    Giant watering can
    Alex M.

Wow! This park has it all. Firstly, it's incredibly lovely. The landscaping is gorgeous. Beautiful paths everywhere and tons of water features. I especially love the giant watering can! And I also love the turtles and the children's animal park - they have goats, pigs, chickens, lamas, and many other animals. Also the peacocks in the park are there (and everywhere else). There's a great playground (maybe more than one) - but we saw the one near the restrooms. Good parking here too.

This Park is huge! Very quiet and peaceful. The gardens and ponds are beautiful. We weren't going to make a stop here but I'm glad we did.

Cricket grounds. Pickle ball courts. Lawns. Flowers. Old trees. Big rocks. Very lovely and refreshing space to enjoy nature. Free parking.

This 20-30 minute walk from the cruise port exceeded my vision of a free family friendly activity day. The hill is loaded with things to do. We chose to spend a good 2 hours visiting the farm animals from behind its gates, having fun in the playground, waddling after Canadian geese, and admiring the tall trees and beautifully planted foliage. Its like Buschart garden but free with more things to see and do ( great for those with low attention span.) And yes, the public bathroom here is free and clean.

Beacon Hill Park...an expansive large, lovely and charming public park at the south end of Victoria. Its not as dynamic nor as abundant in variety as the much more famous Butchart Gardens, but keep in mind this place is FREE! Perfect for the vanlifers and hostel backpackers whom can't yet afford Butchart Gardens, but have many more instagram followers than I do. The Moss Lady sculpture is enchanting and creepy and the same time. The world's tallest freestanding totem pole was also way more impressive in person than I had imagined. The peacocks and black squirrels were adorable! I wouldn't say this is a must visit in Victoria, but worth an hour if you can spare it.

Nice large green space in the middle of downtown Victoria to get away from all the hustle and bustle and enjoy some nice tranquil time. The park is very scenic, well maintained with nice gardens, a big pond in the middle of the park and walking paths throughout. This is a great place to go to relax and/or getting your daily steps in if you are into that thing.

Excellent park; extensive paths for walking around. Very pretty landscaping. Abundance of water fowl and turtles. Nice views of the straits from elevated locations.

Now this is the place you should visit when trying to explore beautiful British Columbia. A park with many hills, places to sit, and ponds, reminds you of your happiest memories growing up being surrounded by family, friends, and just simpler times. The families that are at the park are either enjoying a nice stroll (even in the winter), or feeding ducks with their little beloveds. Ponds and walk ways are pretty well kept and there are a lot of scenic options to stop by the park and admire nature. Ranging from large trees, to flowers, there were so many beautiful reminders that spring was on its way in an otherwise freezing environment. I was able to really soak in the beauty of the park when perched on top of a boulder and saw all the smiling faces soaking up the breaks of sun from the sky.

Beautiful relaxing place. Such a getaway from traffic and life in downtown. Walking distance from the fairmont empress around 15 minutes. We were lucky to see Jewish celebration of upcoming Rosh Hashanah. Beautiful fountains, a lot of greens, a lot of place to sit and relax.

Stone bridge. One of the fave spots we came across at the park

So far my most absolutely favorite place in Victoria. It's not a far walk from the harbour and when the ferry dropped us off, we ate a quick lunch and headed here. If you're looking for serene, beauty, and a nice stroll in different directions, this is the place for you. Tons of pond locations and bench seating for you to take breaks (and photos!). Other animals you can see here are squirrels, peacocks, ducks and turtles (note: I didn't see turtles, but I overheard someone say so while they walked past me). The flowers and the grounds in general are absolutely gorgeous! I was amazed by the lily ponds..I've never seen anything like that. We also saw carriage rides going around the park. Besides the nice walks, there is a children's farm/petting zoo where I hear the little goats are the highlight. We didn't go, as we now have a tween and that's not his thing. But you can see school buses (maybe field trips?) and lots of groups of kids with a chaperone going to it. I love this place. If I'm ever back here, I'd come back and picnic for lunch. Bring comfortable shoes and enjoy the views.

Beacon Hill Park was a park that I really wanted to go when visiting Victoria and it's much better than I thought! It's a giant park with lots of walking trails and different types of fields. There are beautiful grass and floral gardens, there are peacocks around these areas too!! You can find them pecking at the flowers. There are nice shaded areas in the grass areas to rest and sit. There are multiple pretty ponds for ducks to swim in and for a nice view while sitting on a bench. There is also a beach area. It's a rocky beach and it's a little hard to walk on but it's beautiful when you climb in the rock structure and look at the view. There are meadows with tall grass. Be careful with where you walk since some areas are being cared for so followed the paths and trails when walking. In the park, there's also the worlds tallest free standing totem and it's giant! Definitely the tallest. And there's also a petting zoo!! There are pigs, alpacas, mini donkeys, chickens, ducks, and goats for petting! It's amazing! And it's also free to enter but they do ask for a donation.

We couldn't find anything there. There was a square that was made of wood . But it was a quite big park .we couldn't look around all the park but we saw a raccoon dog crossing the street .

Splendid beauty, from the manicured landscaping up top heading down the cliffs ending at the driftwood-covered beaches along the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Judging by the flora in huge Beacon Hill Park, it seemed to me that VIctoria is at least a little bit in the Olympic rain shadow. I later confirmed that it does rain less here in Victoria, 33" a year, compared to wetter Portland and Seattle - both cities racking up 37" a year. OK, since I am on the topic, Vancouver B.C. gets 44" annually. A great jogging or walking route is going around Ogden Point along the water and then up through Beacon Hill Park. For those of you with canine companions, there are no-leash paths in this park.

(Saturday 12/20/2025) I'll start off by saying that the gardens were offered as an add-on to our trip to Victoria on the Clipper. Transport to and from the gardens was also included in the package. There were two time slots available, one during the day and one in the evening. The bus ride took about an hour each way, and the bus driver was a delight. He was knowledgeable in the history of the area and kept us entertained with tidbits about its rich past. We went to see the Capilano Bridge Holiday Lights when we visited Vancouver a couple of years ago, and were excited to see the gardens for that reason. Unfortunately, we weren't met with the same experience. I understand that they are different places, but I wasn't expecting so many dark, empty spots. Sure, there were a lot of lights to see, but there were long stretches of walking areas that were just meh, or not lit at all. Certain areas of the park were closed, but I guess that didn't matter since pretty much everything in winter has died back. Again, I feel like Capilano Bridge had WAY more to do and see for both children and adults. My husband and I FELT like children climbing up and down, and on the sides, of the tree and cliff catwalks, and feeling the wonder and amazement of all of the light sets and lighted surroundings. Butchart Gardens didn't wow us like that one bit. We apologized to our children even though they didn't experience the bridge with us. However, they still enjoyed getting away from life. I would love to visit the gardens during the day in the spring or summer, but reading some of the reviews has me thinking we probably won't. If/when we travel to Victoria again, we'll probably pass on the gardens.

Firstly, several of these reviews are for the wrong hot springs. If a review mentions a restaurant,…read moreor a resort, or a time slot, they are referring to the SOL DUC hot springs, not these ones. Also, the reviews that mention that the hike is easy are all outdated! It's a slog to get there! The Olympic hot springs are a 12 mile hike mostly uphill. It used to be a much shorter hike but about five years ago the road washed out and you now have to hike an extra 8 miles... 12 miles total... one way. It's a slog! The springs themselves, while pretty, are shallow, muddy, slimy, and overall pretty gross. The signs warn of fecal bacteria. If you're hoping to hike 12 miles to soak in pristine pools, think again. Nudity is common. If anyone is actually using the hot springs, they will likely be nude. Get over it!! Let the nudists have their place... and 12 miles deep in the woods is a nice place to be nude. You might also see nudists hiking or biking on the trail to the hot springs. It's not common but does happen occasionally. Just smile and say hi! The hike starts off easy on a paved road for about 3/4 of a mile. Then you have to use a single-track dirt bypass trail that is steep and rooty. If you're using a bike you'll be pushing and carrying it over things. Then you're put back on an old paved road again. It's another 2 miles to the Glines Canyon overlook which is fun to see. Then it's another 5 miles on the same road, but now 100% uphill and sometimes steep, just to reach the trailhead. Once at the trailhead, you're already over 8 miles into it and you have another 2.5 or so to hike... bikes not allowed. You have to park at the Madison Falls parking lot. You're supposed to have a National Park pass.

We were surprised that there was no entry fee for such a beautiful park. So much greenery, this park encompasses a large lake and has a trail that loops around it (rather a very long trail). The lake can be used for those interested in swimming, rowing, paddle boarding, fishing and canoeing. The trails that surround the lake are open to hikers, dogs (off leash is allowed), cyclists and horse back riders. Just be aware that since these trails are shared with horses, be very careful where you walk because riders do not typically pick up after their animals (although there are a few signs around that remind pet owners to pick after their dogs). The trail we were on was mostly shaded and had some great look out points with beautiful backdrops of the lake and Mother Nature at her finest. You can easily spend an entire day here. There are a few restrooms available at this regional park. Plentiful parking and friendly locals walling the trails. Definitely a must to visit if you are in the area, especially if you are with your little one(s) (4 legged or human, there is a playground here for the human kind and a few picnic tables).
