While we really liked this resort I would not necessarily recommend it those with physical challenges. There are actually 3 separate buildings that compromise the resort. The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!

Stayed at lake house and king suite on the water front each for a couple of days…read more King suite by far better. Big, on the lake, comfier bed and pillows. There is a whirlpool bathtub we didn't use but the bathroom is huge. Downside in both rooms were spiders on the balcony (staying early September). Huge ones too. You brush them away and they come back in an hour. The lake house feels like camp. The room has a nice wood vaulted ceiling but that's the only nice feature. The carpet, bed and bathroom were pretty clean except that we found shavings in the sink and the faucet cap was missing and it was all rusted and corroded. The bathtub also had a draining problem. And the bathroom was super tiny, and the tissue box almost fell in the toilet multiple times. The toilet is not a home toilet but one you find in airport bathrooms. Blech. The best feature is the community room bar area which is really cute and spacious. The foosball table was fun but it is from the 80s or something. Small pool table, didn't get a chance to play. The atmosphere is a 60s chalet and it's great for playing board games, they have a few but we brought our own. As a guest at the resort you get access to all three building so doesn't matter where you stay, you can use all the services. Downstairs there is a pool and hot tub, just cement with a hole in it. My husband used the hot tub and was lucky no one else was in it. It's very big and has lots of jets. The whole room is very basic and can use a deep clean and some potted plants around or something to make it pretty. I have no idea what the rec room outside the pool could be, dirty carpeted area that I can picture a two year old running around circles in- that's about it. Wasted space. There is another pool and hot tub in the main building and it is a trek away from the other buildings as it's nestled in the back. It's super hot and steamy in the whole room and it looks newer than the other pool but still very basic. For a romantic getaway I highly suggest booking any waterfront room or suite, the view and rooms are much better cared for and more updated looking. Also having access right to the lake instead of walking across the street is a huge benefit. Only downside is the parking lot at waterfront is super tiny and you have to do multiple k turns and it took me 15 minutes to park into a spot. And the entry with the gates is awkward while your car sticks out in the middle of the street. But still the rooms and views are worth it. Only hotel I've seen that has paddle boats too. Lots of equipment available to borrow which is great. The place is a 4 star hotel but to me it's more of a 3. It is the cheaper of the 4 star hotels on mirror lake and I think it's because the amenities and rooms are old (still functional though). A lot of crevices in the rooms weren't cleaned, like spiderwebs in corners of the balconies and under the radiator. The service is very attentive though. They were super accommodating and everything I texted them about was dealt with in a timely manner. I really like their text service, so you don't have to keep calling the front desk for every little thing. Free coffee in the lobby of the main building and lake house every morning. Plenty of spring water fillers around the property. We didn't use the fire pits but last lighting is at 9pm and you have to buy your s'mores and equipment. I don't know if we would stay here again but if we did we would book a suite.

Between cigarette coughs, the owner checked us in and introduced us to her dog Bailey- named in honor of Bailey's Irish Cream. Yeah, that kind of set the tone. One of the prominent landmarks at the Hilltop Motel is it's 20-foot tall satellite dish that was apparently last maintained during the Carter administration. It sets new standards in the international world of paint-peeling competition. Despite the gargantuan satellite dish, the TV in the room only pulled in 5 stations, and two of them were duplicates. And as for the ambience in our room, well, let's suffice to say that it was an old-school motel room. Old showers, old windows, old everything. At least it was cheap

If you're hiking and you want to stock up on water, you're going to be happy. 2. You are able to take kayaks out for a paddle on the lake without additional reservation - just grab a life jacket and put in the water - it's shallow right near the inn so you can easily get in and out without falling in if that's something you're worried about. 3. A well kept pool that is comfortable and enjoyable on those sultry summer days in the ADK 4. Tennis rackets and bikes (both of which we didn't use, but could have) make it easy for you to get out and active during your stay. Staff persons were very kind, helpful and at your service. I couldn't have asked for more. The room we had was #43 and whie it didn't have a particularly great view (it was the parking lot), we could easily go outside and see the lake right outside our door. There are chairs outside the room so you can sit and relax outside. The sunset over the lake is quite beautiful and on our last night there, we went and sat in the grass by the lake to take it all in. The room was small but sufficient - clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small but functional and there was plenty of hot water with good pressure. The beds were comfortable enough, I would only have wanted a more fluffy pillow. This is a perfect little family style motel on the lake. It has a great location, plenty of ammenities and friendly people. You're not getting first class ultra luxury, but you're getting a simple and relaxing stay with all the best Saranac Lake and the ADK has to offer. Would definitely stay here again.

The food is typically quite good. The building is beautiful and perfect for a romantic dinner. I LOVE the yoga instructors. It seems the owners are not as present as they were when the business first opened, and perhaps this has caused some of the issues other guests have noted. There are definitely worse places around, so we will continue to patronize New Vida and enjoy it for everything it is.

Very, very poor customer service, if you have an issue needing to be resolved. First, after trying…read morefor days to actually speak w/someone to tell them they overcharged my credit card, (was only supposed to be charged 50% at time of booking yet was charged the full 100%), they were unwilling to rectify. I also booked weeks prior for 10 days and something came up so I asked to switch dates to 2 days earlier- was told they could not do that, although they were not fully booked. Then, because of the lack of even trying to accommodate, I attempted to cancel but they refused a refund and said there would be an additional charge if I cancelled. It was obvious since this is a self-check in, self-serve motel that this is just an investment property as the owner and manager who are not onsite showed zero interest in making anything right, nor was there a willingness to be flexible- far from hospitable. Zero stars for customer service. I did keep my reservation but would not choose to stay here again. To be fair, the rooms were clean and nicely renovated, as well as the grounds, and self-serve area. That is the only positive experience but unfortunately, because of their horrible customer service, they lost repeat customers.

Some of the other rooms we peaked in had been refreshed and looked much nicer. The owner is a fine fellow, easy to work with and get registered even on the 4th and us coming last minute. The price is nice too, we paid around $75. The location is out of town a bit, but in a good way. It is close to the state boat launch which we hung out at on their dock even though we didn't have a boat. There is also a city pump house right on the water very close, easy walk, and for sunset we brought our wine and blanket and chilled out there with no problem for a few hours. Very close to a big boat rental place (non motorized) and a lot of the people staying here were renting kayaks or canoes for day trips. Dog friendly too, at least for us, so that was a key factor in choosing this palce.
