We visited Italy on our first trip to Munich and we had to visit again on our latest trip. On this…read morevisit the outdoor patio was closed, since it's November. They had plenty of seating though and gave us a table by the window. We learned during our last trip that the Alfredo Tortellini is our favorite here, and while I perused the menu I knew we both would end up ordering that. The server gave us a basket of bread and took our drink orders first. I ordered a cappuccino and my husband ordered a beer. We didn't end up eating any of the bread, it didn't come with butter and we were saving our appetite for the pasta. The server seemed surprised that we both ordered the tortellini, but took our order nonetheless and we didn't wait too long before our meal arrived. When it did they also brought a pepper mill and some parmesan cheese that we could add if we wished. The food was delicious, just like we remembered and we both finished our meals, but were very full afterward. It was a good thing we didn't end up eating the bread. They definitely prefer you to speak German or Italian here. We did our best with German, but when it came to pay my husband wanted to leave a tip and the server seemed a bit annoyed that he was looking over the receipt so much (he was calculating how much extra we wanted to tip) we get that it's not as common here so there was definitely a bit of confusion. If you have the option, sitting on the patio is really nice. We'll definitely keep this as a regular stop when we visit Munich and are craving some pasta.

I went with co workers to try a new restaurant that one of them recommended. I also ordered a beer and my meal was less than 20 euros. It was inexpensive in my opinion and I enjoyed my meal. I definitely recommend this place! The service was very good and the ambiance was ok. I recommend sitting outside compared to being inside.

I think, I have found my favourite Italian wine bar in Munich. Friends of ours suggested we try…read morethis place as, they have walked by it many times and have looked in and said they wanted to try it :-) I am glad they suggested it. It was full on the Friday night and, many of the customers were known to the staff, which is always a good sign. The wine list here is excellent and the prices even better. Many of the wines are aged and almost all the wine we had (and we had a lot :-)) was under €30 a bottle which is rare for wines that are up to 10 years old. For this alone I would give the place five stars :-))) The food here is also good. Ok, so my steak was a little bit too salty but, it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were ok and the salad they served with it was divine. We also shared a cheese plate which was really nice, with a spicy jam / sauce, that complemented the cheese beautifully :-)) The hosts here are wonderful and they made recommendations and took care of our needs and, of course very Italian. They let us hang around as long as we wanted (and we did) and asked us to come back again, to which we said, of course :-)) I will definitely be back here to enjoy some wonderful wine and a meal with friends :-))

We had a lovely meal at Il Grappolo including a truffle dish that wasn't on the menu (definitely…read moreask for it!) and the pasta amatriciana. Everything was fresh, simple, and super tasty, including the vino blanco della casa (house white wine--also ask for it!). As others noted, the servers spoke mostly Italian but with a smattering of English, German, and Italian we were ok :) It's good to know that there are very few tables--mostly high-tops--and a decent sized bar, so large parties will not fit but it's worth a visit for smaller parties!
