As an avid gym goer for the last decade the state of this facility is disheartening... Cables snapped and left for months broken, cracked and flaking cushions scattered about, all of the equipment is loose and in need of maintenance. I'm no Jay Cutler but I've been to golds all across the US and this is by far the worst I've visited; in DESTIN of all places... The a/c is constantly going out, when it is running it's not proficient for the space ( 8+ years of HVAC... trust me). Whoever drew up the layout of this place is clearly an engineer and not an actual fitness enthusiast. It's a bit sad. Membership rates, and day pass rates are completely non reflective of the actual facility and its offerings. Only thing that saved them from a 1 star is they at least have nice squat racks, and a decent dumbbell selection. But be weary, you'll be lifting right on top of your neighbor! Bought a week pass for my vacation here in Destin. Very friendly staff and had everything I needed! It's an older gym and definitely on the smaller side, but it's nicely maintained and not too crowded- would recommend. The pass was $60 and the front desk allowed me to get a good look around before buying it for the week. read more

Visiting from out of town, I found that while small, this gym has most of the fundamental pieces of equipment I needed to get a proper workout in and dumbbells that go up to 130lbs. Staff was friendly and it wasn't overly crowded. I'll definitely come back. read more

Was given a 7 day pass for this gym. While registering there was NOTHING about you had to be a local resident to participate. I was thinking of getting a gold gym membership at home but absolutely not anymore. The manager who spoke to us was very rude with no real solution. You do not treat customers like that. read more

My son and I, as well as some of the other teenagers that I was on a 16 person spring break trip with, came here to work out during vacation. The first day we came, we were able to get one day guest passes for $10 each. The second day, different front desk guy, said that passes are actually $16. A week pass is $60. Had I known ahead of time, I would've bought the week pass the first day, as my son and I went all 6 mornings we were there. This is what you would expect from a typical Golds Gym. There is a lot of equipment. I went to do mainly cardio, so about 8 treadmills, 3 elliptical, some bikes, a couple of the escalator machines, and a rowing machine. The weight area has a mix of old mixed in with newer equipment. There is also a separate room that they utilize for classes. Clientele is mixed...some older ladies, some younger, lots of "dudes" walking around with cut off tanks and muscles on display with their gallon of water, as well as some older dudes that think they have to mansplane how to adjust the machines for me (this happened to me as I was adjusting a machine...guy just walked up and took over the knob and moved a bar setting bc I was "having trouble", when in reality I wasn't). The only thing I didn't enjoy was that when there was a class going on, I couldn't utilize the room to do my own core or stretching or strength training. There isn't any room for stretching in the main room, and I really don't like doing strength next to guys that are grunting (loudly). read more

I recently moved down to this area and finally found what I thought was going to be a decent gym, only to be accused few weeks later of video-taping an out of shape female with my cell phone. This person happens to be associated with this facility and not a good representation of how to conduct business in a professional manner. Management did review the video tapes and confirmed that I was wrongfully accused. Not sure why someone would approach me in this manner without factual proof, very disappointing. read more

We paid $20 a piece for a "day pass." The weight room is rather cramped. They have two stair machines and neither one was working. I finally tried the elliptical. It worked but the tv attached was only static. We probably won't be back. read more

Sad. Just moved here and was excited to join the classes. I arrived 15 mins prior walked in and saw a class still in process. I went to do cardio while I waited for the class to end and people to leave. No one ever left. I walked in at 9:10 and was told by a regular "I needed to get here early." Visiting from out of state for a few days so I needed a gym. Because this isn't my "home gym" I was not sure what to expect with the facility but knew I had to put some time in. Fortunately for myself, and every member currently attending, Tim did a spot on job of opening the club while maintaining the professionalism I expect and the cleanliness I desire. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by him and because of the fact that I came in without a water, he immediately asked me if I'd be needing one so he could point me in the right direction. I also saw a shirt my wife would like so he searched "high and low" to get the appropriate size for her. When I move here in the near future, I will be looking forward to making this the gym that I continuously return to and Tim's efficiency and amicability is what will be ensuring that. read more

When ever I'm in the Destin area im sure to train at Golds at least once. Its a fairly standard operation, clean, friendly, etc. The equipment is always functional. The dumbbells go up to 150#. I like it. read more

It's been a year since my last visit. Overall a good gym but I'm dropping a star for a few dings. First, the price went up to 32.20 for a couple per day. Up from 22.20. That's a steep price to use weights. Not sure I will be going back for that price. Will just go for a run down the road for free. Second, no chalk. Sorry but this is Golds, not one of those other places. You don't to lift hundreds of pound to use it. But it goes a long way in keeping the callouses on your palm instead of ripping off mid set. Third, all the bars are the same. They all have minimal gripping tread. No medium or aggressive tread. So had those callouses peel off mid set while deadlifting and nearly lost the bar. Other than those complaints plenty of new machines. read more

Decent gym. Cheaper than Grand Fitness but not as nice.

Needed to get my lift on during vacation and needed real weights. A week pass is about $37 bucks and they won't go for the free nationally promoted trial week pass unless you have a local id which is bullshit. Place has good equipment but things such as the rope attachment and other mostly cable things are showing their age. Many items including one of two mens locker room urinals are out of order and have been all week???? Makes me appreciate my back home gym a lot more. Staff is indifferent and barely makes any effort to greet you as you walk in. No towels, no locked lockers (you have to provide your own), and no military discount. The place is cramped and the locker room smells awful every single time I go in there. Dust and dirt in every crevice. It's the need to get a complete lift that makes me keep going back. The treadmills and elliptical are straight outta the 80's and nothing gets wiped down except with the cheapest Brown paper towel and what looks like windex that's located in one section of the over cramped space. Asked about bringing my 15 year old for a day and the price is the same as an adult $10 which would be fine if there was a gym and pool or something, or at least they had some modern equipment in a clean non cramped facility. Complete rip off when you consider a monthly plan is about $26 with no contract after a year. read more

I've been working out at the Destin golds gym for the last 16 years I've always worked out there and came down this year 2018 and the prices have gone through the roof asking for $16 per day for an individual they're asking $53 for a weeklong pass I cannot and will not and refuse to work out at this place ,?it's sad that apparently new ownership is taking over and eliminated virtually all visitors from visiting the local gym. I was very fortunate to find another gym that was reasonable $32 for the week 24 hour access just as good of a gym if not better very friendly people. I had been a member of Golds for 12 years prior and have always had a great experience with this gym. Apparently by the hike in prices the ownership does not want the visitors business. Now 24 hrs. Easy membership. Offer classes, but I don't take them. Offers spin. (I don't take that) I like bc it has a row machine, free spin bikes, recumbent bikes, lighter free weights and bars, trx and plenty of space for my own workout and stretching. Front desk folks are pleasant. Clean. Usually plenty of equipment and space free during late morning time frame. The front desk staff was very unfriendly and acted like I was bothering them by asking questions like where the womens locker room was since they did not offer any info when joining for the week. BEWARE OF THEIR SCAM! My husband went in the gym to cancel his membership before we moved away from Destin and they convinced him to "freeze" his account, claiming that he could restart it at any time without having to pay the introductory fees. A couple months later we noticed they somehow billed our credit card for the membership. Our credit card had even been changed due to fraudulant activity on our account and they charged an extra fee for having to resubmit claims-over $100 for a membership and fees for something we didn't use or request to restart from the so called "freeze" which he had actually tried to cancel initially!! We tried to call them and see if they could help us with this, but they claimed that it was our problem and held no accountability. I have now seen other reviews from other people who they have dealt this same scam to. (see Google reviews) I rarely write reviews, but I felt the need to warn people of this, so that hopefully others do not fall prey to this scam. Tourists beware as there are other local scam artists that are well practiced in screwing people over. I learned this from living on the Gulf coast 3 years. Also the gym equipment is old and crammed in there and is usually overcrowded causing you to wait for machines multiple times at each visit. read more

Gold's gym need to get better management. Some equipment are ok, but some are not. Employees cleaning the floors and equipment while we are work out is just not acceptable at all, specially when the gym is very busy. I Dislike the place very much! I would never go back there again. read more
