    So good!

When in Prague, be sure not to pass on Trdelník! These amazing chimney cake pastries are sold all over the city by street vendors so you're bound to see one just walking around. They're only 60 korunas (or under $3) so no excuses. You can also choose to customize with fillings and ice cream for a little more but trust the original is still bomb! These soft, flaky Doughnut-like sweet treats are what's been missing in your life. I love watching them get made; getting wrapped on the long cylinders as they cook over an open flame until they are perfectly brown, mmm. Then they're rolled in cinnamon and sugars and can get filled with what you want? Damn son, let me wipe my drool real quick before I pay.

    Chimney Cake with Caramel

More messy than good We joined the hoard of tourists crossing the Charles Bridge, where we passed a place that sold chimney cakes. They looked really good and we made a mental note to stop by when we were walking back. Later as we headed back we spotted this place, which was close to the one we saw earlier, and stopped in. They offered several flavors and even one with ice cream. I had tried my first chimney cake a few days ago in Budapest and really liked it, it had cinnamon and it was included in the sugar coating. What I got today was different, my chimney cake got a white sugar coating and inside it was smeared with caramel, my flavor choice. It didn't take long for the caramel to start making its way out the ends of the tube. There was no seating where we bought them so we ducked down a side street to tackle our treat. I seriously took on the challenge of keeping the caramel in check while I ate the loops of pastry. It was probably good but I was too busy trying not to make a mess, and mostly failed. My wife didn't realize what was happening with her white chocolate so when she moved a napkin she had as an unsuspecting stopper, well, she was less pleased. We just lacked the experience of eating it, so while we didn't have a 4 star experience, I'll take part of the responsibility for the resulting stickiness. It was very interesting watching how chimney cakes are made, and that in itself was worth stopping by. I see there are a few Trdelnik places listed on Yelp and none seem to match the one I visited. This one was just a short distance from the west end of Charles Bridge.

If you're reading this either you were scammed or you're lucky and haven't bought anything yet so be careful. The pastries here are fine; that isn't my real problem. They only take cash here and I only had dollars as I hadn't exchanged currency yet but they took it. However, then they proceeded to over charge me by twice the cost. When I added it up (they obviously thought I wouldn't) and told the woman at the front that she overcharged me, she got angry at me and lied about the exchange rate as if I were the one in the wrong. The customer service is so awful, and they scam Americans, so no average pastry is worth being conned in my opinion :)

I tried the famous chimney cake with chocolate gelato and it was soo good. Not even lying when I…read moresay that I was able to eat the entire thing in few mins, devoured it till the last bite. Good food has a lot of options, including vegan and gluten free for chimney cakes. The service was pretty quick and attentive. Definitely stop-by this place if you're in Prague and would like to try some local delicacies.

Yelp Review 2023 #89:…read more Chimney cake in English, Trdelnik in Czech, kurtoskalacs in Magyar...they're the delicious pastry cooked on spits and sprinkled with sugar and walnuts. I've had Good Food bookmarked for years and I finally got the chance to go over the holidays. I had two chances of going to Good Food at 2 different countries: Czech Republic, and UAE but the one in Dubai Mall closed in 2022. I've had chimney cakes in the US and Canada but it's quite different because they use modern equipment instead of grilling them using charcoal. If you want traditional chimney cakes, you really have to go to the source: Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. You'll see them at Christmas markets in Vienna too but that's not where they are from. My hotel was within a 10-minute walk from Good Food which located in a tourist area. So, it does get super crowded here. They have a few tables and chairs and it's quite hard to eat a chimney cake while walking through crowds. The chances of you getting bumped and dropping your chimney cake is very high. You can get just a chimney cake (pistachio, original, chocolate, gluten-free original), gelato or sorbet (chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, strudel, salted caramel, charcoal, piña colada, mango, raspberry) or chimney cake with gelato/ sorbet in different combinations. I wanted to get a savory chimney cake and a sweet chimney cake and I told myself I wasn't going to get the double chocolate chimney cake. As soon as I got to placing my order, I felt my mouth moving and I apparently said "double chocolate" and by the time I realized I wanted pistachio, it was too late! I felt pressured because of the line behind me. I paid and got my trdelnik within minutes. I was lucky to get a table but you have to squeeze in because the tables are smooshed together - if you have thick winter coat, you'll definitely brush against the table next to you. Double Chocolate Trdelnik: Chocolate chimney cake, chocolate gelato, brownies, and fresh strawberry topping. The chimney cake itself was delicious. The chocolate gelato was rich and leaned towards dark chocolate which was nice so it wasn't sweet on sweet. I would've been ok without the brownies. The strawberries were nice to give your taste buds a break from chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. Like I've mentioned, this was against my plan but I still liked it. 4/5 When I went, they were only taking credit cards. When I come back, I should get pistachio!!!
