It's a small and manageable station. The best part is that it's at the northern terminus of the Pacific Surfliner line; usually you won't experience a delay if you're going southbound. However the station is very difficult to get to without a car. The Nearest line 6 Santa Barbara transit stop is a quarter mile away on Hollister (and the bus comes about every 30 minutes during the daytime). At night, transit and Lyft are practically non existent from this station, so plan accordingly or get off at Santa Barbara instead and get a taxi from there.

I happen to think the Clean Air Express is worth 5 YELP STARS? Why?…read moreBecause this bus line now goes to WINE COUNTRY! No trip to Santa Barbara is complete without a tour to sample the grapes in the Santa Ynez Valley. Clean Air Express bus service connecting Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara for the first time cut the ribbon on July 11, 2015 and then departed at 9:30 a.m. from Buelton. Right now the Vino Express just goes out on Saturdays. The regular fare is $7.00 per person each way (buy at boarding) or a booklet of 10 passes is $50 in advance. Children age two years & under ride free. This is a 5 YELP STAR EVENT because before, you had to drive out to the Santa Ynez Valley and have a designated driver when you visited the wineries and sampled the fare. Now that the bus is here, you can hop on board and enjoy yourself without worry. For the first time, this new Clean Air Express Saturday public bus service allows anyone in Santa Barbara to travel to Buellton, Solvang and Los Olivos for the day--and anyone in Buellton and Solvang to travel to Santa Barbara for the day. The bus is plush too. The new Clean Air Express Saturday service features charter-style buses with free Wi-Fi, reclining seats and internal bays for transporting bicycles. That is cool because you can board your own bike for a ride to take a tour of wine country. What a great opportunity this affords day-trippers in the area to explore this beautiful and scenic region. Napa Valley has the Wine Train and now Santa Barbara has the Saturday Clean Air Express!

If I were to be commuting (like a fool) it would be costing me around $50 A DAY!! to get to work and back. That includes gas and regular wear and tear on my vehicle. The CAE is always on time, comfortable and gives me extra time to catch some ZZZZZ's or check my emails, OR play a round or two of Battle Royal. For $7 bucks cash one way..... yeah it's worth it

Santa Barbara was a bucket list stop for my girlfriend, and we booked the 2:00 p.m. trolley tour…read morehoping for a well guided introduction to the city's history and landmarks. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the more disappointing parts of the trip. The seating is tightly packed. I understand maximizing capacity, but at 6'6" it was not comfortable. We moved to the front right side where there is a sideways bench behind the driver, which offered more legroom. That felt like a smart move until we realized most of the sights being pointed out were on the left side of the trolley. It felt like about 80 percent of the tour was oriented that direction, which meant we were constantly twisting around and still missing details. If you book this tour, sit on the left side. The narration also felt disorganized. The driver mentioned he was reading the traffic flow incorrectly and ended up doing much of the route "backwards." Because of that, he would introduce a historical figure or landmark, then later circle back and partially repeat the same information when reaching his usual talking point. There was noticeable repetition and filler instead of a smooth, cohesive storyline. Midway through the tour, there is a stop at Mission Santa Barbara for about 15 minutes. While it is nice to get off and stretch your legs, 15 minutes is nowhere near enough time to meaningfully experience the mission. You can walk through the courtyard and take a few photos, but that is about it. The mission deserves more time than a quick pass through. In practice, the stop felt more like a checkbox than a real opportunity to explore. Another frustration was departure time. The 2:00 p.m. tour did not leave at 2:00. The driver waited past the scheduled time to see if additional passengers would join. When you are visiting from out of town and carefully stacking your schedule, those extra 10 to 15 minutes matter. Overall, for about $30 per person, I expected a more polished and better organized experience. We both left disappointed. If you want a meaningful introduction to Santa Barbara, you may be better off exploring key spots on your own at your own pace.
