! I got my first tattoo-my sister her second. Both were GPS coordinates, mine on my chest and her's on her foot. The artist, hood, was awesome. Very nice, funny, and helped me get through it. Would ABSOLUTELY go back for my next one!! read more

Been there three times already. Everyone that comes into town to visit and is looking to get one, I take them there. Really clean, nice guys, and they are very easy to work with. They just get it, no matter what you're looking for. Also it's usually easy to get in and get a tattoo same day depending on what you want. read more

We came for a bachelorette party and a tentative schedule. Somehow they made it happen. Talk about place that is easy to work with. The owner walked in and saw our crunch for time and squeezed in another of us. We had some more willing broads than we had planned for. NOLA... right? Stuff happens. As a group from all over the US, we all decided we would be coming back for you guys. Thanks for taking us like champs. We loved the work you put in. CASH only. So pay attention. There is a nearby ATM if you forget you read that and a sign in the shop to remind you. Enjoy. read more

I'm a NOLA native who sadly moved away several years ago. In any case, Eye Candy on Magazine recommended Uptown, and I went last weekend for my first tattoo. And let me tell you: Dave couldn't have been any better. I showed him exactly what I wanted--just an S on my arm--and he delivered and then some. He made me feel calm: confident about the process and safe. Usually small talk drives me nuts, but we bonded quickly over our shared love of cats. He was instructive on how to properly care for my tattoo, and he explained everything he was doing from the moment I sat on his table. Great guy, relaxed shop, wonderful experience, and I love my tattoo! read more

I would be wary of this shop. got tattooed by one of the younger guys. treated it like every other tattoo Ive had, clean hard soon after, then gently and thin aquafor. i think his stuff wasnt properly sterilized or something, maybe using a bad ink. seemed to quickly generate immune response, may be infected. healing out very bad, will likely have to have it redone elsewhere. been through many shops and artists before, never had a problem like this. there are a lot of good shops in NO, id suggest looking elsewhere unless you know the artist at uptown you want. read more
