Also, please know that most nursing professionals are ethical, trustworthy, and honest. However, we must highlight the ones that are not as they do an injustice to the profession as a whole. Valencia is a dishonest individual. In the beginning, she presented herself as professional and honest but as the relationship progressed, it was apparent that she does not know what the word "honesty" means. I was referred to her as someone who prescribes weight loss drugs in her practice. Valencia and I had a telehealth visit and in September 2024, I paid her $450 for a month's prescription of a weight loss drug, which she ordered and had sent to my home. We repeated the process for October and that went well also. For my November dose, I paid her my $450 but waited an inordinate amount of time and did not receive my medication. I reached out to her, and she stated that she was having an issue with the pharmacy but that she had a dose at her office and would bring it to me, which she did. I took a break from the drug so did not order for December. In January, I spoke with Valencia about reordering, and she said that would be okay so on January 31, 2025, I sent my $450 to her via Zelle as I had done previously. She verified the receipt of the money and stated that she ordered the drug. I waited 7 days, and it did not arrive. I reached out to her to let her know that and she did not respond. I waited several more days and still she did not respond to my contact, nor did I receive my medication, so I sent her another text message on February 12, to which she also did not respond. On February 14, I sent her an email and asked her to refund my money. I received no response to my email. On February 20, I spoke with my friend who made the referral. My friend spoke with her and said that Valencia said she would call me. I received no call from her. On February 21, I sent her another email letting her know that I would seek legal counsel to retrieve my money from her. On February 23 she sent me an email saying she would send my money that week. As I write this review, it is now April 7, 2025, and I have still not received my $450 nor have I heard back from Valencia Covington. I usually do not do reviews but decided to do this one as I would hate for anyone else to be swindled out of their hard-earned money by this dishonest and untrustworthy individual. Valencia, you are a shame to the nursing profession that I love and revere so much!

To preface, my experience at Promises was so poor that I made this Yelp account - my first, ever -…read morejust to leave this review. I am copying this review from my Google one, as it is as concise as I could possibly make it to follow character count/s. If you want the full story, feel free to email me at caelynjw421@gmail.com and I will tell you. Before I delve in, a few good things: Bob (the cook) was great. Super kind guy who was dedicated to making sure everyone got what they wanted/needed to eat. Tiffany was an amazing tech, and her groups actually felt fun. I didn't dread them like the others, which just felt like schoolwork. The therapists were great, although I didn't have the best experience with Liz. Star (my therapist) did what he could under the circumstances of being so overworked, and Amaze and Katherine were also so kind and compassionate. The one NP was great; the other, not so much. One of the day nurses (apologies, I have a bad memory) was my favorite nurse ever, and she always called me "her strawberry" - as I regularly wore strawberry-themed clothes. - Intake knows nothing. Do not listen to them. Promises is a business and they want to sell. My parents paid 15k out of pocket and they are STILL trying to wring more money out of them. - Shoshanna, the clinical director, is a narcissistic bully and pathological liar. She did not take my chronic illnesses & disabilities seriously until she needed to use them against me. She specifically targets the most vulnerable patients. - 98% of the nursing staff had no compassion. I saw a patient have multiple seizures that they disregarded or missed entirely; other patients took care of her, including me. I saw a patient beg for her meds to be picked up for multiple days. When given my belongings, they forgot several of my meds. - The other staff are the same. Jeron: thinks he knows everything. He will call his actions "tough love" when he is just being a bully. He made me cry multiple times and framed it as my fault and me "disrespecting him." Nikia: made multiple inappropriate comments about my body and clothing that no one else cared about. Chris: called me "entitled" after rescinding things I was told, so I requested my cell back to call my dad about it. Never apologized. Ryan: told me I was not going to "crash out" about being given a roommate last minute despite continually saying it made me uncomfortable + that I used the full space (again: disabled. Mobility scooter) and would not let me sleep on the couch...while another person was. There were multiple open rooms. - You are locked out of your room for 12 hours a day. I was told "no one will have their doors unlocked all the time" while multiple people did, yet I had to BEG to be let into mine between groups. I was in excruciating pain almost every day. - My parents had to pay another $600 out of pocket to get me a mobility scooter. The original wheelchair given to me was kept from me for days. I could barely walk, but was forced out of bed and not permitted to lay on the sofas - again, being told no one could, but watching numerous other patients do it. - My narcoleptic & hypersomnic episodes were treated like I was just being "lazy" and purposely trying to skip out on group. I was told I could lay my head down if needed, only to be woken up multiple times. - Another patient almost assaulted me and threatened to (or actively did) assault multiple other patients and staff, but was only removed from the unit when she was found self-harming. Our fear did not matter. The handbook says they are dedicated to the comfort and protection of all patients - what a joke. - When I finally filed a grievance form, it was not taken seriously and never went past Bill telling me he "understood my frustration." Promises is, frankly, lucky that I have not had the time to file a lawsuit - yet. They will be even luckier if I don't have the time to, but I absolutely plan on it. I can only assume all of these good reviews are from addiction-only/addiction-conjunction patients, but I received only mental health care. The program was half-baked at best, which multiple staff admitted. Go anywhere else. Send your family member anywhere else.
