I was having a casual morning walk with a friend who likes art so it was such an easy decision to make. As soon as we walked in we were wowed by the local art. I saw some coffee in the back and made my way to the coffee shop where I was greeted warmly by Krista who is awesome! I tried their Spring Fling latte iced which has lavender and vanilla with whip cream and the lavender flour on top. Some people don't like the lavender flour, but I love it! It actually feels calming because of the lavender in it. My friend and I had some great conversations with the barista and a regular and it felt like such an awesome community space. I will definitely be coming back here to both see the local art and have more coffee!

MSSA is owned and operated by Laurie Morgan. When I first stopped by to talk to her, she was very open to what we wanted to do and gave suggestions on what art projects she could do with the kids. I liked her "can do" upbeat attitude from the start. Laurie's birthday parties can go up to 15 children and we ended up with seven (including my son). She charges a mere $10 per child (you pay at least for an eight child minimum). You provide all the food and paper products. She leads the kids through the project/games/etc and does all the cleanup. Considering how much we paid for a party last year at a "bouncy house" place, this was an absolute steal. Our son's theme was Angry Birds. Laurie had the boys paint little birdhouses first, then make little puffball Angry Birds to go in them. I have to give her credit, she was incredibly patient with seven very energetic little boys. After the project/snacks/cake, she rounded them up for balloon games in the hall to work off the sugar high. They loved it, of course. Laurie will be holding summer art camps over the summer and I've already signed my son up for a week. He loved his Angry Birds party and can't wait to go back for camp. She also has art classes for adults and older kids throughout the week, and some Mommy and Me classes for the little ones.

My kids participated in the anime summer camp. I have two things I was disappointed about. My first…read moredisappointment was that I didn't know about it sooner. The second was that they don't keep the kids the whole day. My kids ages 11 and 6 truly and thoroughly enjoyed their time at camp. I think it was fun for my 11 year old bc she was around her "tribe" and the 6 year old enjoyed it bc he felt like he was cool enough to hang with the big kids. Both children were able to apply techniques they learned at the camp to improve their drawing skills. They enjoyed making buttons, perfecting their craft and they really enjoyed their teachers too. For the first time all summer they did not complain about this camp once. This was definitely money well spent. My 6 year old wears his shirt to school bc "he wants to support mosaic minds" I promise you nobody told him to do that - that's just how he rolls. They will be back next year- it's too far for us to make it during the school week but it is worth the drive.

But that might be because we had to plan far in advance due to my friend's travel schedule. It is way out there in Tucker. But I always research where a place is before I buy a voucher. So no surprise there. You do have to pick up your piece later- so that is two trips out there. The class project was to make a mug. You don't get to make whatever you want. That's OK with me. They give you some time to play around with clay and practice the depth you need to use with the impressions. Even with the practice, I still didn't use the proper depth, unfortunately. But my piece came out ok. You get to choose from two different glaze colors- I wish there had been more. And the color I chose didn't turn out exactly as I had expected. The staff there was really nice. My friend and I both left something there. Me- my folder of vouchers. My friend- her water bottle and a ring. They held on to the lost items for us. Unfortunately, they didn't come across my friend's water bottle.
