Great business!! Updated review to 5 stars! Original: I took my bike here for a tune-up. The price was a bit steep, but I figured my bike deserved some proper care from professionals, so I went for it. When I picked it up, I gave it a quick ride around the parking lot and everything seemed fine. I brought it home, stored it in the garage, and didn't ride it again. A few weeks later, on a Sunday, I was ready to go for a bike ride when I discovered that one of the tires was completely flat. I tried filling it with air, but it wouldn't stay inflated. Since Allspeed is closed on Sundays, I put the bike in the car and drove to the Eastern Promenade. The nice people at Summer Feet Cycling took a look at it and were quite surprised to find that the tube was completely unusable. They were even more surprised when I told them the bike had recently been "tuned" at Allspeed. Considering that I hadn't ridden the bike at all since the tune-up, this was a pretty disappointing experience, especially given the price of the service. And when I actually needed the bike fixed, I couldn't bring it back to Allspeed because they're closed on Sundays. Take this experience as you will. I'm just sharing mine.

After reading reviews for local bike stores, I opted to visit Allspeed first. I went in just to check out what they had in stock, and little did I know they would help me find the most perfect bike at their shop. As soon as I walked in, I was met by the kindest staff. They asked me about my cycling goals, experience, budget, etc. They showed me a few bikes that met my needs and allowed me to test them out for a bit on the Bayside Trail, which is adjacent to their store. For me, it was love at first sight. I truly fell in love with one of their Fuji bikes I tested, and the rest is just history. I bought it on the spot and they even held it for me for a few days since I didn't have my bike rack with me that day. The whole experience was phenomenal - as a newbie to cycling, I was initially a bit intimidated about the whole purchasing-a-bike experience, but Allspeed made the process beyond amazing. A few days later, on my second ride, I got a flat tire. I took the bike back to Allspeed and within minutes they fixed it. They also noted that the tire was low in pressure, and acknowledged they should've double checked the pressure before selling me the bike. Because of that, they didn't charge me for the flat. I was blown away by their honesty and care.

I did come with my cousin, who owns a few guns. So as far as renting guns from Howell's, I don't know. I do know you can. But cost, and paperwork, I don't know. Now, for my experience. First we gave our drivers license, and we had to sign a document which we scanned the QR code and initialed the appropriate areas. Then we watched a short video on gun safety. You do need to wear protective eye wear and earplugs and ear head ware too. My little ear plugs kept falling out. I have small ears. So I wore the head ear ware. We were given a lanyard that said range 2 lane 7. We went in our room and found our lane. We were the only ones there. We did rent the lane for 1 hour. You can choose whatever time you need. Between me and my cousin, an hour was plenty of time. A little about me. I'm scared of guns. I don't have arm muscles. I'm like nervous about the kick back, I mean, all the things. I did once shoot a riffle with L.L. Bean years ago. So I know a little, but not enough, and still scared. This isn't pop pop like you see on tv, this is a full blown bang bang. Bob! Oh my word. That man, you know he's passionate. He had so much patience with me, and gave such great instructions. No complicated words and gun lingo. He was just an outstanding human being. He watched me so carefully, he gave instructions on how to hold the gun. My thumbs needed to be like stacked side by side. And he would watch me shoot, then he said, okay, looks like your grip is good, but try twisting your left wrist upward a little, and I would do it, and sure enough, I shot better. I was getting a lot of kick back and my little girly arm muscles just started to fatigue, so he said, try leaning in a little with your whole upper body. I mean, everything he said just made me better and better. He was so kind in his directions, I felt so comfortable and more relaxed as I was learning and learning more. And as I changed my grip, or my stance, and making sure I lined up the 3 dots, and keep everything level, and breathe, and squeeze the trigger. I was getting better with practice and not feeling so nervous. And really, Bob just made me feel more relaxed. I had my cousin to guide me as well, and Bob, so I felt like I had a great support team during my hour. My cousin, dang, he was good. But he's been shooting guns his whole life. Highly, really, highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to try it out. Practice, but most of all learn and respect guns. Price wise. 2 people, an hour, box of bullets and 2 targets, and 2 earplugs. Like $80.00 we had our own guns, but you can rent theirs. I basically got a personal instructor, and that's priceless. Thank you all for giving me a whole new respect and education for guns. I appreciate you ALL!

I had initially just planned on getting my skis tuned up and waxed but after seeing deals that couldn't be beat and the phenomenal customer service at Arlberg I ended up getting a new set of skis and my girlfriend bought a whole new setup of skis, boots, poles, etc. WORD OF ADVICE: If you want to get a GREAT deal on ski or snowboard gear go to Arlberg late in the season (Think late March or early April). That is the time of year where shops are trying to get rid of the current year's stuff and you can get CRAZY deals off (30%-%50 off) as the store is trying to clear out their stock to prep for summer sports and next winter. That being said I walked into the store and met the manager, Jim, almost immediately. Jim is an old school ski bum and extremely friendly and informative. When I saw the deals they had he was happy to help me pick the right ski for me. He went over my skill level, style, type of terrain I ski, right down to my favorite trails I ski locally (mine is Lollapalooza at Sunday River) all to help me pick the right ski for me. He was even honest enough to keep me away from a more expensive ski I was looking at that he said wasn't worth it. Keep in mind I generally buy almost everything online. Seriously I'm that guy in stores breaking out my cell phone and searching for stuff I find in person to see if I can save some money and get it online. Jim sensed that in me as I was walking around the store with my phone in hand and told me that he would be happy to match any price I find online. That's right Arlberg price matches! Arlberg also makes sure that you like what you buy and that it fits right. Jim spent an hour with my girlfriend and I testing out fits and making sure we were happy with our new gear. The prices of an online store with the service of a small mom and pop local business: Sign me up! For most things I say check out an online store to save some cash. When it comes to skis and snow sports gear I won't go anywhere else but Arlberg and I can't recommend them enough.

We asked our friends and coworkers for recommendations on where to buy a couch locally. Many of…read morethem suggested Macy's. Which, to be honest, I had never considered. It's really not an option that comes up when you Google "furniture stores"; and, well, the Yelp reviews aren't the best (... then again, a lot of the negative ones are written by people with no photo, so are they really that trustworthy?). We looked online at their couches. There were some seemingly really good options! And then we just sort of put the idea on the back burner until my partner threatened to burn our terrible, horrible, no good, very bad (and very broken) couch (... to be fair, I had also threatened to do the same thing, but he's much more calm and composed than I am, so when he said it I knew it was Go Time). We pulled the website back up, found a few couches that made the most sense size-wise for our small, strangely shaped apartment, then took a drive over to The Maine Mall. Not a single sales person talked to us; it was lovely. We found a couch we liked, and an older man by the name of Kevin sauntered over. It didn't seem like he had any expectations or agendas. We immediately liked Kevin. The Radley was our vibe (and our price range, and would fit our oddly shaped apartment), and Kevin let us reconfigure the floor model, sit on it, lounge on it, bicker about it, move it around some more, until we found a configuration we wanted. Kevin then very patiently answered our never-ending list of questions regarding their WORRYNOMORE warranty. Our couch is FANTASTIC (it's maybe not the perfect color, but we didn't feel like waiting three months for the color of our choice). It's probably one of the best pieces of furniture we've ever spent any money on: unbelievably comfortable and so well made. Also, it's cool that if we move into a bigger place we can buy additional pieces to make The Radley longer! My only piece of advice? WAIT UNTIL THERE'S A SALE. Which there often is (Christmas sale, Valentine's Day sale, Memorial Day sale... just wait until any major US holiday); you can save more than a thousand dollars in some instances! Granted having it delivered to your house costs a couple hundred (even more if you want it delivered to the room of your choice and just dropped through your front door, and EVEN MORE if you want it set up); the warranty also costs a couple hundred... it starts to add up.
