Forget shrinks. Drinking with friends and officemates is my therapy.
And because I constantly need my alcohol fix, with
a dash of witty banter, I find myself drinking at least once a week together with my kindred alcoholics not anonymous sisters (Hi Leona and Sheryll!)
We knew this was going to be a weekly ritual, and we needed to find a staple watering hole where we can meet up for a little whine and chis...(as in chismis).
Our criteria were pretty simple. 1) It should be near the office, preferably walking distance. 2) It should be affordable. Since we would be drinking often, drinks and cocktails shouldn't cost us an arm and a leg. Hell, we're already offering up our livers anyways. 3) It should have a laidback and casual ambiance paired with a decent yuppie crowd. Yes, we're too old for tugz-tugz and have absolutely no patience for
jej-jej.
Good Earth Roasts perfectly fulfills all three. Located at The Fort Strip, it's 10 cartwheels away from our office. The drinks are pretty cheap which means more rounds for us. Local beers cost P68-P98 a bottle, while imported beers are priced at P148 a bottle. A jar of your favorite cocktail (the amount equivalent to ordering two glasses) goes for P228. What I love about GER is that they do not scrimp on the liquor when they make their cocktails. That says a lot coming from me, because I am no lightweight when it comes to drinking. They also serve a wide array of Chinese dishes perfect for casual dining and pica-pica options that go well with your poison of choice.
The crowd is equally laidback as well; most of them just like us - -young professionals in need of a nightcap. So if you're looking for a drinking hole when you're in the BGC area, GER is a no fail.
Drop by on a Wednesday for their acoustic night, and go order a jar of Mojito and a bowl of chicken chow mien.
Music, drinks, food and friends - -that's how I like to end a long day.
