I've only been to one or two adult shops before, and that's with friends, but I can tell this little shop along Harbord is one of the best in Toronto. 1. The store itself. As other reviewers mentioned, I love the ambience of this place. The atmosphere was very relaxed. It was quite a small shop but well arranged, homey and elegant. They have their products out in the open so you can poke around at it and see what the texture/shape/speed is with your own hands. For vibes this was especially useful in making sure it didn't sound like a bulldozer, if you're trying to be discreet. 2. The staff. Bless them. It was my first time alone in one of these shops and as a beginner I was really quite flustered and couldn't get any coherent questions out. Both the ladies at the counter were very patient and helpful! Materials, power source, strength, etc. were explained when I asked about a product. Thanks, ladies. Your easygoing attitudes were very much appreciated. Batteries were offered at the counter. Bag and bill is discreet. It's a little pricier than, say, the chain sex shop down the street (cheapest decent sized vibe is around $30 if I recall correctly), but the quality is pretty good. read more

Good For Her is really good for her, him and anyone who is in touch with their sexuality or trying to discover it. Good For Her is a gold star example of what an adult, sex-positive store should be - none of that trashy big-boobed-mannequin-from-mainstream-porn crap. As a sexual health educator committed to non-judgmental and sex- and queer-positive services, I always recommend Good For Her to clients who are exploring sexual pleasure and broadening their sexual horizons. They offer a regular workshops for a whole variety of things like oral sex, open relationships, BDSM, etc etc. The store front is quaint with a pretty little picnic scene painted on the side of the house. If you look closely, you may find some discrete surprises :) The staff are knowledgeable, open and non-judgmental. I had been to the Everything To Do with Sex Show and I believe I signed up for the Good For Her's newsletter. I noticed that they had sexuality workshops and decided to attend one called Giving Good Head. I was intrigued that this class was sold out couple months in advance so I signed up right away. The workshop was being held at the store. The night of the workshop, I arrived at the store and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small store but it's homey, with free coffee and tea and comfy chairs to sample the books. The workshop was held upstairs. The instructor, Lorraine Hewitt (aka CoCo LaCreme), was great at making everyone feel comfortable and introducing her own exploration into sexuality. I actually learned some interesting things in the workshop (complete with handout!). I loved that everyone there, even if they felt silly, still took part in the workshop with enthusiasm. No one felt uncomfortable asking a question and it was good to have that camraderie with other people. During our break, the store was open for shopping and perusal. I was impressed by the Lorraine's knowledge of various products in the store. When I go into sex stores, I sometimes feel like the employees are just part-time student workers who may know some things but will mostly giggle at what you might ask. Lorraine was nice enough that you would feel comfortable asking her advice on a book or a solution to a problem. Being gay/lesbian/transgender-friendly just boosted the experience even more. All in all, it was a great experience. Whether you're taking it seriously or just as a fun night out solo or with the girls, Good For Her is a great environment to explore your sexual side. read more

I love this place. It's one of the few true women friendly sex shops in the city. (Come as You Are is also nice, but Good for Her makes you feel more like you are in someone's home - and the staff are your trusted friends.) Cozy atmosphere with a book section and staff that is great and really knows their stuff. I can't say enough about the store owner (who had to leave Texas because vibrators are ILLEGAL there.) The workshops are great, and the store website is good. If you have any questions I'm sure the staff will be very helpful - and I trust 100% that the staff will give you their honest opinion about their products - and I'm sure the products are carefully chosen - and only the best stuff. (And after you've picked up a few things from here - you'll wonder how you ever got along before without them.) Good for Her is a gem of a store. It's not creepy nor intimidating. The product in the store is varied and well thought out. Plus the staff is always helpful and totally chill. They will help you if you need but will respectfully let you be if you are shy or nervous about being in a sex shop. They also offer a variety of workshops which always have peaked my interest and curiosity. I love supporting local, small businesses. Additionally, this is the best place to get a great gag gift! I picked up an adorable purple vibe for 35+tax. The lady who helped me was very kind, patient, and cheerful. She knew the products well and was happy to assist. Truly a female friendly store. I was given a voucher for a workshop as part of my birthday present from my girlfriends. So I organized a workshop for us entitled Giving Great Head. What a fantastic night. Our workshop was lead by Lorraine, who was extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. She was able to translate factual information in a fun and interesting way. The workshop runs for about an hour and a half - 2 hours and costs around $350 for a private workshop. There is also a workshop schedule for each month and they do couples workshops too! I am most definitely going to attend some of the public workshops. The shop was very welcoming and they stock a great choice of products to suit all budgets! Based on my experience with Lorraine, I would imagine the staff in to shop to be as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Great little place. The ambience was relaxed and calm, and the staff were super chill. It was my first time in a sex toy store and I felt completely relaxed. The staff respected my personal space until I started really checking out the stuff, whereupon one of them asked if she could help. They helped me find exactly what I was looking for and I ended up buying even more than what I originally came for! (pun intended) The vibrator I ended up getting was high quality but not too expensive, and they will offer you the battery for your selected toy if you need one. This saves a lot of time, especially because some of the toys had rare/unusual batteries. Super easy to get to from Bathurst station, just take the streetcar to Harbord and then walk East for like a minute. Overall a great experience. Very queer-friendly which is always appreciated. I came here in the late morning, only to find out the store does not open until the afternoon. Are you serious? After wasting hours of my time elsewhere I tried to come back, then parking was a huge problem. After going out of my way just to get parked and coming back, the store inside was far smaller than I had expected. The items were over-priced junk for the most part. Not a trans-friendly space. The salesperson acted like she'd never seen a trans person before. She kept repeatedly trying to get me to look at their selection of masturbatory toys for cis men despite my pointed lack of interest and the fact that I was only looking at and asking questions about products for female body-types (and not masturbatory toys, as it happens). The last time I was made to feel that uncomfortable in my body, I was wearing a catheter. I didn't buy anything, because they only had the cis-male and cis-female specific forms of the product I wanted. I didn't notice any products catering to trans+, Two-Spirit, or intersex bodies. Ended up browsing the website, and seeing that my favourite adult toy has been updated and finally is back on shelves. I decide to drop by to pick it up and bring a friend, because she is interested in exploring her wild side. (Truly a great place, because my friend is a transgendered woman, and we had no trouble with this store ever.) The store is currently undergoing renovations - the walls look blank and decoration-less, and the effect is clinical looking. The addition of led light strips to the shelves causes the store to look sterile. The shelves are lined with a grey plush fabric and the different sex toys are laid out on them. The layout has changed a bit. To the front of the store is a shelf with male masturbators and sleeves. The shelves near them hold larger products like sex swings, furniture and floggers. The shelves on the opposite side now hold a bunch of vibrators and clitoral stimulators. The middle now holds a selection of instructional books, erotica and other literature. (Check out the Elisha Lim body of work - they are a great artist!) The next section hold kink tools like nipple clamps, cock rings and other miscellenous items. The wall holds a giant selection of strap on harnesses - so many choices, leather, synthetic,...etc. The wall holds a bunch of anal play toys and gender fuck accessories like soft packers, two types of chest binders and a variety of other objects. (I suggest going to the Stag Shop on Church (the gay village) for more selection in chest binders.) The wall of dvds has not changed, as well as the shelf of condoms and lubes. (I have never seen more latex and non-latex types of barrier protection ever - I love the different types of dental dams you can get here!) My friend and I ended up testing out some of the different vibrational speeds on the tester models. We found a few models that weren't charged and ready to go. We both selected our purchases after half an hour of browsing. The staff went through the process of grabbing our new products from their storeroom, and testing them in front of us with new batteries. (Note, if purchasing the "Thumper" - they don't carry the C batteries needed for this - apparently it's the only dildo in the shop that uses that size of battery!) The staff member reminded us that the toys have a 30 day warranty on them, so if they break within a month, you can get a new one - with receipt. 4 1/2 stars - because the chaos of the renovation and the fact that they don't carry batteries and male to female transgendered pornography. read more

Have not visited the store, but my experience purchasing from their online shop has been atrocious. I've been waiting since Oct 29 for my order to ship (it is Dec 11)- I was going to review my experience after I received the goods but have given up. I pre-ordered an item and two other products. In the weeks following, the preordered item has come into and gone back out of stock and now is back in stock, and one of the other items (in stock when I ordered it) has gone out of stock. Emails take at least a day to be answered and I only get updates about the situation when I email to ask what's going on - there is no process being used to update customers directly when there is a problem. My preordered item is showing in stock and I thought I might have it by now, but a look into their system indicates I've been outrageously optimistic - they are clearly shipping other people's orders yet not mine. If I hear back with anything less than "it's in the mail" I will be requesting a refund. I think they should concentrate on their bricks and mortar shop and leave the online business to people who are organized and know how to handle business professionally and competently. Edited to add: Was called the morning after I posted this by the Good For Her store manager who apologized for the problems I encountered and who promised me my order would go into the mail the same day.
