I love this place. Their jewelry is gorgeous, for one. Even if you're not looking for anything specific, stop in and look at all the custom pieces on display, it's basically impossible not to be inspired. They have a shop cat! Copper is an old man, but he is the sweetest ginger kitty ever. He likes to knock over the trash can in the shop, it's his signature move. I took an earring that belonged to my grandmother to Goldsmith Silversmith, along with some other gold jewelry my parents had gifted me over the years. I wanted to have them all made into a ring, so I could consolidate all these meaningful pieces, and make something wearable out of a lone hoop earring, the mate of which had long been lost to the Finnish woods. Goldsmith Silversmith understood what I was going for, and did an amazing job creating my ring. They kept me posted every step of the way, and even offered to have me approve the wax cast for the inner ring that my gold would be melted into, even though it wouldn't be visible at all as it would be covered by the earring. The process didn't take long at all, considering all the steps involved. Start to finish only a month or so. Took my fathers world war 2 pilots ring in to have a dent (that had been there for decades) removed. Not only did they repair it like new, they polished it so it shone like new. I took my wife's ring here to be resized and have a prong fixed. I called multiple places about it getting it resized because it's made of Palladium. I guess not every jewelry shop knows how to work with this metal. This place did, they have you drop it off and get your size, then they text you with a pic of what you brought and the drop off receipt. I bought a special ring while traveling in Ireland a year and a half ago. I had gotten a ring a good couple of sizes too big (I had just come off of 10 days of Cruise Ship eating). I stopped in to Goldsmith Silversmith to see if the ring could be resized. I expected to leave my ring, and pay for the service, and pick it up in a couple of weeks. Instead, he offered an alternative. He said he had a device that would round the edges in, resulting in a tighter fit. He went in the back with my ring, and in 60 seconds (seriously, it was that fast), he returned and it was tighter! 4 more trips to the back, and my ring is now tight enough to not slip carelessly off of my finger. When I asked how much I owed, he waived his hand as signal that there was no charge. I tried to pay, and he insisted that there was no charge. He even offered to adjust further if after a few days I wanted it a little tighter. Looking around the shop, I saw a lot of very beautiful jewelry on display. I worked with Goldsmith Silversmith for almost 3 months to redesign a few pieces of heirloom jewelry into a new piece. I had an excellent experience and found the prices to be extremely reasonably given the level of handcrafting and work they did on my piece. I was fascinated by the talent of the folks we worked with - Lynn helped me select a design, including showing me a bunch of existing inventory and sketching out several options for me to help me "see" what could be possible. Eventually we settled on one. They made a wax carving of it so I could approve that and see what it would be like. I couldn't be more thrilled to see it in the flesh. I also appreciated that it came with an itemized appraisal, high quality photos, cleaning tools, and a silicone backup ring to wear when fine jewelry isn't appropriate (working out, etc.). The only reason this is not a five star review is that if you are on a time crunch, be mindful and pad in a ton of extra time. I was not up against a deadline but was given a few dates by the jeweler which I could expect to pick up the piece, all of which were missed, or they'd say they would call me when it was done by the end of the day and I'd have to call for a status update to find out that it was not complete. This was around the end of the year, so I know that's their busy time and that they are a small shop, but I would expect them to give realistic timeframes. If they'd told me from the start that it would take the time it did, I wouldn't have balked, but since they told me it'd be done by an earlier date I did feel a little disappointed. It is easy to feel a little frustrated and powerless when you need someone to do high quality work and feel like you're rushing them when you call to check up. And, they had all my gemstones and significant deposits, so I felt kind of stuck to just keep calling and checking. I want to reiterate that I'm thrilled with the quality of my piece - it's better than I ever imagined! And I will DEFINITELY be back to Goldsmith Silversmith. I'm just mindful that other folks shopping here might have really hard deadlines (proposals, marriages, etc.) that they are working toward and wanted to flag that you may need to put some extra work in to ensure that you get what you need when you need it. read more

This place is a GEM in every sense of the word! The gentlemen who owns the establishment, is an incredible host. He and his staff are extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. They have an arsenal of exotic jewelry; even some handcrafted jewelry that you can simply order, if they do not have your size on hand. The selection they have for such a small production, is unbelievable! Not only do they sell jewelry, but they repair, reset, and clean it. During my visit Dwaine offered to clean a couple of tarnished rings I came in wearing. I left with sparkling rings, that looked brand new! I cant even remember the last time they shined like that, they were almost unregonizable. When I was little, my late aunt had a garnet piece that needed some work, and I was with her when she dropped it off. I have been a customer at Goldsmith Silversmith for 20 years. Yikes! I must be old! I have purchased items that were in stock and made by Dwaine and many of his designers including, Heather, Danielle, Linda and a couple of others and have always been more than satisfied with my purchases. I often purchase gift for my nieces there as they love the "edgy" styles of some of Heather's and others' designs as well. The best part of my shopping experiences have been having custom made pieces done in the shop. Dwaine can literally, sketch out what is "in my head" as I describe it to him and make the most of my design so it is even better than I expected. The bench jeweler, Jim, is always polite and will fix anything that I've broken or has come unhinged and last year he made my anniversary ring that Dwaine and I designed and it is beautiful. No pressure tactics here, an in-house cat, and a lot of attention to detail. If you shop there, let them know your price point and they will work to get you what you want within it--if you have big dreams (don't we all?) then they'll help you achieve them. Good selection of merchandise from many designers and custom work that is second to none. I probably own more than 20 custom pieces in gold and at least that many in sterling silver that I often have given as gifts--in fact I'm having a set of earrings made for a new mom--earrings for the baby's birthstone for her--at this very time.
