My moving experience was below average with Gollott and Sons. The packing lead and supervisor were unprofessional, rude, and inconsiderate, which added unnecessary stress to the process. Their planning was poor; they initially intended to pack the entire household on a Friday and leave my family in a fully packed home over the weekend and into Monday, with my stuff not scheduled for pickup until Tuesday. Gollott and Sons reluctantly agreed to leave some items unpacked and returned on Monday to complete the job. They were also hesitant to leave boxes for any goods that may have been overlooked. Worst moving experience possible. This is their warehouse where thousands of dollars of our stuff got damaged in the rain. Furniture arrived moldy and ruined. Movers were unprofessional and left trash and blunt tips in the yard. One guy complained about the work nonstop. Took eight hours to do probably four hours of work. Came unprepared without tools or water. The crappy thing is military members who end up with this company assigned as transfer agents don't know until after it's too late. Including our bed, our tv and two antiques that I asked to please be packed carefully These items are one of a kind and irreplaceable. I am so upset. Additionally multiple pieces of our art are damaged and the list goes on. The packers were disrespectful and one of them started throwing things off the truck toward us. Firstly the movers they sent were older and seemed disinterested in actually doing their job. The packing was completely disorganised. They left behind so much stuff. I understand certain things can't be packed such as fragrance or cleaning solutions etc but random things were left behind like a piece of my rice cooker. Ridiculous ! Furthermore they packed my key fob when I explicitly set it to the Side along with my keys. I noticed it was no longer on the counter and I asked if they packed. They swore up and down they didn't. I asked them to look through the box they were currently packing and of course they didn't. I had to pay like 50 bucks to replace my key fob. Low and behold a few months later when I received my house hold goods the first box I unpacked contained the very key fob in the very box I asked them to check for. If I could give them zero stars I would! As a military family who moves a lot we have experience with moving companies. Gollot and Sons was by far the worst moving company we have ever dealt with. They were disrespectful, unprofessional, and unresponsive. They broke several pieces of furniture, dented a door knob, and loaded the truck in the rain causing mold growth on several boxes Causing us to have to throw of several items. When they were finished loading the truck they refused to nail our crates shut or even inform my husband of how many crates we had. My husband and myself were left to wonder if all our things would arrive at our next duty station. Military moves are stressful enough without shitty moving companies like Gollot and Sons. Never in a million years would I recommend this company to anyon! read more

Like one of the other reviewers mentioned the movers are overworked and the jobs are worked undermanned. I'm not sure if the business was basing the number of movers required on the size of the house, but I went from a 1800 sq ft to a 1200 sq ft house and had about 6800 pounds of household goods being moved in. They sent two people with a third arriving halfway through the job. All three of the movers were very nice, cool people, but they didn't finish unloading until about 6pm. It also seemed they were either never told that I had elected the option of having the boxes unpacked or pretended not to know. I ended up having to waive the unpacking off the documentation for my move because it probably would have taken them until 10pm. One other thing I had issue with is that one person was placing boxes and furniture outside for the other to move inside. This tracked a lot of dirt and debris into the house. read more

I would rate less but clearly you can't. This is by far the WORST moving company I've ever experienced. The women that came to pack our house (1 lady was really nice) were completely rude. I'm guessing she was the head lady in charge, she huffed and puffed like she was too bothered to do her job. They packed up a bunch of my work stuff then when I asked where it was, had the nerve to be rude with me and bothered I asked they pull it back out ,ONLY to see a pair of my expensive hair sheers had been damaged. More than half of our furniture is busted and broken. My daughter's swing and a few other furniture items looked like they had been in a fire or something with all kinds of black mess on them.They literally just put whatever in boxes, made no care with half of it. The boxes are completely mislabeled, our plastic containers are all busted and unable to be used. All of the parts for beds and furniture where put in bags NONE of which were labeled. Lamp shades are all damaged. We just had our stuff delivered yesterday and it's an absolute NIGHTMARE!! Never again. read more

I had two important items from my military move stolen from me. I know they were stolen from me because they were listed on ebay by a pawn shop. I have the links if you would like them. It was for a dropcam and Ray Ban Wayfarer's. I know the majority of your business is military moves especally in the summer. I am excited to report this to the JPPSO and DPS. The movers were fine, but they seem to be overworked big time. We were initially set up with 3 movers to move our stuff in for our military move. One worker left and a replacement wasn't sent out to help. This means it took the movers about 12 hours to move about 9000 pounds of stuff in which I could see why with two people. Needless to say they were tired and ready to go but they kept on going and with positive spirits. This is the first move that has taken so long and I'm disappointed that the manager or the staff of the company didn't call us to ask how the move in was going. I was satisfied with the service until I saw my white bath towel in a heap on the floor under the washer hose hookups. The movers had went into the room of things not to pack without our knowledge and grabbed one of our towels to clean up the water, and left it on the floor. Kudos to you for cleaning up after yourselves but now my white towel is ruined and I have no washer to wash it in. read more

Not only did we get some items damaged, but we are still missing items! We are missing half our our sectional couch, part of our kids beds, dressers, patio furniture, and so on. If I could have selected zero stars I would have. We had our Military household good delivered by this company and the experience has been the worst in our 20 year career (nine other moves). The truck showed up on time with a driver and two other movers. The complaining began almost instantly. They gripped that we had a two story house and then started bashing their own warehouse folks for loading the truck improperly. The truck was loaded with our furniture in the back and all of the boxes up front. This meant that they loaded the house with boxes first and then covered all of the intended furniture locations. The did not protect our stairs and only put down a thin runner and a moving blanket in our hardwood foyer. None of these were secured for they bunched and moved throughout the offload. The movers pointed out that inside the truck there were boxes marked high value/fragile that were at the bottom of tall stacks with heavy book boxes and kitchen dish packs on top. They were laughing about how incompetent their warehouse crew was without every considering that they were in our presence laughing about how our good were damaged. Incredibly unprofessional. None of the workers appeared to have any professional training in how to move furniture or boxes. No rigging straps were used, Boxes were loaded on hand carts upside down and sideways. The boxes them selves were damaged and blown out on the bottoms from improper handling and from being dropped. Our dining room table top (heavy wood) was intentionally dropped by the lifter on one side rather then lowering it carefully. The worker saw me when he dropped it and said that he thought the moving blanket on the floor would pad the fall..... it was on a tile kitchen floor on a slab foundation. That 1/32" cloth did no good and now my nearly new table has a crush/compression on one corner that was not there before. My wife and I spend 3-4 hours photo documenting box after box and piece after piece that came off the truck damaged or that was damaged as it was being loaded into the house. This whole evolution was a complete circus with the most apathetic crew I have ever seen. We've never felt the need to file a claim before and have usually just put up with minor rubs and scratches. This time we will be filing a detailed and lengthy claim. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY and choose to prohibit the use of this company when you plan your next Military move or other local move. read more
