    Waterfall

Excellent park featuring easy walk through a tunnel to a peaceful waterfall and hike 30 minutes to nearby trestle, if you'd like! Waterfall is high and narrow (depending on season), with a clear view to the top of the waterfall from its base, which is an accessible wading area. The waterfall is a quick 10 minute walk from the parking area, walking through the tunnel to get to the side of the waterfall and then onto a dry riverbed to access the waterfall. Very fun visitor center with highly interactive exhibits and games for children - could easily spend 30 minutes learning about local wildlife through the exhibits as well as video. Plenty of well-done horticulture as well as various pelts, bones, claws for kids to learn through playing. Spacious parking and picnic areas with grills, as well as covered picnic area with ramada.

This was a last minute hike/trail that we decided to do and I'm glad we did! Goldstream is known for their Niagara Falls waterfall-- not THE Niagara Falls with the same name. This one is apparently the same height as stated on another site but I don't think so... Getting to the waterfall is a bit confusing since there are a couple different parking spots and it's along a busy highway. Don't park in a lot and walk across the highway, it's super busy. There is a parking lot that is a 5 minute walk to the fall. The greenery is pretty and the forest creates a nice shade. The park is also known for trestle bridge. It's technically on private property, but there is a perfect pathway up to it. It can get a little steep at times but it's well maintained trail with steps. This trestle bridge is about another 20-30 minutes from the waterfall. It wasn't difficult but can be steep! The trestle bridge is pretty amazing. It's not in used currently so a train is not going to come but please look it up when you go. The trestle can be dangerous since there is no railing and the wood might not be super well maintained.

We were on Victoria for an extended celebration for our youngest who is fascinated with waterfalls. We stopped by little Niagara and were in awe of its height and how close we were able to get to the waterfall. The trail was cleanly marked and safe. Looking forward to making this a regular stop when we visit the island.

Spent almost 4 hours here with my partner and our dog. Had a great time romping around in the snow. The bridge was supposed to be closed but the gate was open for us so we could walk on it. Be careful walking on the bridge as it can be dangerous!

What a lovely park. Parking was a bit difficult as we came on a holiday weekend and the parking lit was full. We ended up parking along the highway. The trails are marked and it's an easy trail for all ages. I did see a few parents with strollers and a a couple people in wheelchairs. There are covered picnic areas with fire pits. There are washrooms in a couple areas. We actually saw the salmon swimming upstream! It was mesmerizing. We just stood along the riverbank and watched the nature show happen right before our eyes. Salmon after salmon swam past us. It was amazing to see the salmon run. We went off the trail through a tunnel under the highway to see the falls. It was very pretty. The trail is rough and uneven in this part After the falls we walked back to the trail. We came to a information center/store. This is an excellent outing for kids. Lots of hands on activities. There was also a movie playing. A small donation is suggested when you enter. You can also grab a snack or drink here. We can't wait to return next year when we visit.

There are beautiful ponds and fountains here in amongst lush trees. There are paths that lead you into all sorts of park adventures! On the first excursion we saw a juvenile owl in a tree and got some pictures of it as well as well as the Moss Lady statue as extra bonuses. On the second excursion we went to a wonderful rose garden, the Children's Farm which consists of various animals which are primarily barnyard types. We then went to the south end of the park and went to Mile Zero for the Trans Canadian Highway and a gorgeous view of the water from the Straight of Juan De Fuca. And we saw more juvenile owls out and about in the trees. Definitely a park to go to and it's the kind of place that will bring in tourist sightseers but will have locals or residents as well because it's clear it's a park that is loved by all.

(Saturday 12/20/2025) I'll start off by saying that the gardens were offered as an add-on to our trip to Victoria on the Clipper. Transport to and from the gardens was also included in the package. There were two time slots available, one during the day and one in the evening. The bus ride took about an hour each way, and the bus driver was a delight. He was knowledgeable in the history of the area and kept us entertained with tidbits about its rich past. We went to see the Capilano Bridge Holiday Lights when we visited Vancouver a couple of years ago, and were excited to see the gardens for that reason. Unfortunately, we weren't met with the same experience. I understand that they are different places, but I wasn't expecting so many dark, empty spots. Sure, there were a lot of lights to see, but there were long stretches of walking areas that were just meh, or not lit at all. Certain areas of the park were closed, but I guess that didn't matter since pretty much everything in winter has died back. Again, I feel like Capilano Bridge had WAY more to do and see for both children and adults. My husband and I FELT like children climbing up and down, and on the sides, of the tree and cliff catwalks, and feeling the wonder and amazement of all of the light sets and lighted surroundings. Butchart Gardens didn't wow us like that one bit. We apologized to our children even though they didn't experience the bridge with us. However, they still enjoyed getting away from life. I would love to visit the gardens during the day in the spring or summer, but reading some of the reviews has me thinking we probably won't. If/when we travel to Victoria again, we'll probably pass on the gardens.

Firstly, several of these reviews are for the wrong hot springs. If a review mentions a restaurant,…read moreor a resort, or a time slot, they are referring to the SOL DUC hot springs, not these ones. Also, the reviews that mention that the hike is easy are all outdated! It's a slog to get there! The Olympic hot springs are a 12 mile hike mostly uphill. It used to be a much shorter hike but about five years ago the road washed out and you now have to hike an extra 8 miles... 12 miles total... one way. It's a slog! The springs themselves, while pretty, are shallow, muddy, slimy, and overall pretty gross. The signs warn of fecal bacteria. If you're hoping to hike 12 miles to soak in pristine pools, think again. Nudity is common. If anyone is actually using the hot springs, they will likely be nude. Get over it!! Let the nudists have their place... and 12 miles deep in the woods is a nice place to be nude. You might also see nudists hiking or biking on the trail to the hot springs. It's not common but does happen occasionally. Just smile and say hi! The hike starts off easy on a paved road for about 3/4 of a mile. Then you have to use a single-track dirt bypass trail that is steep and rooty. If you're using a bike you'll be pushing and carrying it over things. Then you're put back on an old paved road again. It's another 2 miles to the Glines Canyon overlook which is fun to see. Then it's another 5 miles on the same road, but now 100% uphill and sometimes steep, just to reach the trailhead. Once at the trailhead, you're already over 8 miles into it and you have another 2.5 or so to hike... bikes not allowed. You have to park at the Madison Falls parking lot. You're supposed to have a National Park pass.

We were surprised that there was no entry fee for such a beautiful park. So much greenery, this park encompasses a large lake and has a trail that loops around it (rather a very long trail). The lake can be used for those interested in swimming, rowing, paddle boarding, fishing and canoeing. The trails that surround the lake are open to hikers, dogs (off leash is allowed), cyclists and horse back riders. Just be aware that since these trails are shared with horses, be very careful where you walk because riders do not typically pick up after their animals (although there are a few signs around that remind pet owners to pick after their dogs). The trail we were on was mostly shaded and had some great look out points with beautiful backdrops of the lake and Mother Nature at her finest. You can easily spend an entire day here. There are a few restrooms available at this regional park. Plentiful parking and friendly locals walling the trails. Definitely a must to visit if you are in the area, especially if you are with your little one(s) (4 legged or human, there is a playground here for the human kind and a few picnic tables).

The park is named for its historic lime kiln used by settlers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. A five to ten minute downhill walk from the parking lot reveals remarkable views of the Olympic Mountains and an expansive view of sparkling water stretching far into the distance. It's said this site is one of the best whale watching locations in the islands, where visitors will most likely be able to see orcas! We weren't fortunate enough to find any during our visit, but the scenery was rewarding enough. The trail continues along the rocky shoreline, passing several pristine coves and thickets of madrones with twisted, curling red bark. The trail soon reveals a beautiful lighthouse on a rocky bluff, and the lime kilns in the distance. There is a well-curated gift shop back at the parking lot, as well as picnic tables, information kiosks, and public restrooms.
