I had walked briefly around the midway and then needed to read an e-mail on where to meet up for a Yelp elite event. Yep, I didn't read it until I actually got to the venue. Oops! There are places to sit outside the arena. There were two older folks already out there, enjoying the day. Instead, I decided to check out the arena for a brief period. There are a number of steps to walk up to the front entrance. I didn't notice what the accessibility situation was. I believe that it was off to my left. The doors open when you approach them. I love that this arena has plenty of places to sit down, even when you aren't actually in it yet! I sat between the two sets of doors at the front. I walked in and there was yet another area with comfy chairs to sit down. The latter is better on a hot summer day, as the air conditioning is effective there. The rotary volunteers made their headquarters in the arena. Unfortunately, I couldn't see what was behind them. I did get to briefly check out the upstairs. This arena gives you the impression that it's new. It's gorgeous and bright. You know what? It has been there for over fifty years. Who knew?! There is a snack bar. It's a well-designed arena for hockey and more. I would love to come back to an event that is held in this arena. It appears to be a flexible, multifunctional place for various events besides hockey games in the winter. I appreciated that I could sit there and carefully read my e-mail. I figured out that I needed to be on the opposite side of the park by the lighthouse. I loved the inspirational message that you see when you walk into the area. Be nice. I have been making frequent visits to Monarch Park lately, because it's winter softball time and…read morethis is where all the magic happens. First time I showed up there, I was a popsicle, it was possibly colder inside than it was outside. The heater was broken they say and it would take a few days, scratch that, weeks to get it fixed. Weeks later, it did get fixed, but only for one week, because the following week (this week), it's cold AF in there again. Beside that, Monarch Park is a full-sized soccer field is sectioned into quarters and is ultimately an all-purpose field. The many times I've been there, I have seen full on soccer games, adults and little ones training for soccer, there are people running on the track and obviously playing softball. The only downside to this place is the turf, the turf is a mix of "grass" and gravel get everywhere. In shoes, on my jackets, in my bag, everything. For softball, they also use a different ball, it's softer, and therefore bouncier, but it hurts less if you get it. Other than that, I'm just glad I get to continue playing softball indoors.

Live events have finally return to Yelp AND in Mississauga! I originally had tickets to this event…read morein 2020/21, so it was nice that this came full-circle. Tickets were $30 and that included a souvenir glass with 2 drink @4oz/food tokens. Event space was all under one roof for 15 breweries and there was also a small outdoor patio. Food-wise, there wasn't too much selection with 1 cheese place, Tatsu Bakery, a momo place, and a vendor with no sign. Additional tokens were $2.50ea. Tokens didn't really get your much in the way of food, maybe 1 hors d'oeuvres. Certainly not enough for a meal. My plan of attack was simple, visit the breweries that were new to me! Personally, the breweries that I think did the best had some kind of big signage, including one listing all the brews that were available including a brief description. As there was live music playing, I found it quite difficult to communicate with some of the vendors and volunteers. At one point, they also had a live DJ. Turnout seemed to be good, it wasn't too crowded on Friday night. There was also plenty of space to move around and enjoy your beer. Since this is the first year of the event, I think it'll just get better!

My friend ordered a coffee and I think they added a heart on the froth and it looked really pretty. The play that we saw wasn't the best but the theatre was nice. Seating is distributed on a first come first serve basis and the set was created really well for a small budget production. Would I return? Depending on what plays are playing, I would definitely check it out again.

It takes 8 minutes (yes, they'll let you know the precise timing) for them to heat it up and feels so lovely/fancy in the morning. The other day, it was filled with artichoke, tomato, onion and gouda cheese. One time, I got two lavender lemon cookies for 2$. They were amazing! Every sense gets great value by spending time at TTC.

The lineup each year is pretty much the same - they have 2-3 HUGE headliners and then a bunch of smaller DJs that are pretty much the gems of EDM. Whereas veld tries so hard each year to hire the biggest and most mainstream DJs. I liked DD because of its many stages you can walk to. Slightly reminded me of EDC. Slightly. I don't enjoy the actual walking but I do enjoy having the option to move around. They made good use of the abandoned Ontario place. The dreams stage is pretty much the main stage with all the big artists, and echo beach (so sandy.. Literally, don't wear black) is more trance and the Bacardi tent (enjoyed it since it's a nice break from the sun but not when it's full & stuffy) was more bass. They also had a bunch of vendors and food trucks. I did NOT enjoy paying $11 for a bud light. NO. Prices on alcohol are SO not okay. Even lemonade was $8. What? Food trucks were awesome and lines moved by quickly. Some people need to prepare better for raves - I should not see people with LV bags or club dresses. Are you okay? Also people started fighting in the porta potties, which is a situation I do not f with. Generally, I would go back to DD if I had nothing else going on that summer & if the headliners are great. $187 for a two day pass isn't a bad deal - pretty much $95ish each day for amazing DJs, whereas one DJ's concert alone is around $100.

Digital Dreams 2015 Review…read more Me and my buddies were dying to check out a live Martin Garrix set after missing him the opening weekend at Omnia in Las Vegas this past March. So we bought a day 2 single day pass ($99 plus tax and services fees totalling just under $130) to really see him, Zedd, Adventure Club and Sander Van Doorn. It's amazing that Toronto now has huge outdoor summer electronic festivals with top notch worlds deejays all performing. 10+ years ago when I first started listening to electronic, the closest thing was probably an event at the Docks or Labour of Love at the Guv. It was really disorganized this year, day 1 was cancelled because of the weather and I spoke to a guy that worked there and he said it wasn't the rain but the heavy gusting winds that was blowing parts of the stage over leading to day 1 being cancelled. You can't blame the weather on the organizers of the event. Day 2 was suppose to start at 2 pm and end at 11 pm. Instead they changed it last minute to a start time of 4 pm and it was only extended to 11:30 pm. So people who were raging to go from day 1 were shorted 1.5 hours of music and led to massive lineups to get in for day 2. I got there at exactly 4 pm and it took me 2.5 hrs to get in. After waiting 1 hour in line. I tried to scan my wristband and it didn't go red or green, so essentially they sent me a dead wristband and told me to go to the customer box office. Waited in line and got it resolved with a new wristband that worked and it was their fault in 30 minutes. Now I had to wait in line again for their mistake which resulted being in line for another hour. So essentially I was only able to catch Adventure Club's, Martin Garrix and Zedd's full sets at the Dreams stage. Venue: Ontario Place was a great venue for this event, the weather was still raining day 2 but something so amazing about dancing to electronic music in the rain and you're right by Lake Ontario, perfect location and size to accommodate three stages for all the deejays performing. A lot of room to dance too. Alcohol/Food Vendors: I didn't really try any food but I was drinking a lot of vodka and redbull which was something like $11 or $12. All payments were made from your wristband which you would preload with money and it was a cashless system. It went pretty flawless. Performers: Adventure Club was pretty good, Martin Garrix was off that day after watching a lot of his sets online. Zedd imo killed it, he has so many popular hits, didn't matter if you are really into the electronic scene, most people knew the lyrics to nearly all his songs and were singing along and bouncing up and down. Production: Stage, visuals, fireworks and sound were okay. Not as good as say EDC Las Vegas, UMF or Tomorrowland but better than the smaller festivals. Overall, I think the 2015 Digital Dreams festival experience was a one off hence the two stars and I'm sure future years will be better.

There was lots of free parking and entrance was free. We had to show proof of vax and id to get in. There were plenty of vendors selling good, clothing, and lots of other items. I love how you can get items to maintain a vegan lifestyle. A few places also offered gluten free items which I appreciated. Bloomers had gf cupcakes, instantly Yourx had gf pancakes and Ucopia had gf cake mix and pizza dough mix. Gemara bakery had gf crackers and flatbread and a delicious gf veg pie. There was a small sitting area to eat your food and a coffee counter. Overall a fun and yummy event!

Not bad for a first kick at the can…read more I hadn't heard much about the Mississauga edition of VegFest in the weeks leading up to it, but the resulting experience was about in line with my expectations - rowdy, filled to the brim with bystanders and a bit unorganized for a first-year event. I was aware that there were other instances of this festival held throughout the country, including several in the U.S. and a few in Canada (including one held at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto). Although the reviews were generally good on those pages, I know from my experience that you have to keep your expectations in check, especially with how polarizing some startup festivals are here in Port Credit (just wait until Ribfest shows up, LOL). The festival itself was held in the Port Credit Arena, a building with a lot of history... but a poor site to hold a big vegan-oriented festival in. To get to the center exhibition area, you had to wind your way through the back halls of the arena and go up a slim ramp up to the main floor. Not so bad when there are few-to-no people in attendance, but trying to shove your way past mothers with wide strollers and families crowding up the aisles is not exactly ideal. Inside, I found a host of vendors amidst a whole lot of confusion. To their credit, there were a lot of goods on offer here - the program mentioned 60 vendors, and I'm inclined to believe them. Everything from merch to vegan food, soap, health care products and everything in-between. The core issues were twofold. The foot traffic is a nightmare. I found myself getting stuck behind slow-moving groups dawdling around at various booths, alongside screaming children who wanted to leave. In tandem with that, the prices could be a bit expensive, with a definite premium placed on some items (beauty/health products, particularly) even with "deal" prices. That's not factoring in the confusing set-up of the place. There was an entire upper section of the festival that had few visitors and seemed to be an afterthought. The signs direct visitors down to the lower "bowl" area but seemingly gloss over (or at the very least make it unapparent) that there's more than they let on. Minding those issues, though, there was some good selection and delicious food on offer. I found myself stopping to try a cup of vegan gelato after witnessing someone posing for it in a photo op and quite enjoyed it, while a friend of mine came out after an hour with shopping bags full of goods. She told me she spent more than $80 in less than an hour. For next year, I'd hope the staff and organizers set this in a bigger venue, because the arena is way too small for what they're going for. (They couldn't use the Hershey Centre or the Int'l Centre?) There's some good stuff here, so let's hope they iron out the kinks and deliver a marquee sophomore year in 2019. Worth a look.

The Bentway is a public space under the Gardiner Expressway. I have driven by this area many times this year. I did a few times when going to Coca-Cola Coliseum for Marlies and PWHL Toronto (now Sceptres) hockey games. Last night, I passed by it heading to Queen Elizabeth Theatre for a concert. I remember when this space was used for parking during the Canadian National Exhibition (The Ex). It was affordable back in the day. You basically parked on the grass, paid for parking, and walked over to the Princess Gates. Good times. Parking for The Ex is atrocious these days. It's better to take the TTC, mainly because this parking space is gone and it's cheaper than shelling out over $30. If you are looking for parking near The Bentway, you've got a couple of Green P options: - 250 Fort York Boulevard - 800 Fleet Street Paying through the Green P app is convenient. If you need to extend your parking stay, it's easy to do through the app than physically returning to the parking machine to pay for parking. The Bentway is popular in the wintertime. It becomes a skating rink where you can rent skates, skate till your heart's content, and grab some hot chocolate. In the summertime, it becomes a rollerskating party every month. You can rent skates, grab a bite to each from food trucks, and visit a few market vendors. I am looking forward to Dominoes. It's basically a community-building activity of laying down giant dominoes along a 2.5 km path through a number of downtown neighbourhoods. They are cutting through The Bentway. The domino run is scheduled for September 22 (tomorrow). It sounds like a lot of fun! The downside is that traffic is horrible in this area. There was a concert and an Argos game at Exhibition Place yesterday. Cutting through this area to get there was painful. When there aren't a lot of activities in the area, The Bentway is a calming, fun place. Otherwise, pack some patience! (371)
