This is a fairly modest little market located close to Prague's old town square (roughly a 3-5 min…read morewalk just a couple of blocks away). I actually just happened to stumble upon this place after wandering around the area. The market is full of trinkets and items that's very tourist-centric. Many of the proprietors sell cheap shit like magnets, cups, post cards etc. Some of the shops carry produce or simple fruits and vegetables. A few others feature local artisans who sell handmade jewelry and paintings. Even though generally this place feels touristy, some of the stuff did feel very local and cool. I ended up buying a few small paintings because of the nice drawings of St. Charles bridge and other local attractions. Personally I think this isn't a place that you make a point of visiting unless you had some extra free time and wanted to check out some reasonably priced items to take back home with you (if you're a tourist). However, if you do stop by, I wouldn't be surprised if you do happen upon this place that you'll still take a few minutes to check out what they have. Some merchants here are more pushy than others but generally they are all ok. Some of them are also flexible about bargaining.

Well, you can if you have no heart nor love for ginger. I just happen to have love for ginger. It's not really a museum but a very cute store selling 90% of gingerbread, decorated in creative ways. It's difficult for you to step out without wanting to buy a little bit of everything. It's a small store but I must have spent 20 minutes in there looking at everything and deciding what to get. Finally decided and bought a couple gingerbread cookies and a gingerbread ornament - like to replace that missing bow in your hair, perhaps ? I've gotta say I'm grossly disappointed. The cookies must have been older than that condom in your wallet! They were so stale and tasteless .. and just terrible. The one in the shape of an ornament was super dry and hard, not the crispy type of hard but the break-your-teeth hard. What a shame. I can only image that they mass produce these cookies and just let them sit there for weeks, if not months, until some sucker tourist who don't know better, come in and buy them. I'm just glad I didn't soften up, go all out and bought the gingerbread mansion!

My mom and I ordered bottled sparkling water and were surprised when it was served warm (not just room temperature but actually warm). When we asked if we could get cold water instead, we were told that they didn't have any cold water available due to the heat. This wasn't mentioned when we ordered. We were offered a small cup of ice, but there wasn't nearly enough to cool the whole bottle. The waiter didn't apologize and came across as quite rude and annoyed with us. She also never offered more ice, even though it was clear the amount we got wasn't enough. I understand that things happen, but a simple apology and a better attitude would have gone a long way. It's a shame because the food was good, but the service made the visit much less enjoyable.
