I'm honestly really surprised by the low rating here! I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I've been here for about a month and I think it offers a great value. I have my gym membership through my insurance so I have a subsidized price. And through that I'm able to access the gym as well as all the classes. I really enjoy the classes and I think the Gym is very well 19. You don't see out of service signs on any of the machines nor do the machines Have peeled leather or worn out seat seats. It's honestly a very well maintained Gym. I haven't had any issues since coming here. And the classes don't get canceled nor do they have to adjust their hours at all. I do think that if they had better hours, you could see a lot more people because ever since Covid things close earlier and this could definitely attract more people if it had better hours. I also agree with some other reviews that they need to turn the AC up. When you first walk in the AC is pretty strong but then once you walk near the check-in desk, the gym floor and. Workout room and the exercise group room it's very very hot. I would definitely recommend that they not to invest in fans but a stronger AC unit. If they did that honestly this would be a five out of five for me. read more

I've been a member for 10+ years now and the majority of the reviews are from the old ownership. The change happened a few years ago and it's been a night and day difference. The staff is friendly, considerate, and will do what they can to help and listen to any concerns. They offer classes, the basic equipment you need, and most important to me a welcoming environment. It's a big name brand but it's a small family owned business and you can tell. Highly suggest anyone local looking for a gym to consider this one, you won't regret it. Only negative is how many times I end up going next door to ShopRite. read more

The equipment is in good condition. The gym is not huge but has everything you need to get a good workout. There is a spin room and a room where people take classes. The gym has tanning booths and also daycare if you want to drop off the kids while you are working out. The locker room is clean and seems to be maintained. read more

Stopped in here while visiting home. Not huge, but has everything that I needed- ample free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. Has about 3 squat racks, 2 flat benches, and 2 incline benches. No complaints, just a bit small for a golds gym in my opinion. read more

First review ever because the experience was bad enough. Been going to the gym for about year. Place is more of a planet fitness than a gym. Staff is unfriendly with the exception of two of them. Had a trainer ask me to not drop weights which was an accident the first time and then after placed the weight down she came around the corner and yelled at me. She had right to ask me not to so I apologized and she still continued to give me an attitude and raise her voice to me. I didn't appreciate it so I said ok. She said it was because they don't want the equipment to get ruined; however, in the corner someone was doing box jumps against the wall and breaking the dry wall in front of it and another trainer was using battle ropes marking and hitting the equipment. Overall, there is many loose bench tops and other pieces of equipment not in great condition. Many items are beat up from use over the years and many rooms are marked up. Ultimately I cancelled because I don't use cable machines much or cardio equipment and the place is more set up for that than anything else. Cancelling has been a mess too with the ABC billing company as well so buyer beware. read more

I have been a member since Gold's Gym, Flanders, opened over 10 years ago. Since the gym changed ownership a few years ago, it has become a much better gym. The new owners are very responsive and the staff members are friendly and helpful. They have updated equipment and repainted the entire gym to give it a fresh look, The gym is ideal for everyone at any level of fitness. I highly recommend Gold's Gym of Flanders! read more

We were original members at the Flanders location. The gym was nice enough when it first opened but the place became a little worn and needs updating. Also, the classrooms are small and usually overcrowded. The worst thing about this gym is ABC Financial. It is very difficult to cancel your membership long after you have fulfilled your 18 months. Not only do they require a written request, but they tell you they will take at least 60 days to process and you will be expected to continue to make payments until it is. Outrageous. And information on canceling is not written anywhere. You have to call and take notes from a service person. Cancellation should be a click. read more

ABC Financial is an absolute nightmare. The gym is decent. Decent enough space, decent enough equipment, and decent enough price. However, ABC Financial handles the contracts, AND THEY MAKE YOU JUMP THROUGH HOOPS to cancel your membership. Please guys, change your billing services. Planning a trip in the area and Googled Gold's Gym, since they are reasonably close to family living in the area. A few years back when my son and I were visiting family, we were looking for a gym since at that time he was a varsity football player, in need of a gym to work out daily while away. I appreciated how accommodating the staff were. They were very helpful, and understanding my situation they recommended I speak with the manager directly, who worked out at a reasonable rate for our visit rather than an expensive day rate for a week+. My only advice to the gym, however, after reading the negative reviews, would be to revise your cancellation policy because it is, unfortunately, overshadowing all the good your gym has to offer. read more

Good for cardio. Only one squat rack. Need more equipment but not enough space. Gym is on the smaller side.

Maybe 2 years ago the equipment was in good condition... now, in 2017, there is a lot of old tired equipment, walls and floors need refurbishing and they made the yoga studio an 'ab room' by moving the ab equipment in there. No more yoga or pilates. Still, it's relatively inexpensive except that you can't freeze your membership if you're away or ill for an extended time. read more

The gym was nice about 3 years ago when I joined. Since then, it has become very run down. Many of the machines are not smooth anymore. Also, the padding on the benches and many of the equipment have large tears in them. Carpet in the women's locker room is filthy. There is a side room that used to be used for core work. It is now a waste of space because they cleared out some of the equipment and installed hooks for TRX. That would be fine, however, you are not allowed to use it unless you are in a TRX class that you have to pay extra for. Other than a person or so using the last bit of equipment in that room, it is pretty empty whenever I have been there. Since there is only 1 squat rack, maybe utilize the room and make space for an additional squat rack. I cancelled my membership due to how run down the place has gotten and joined Nitro in Chester. read more

The Flander's Gold's Gym is small and equipment is always breaking and not kept clean except for the filthy yellow rags and spray the rely on the members to use. The spin classes with Steve are the best. He has a lot of energy and I am always guaranteed a good carrion workout. Wish they had more spin classes with Stephanie, she is another great spin instructor. Small Group with Julie is challenging and more of an individual training than one of the Body Pump or Body Combat classes. She makes sure your form is correct and you are using the correct amount of weight which is difficult to do in a larger class. So less chance of being injured. Classes are geared more to the non-working members so it is not easy to try them. read more

Think twice before signing on the dotted line. As written earlier, the billing practices are deceptive and misleading. They will do everything possible to avoid answering your question and change the billing policies midterm. The staff at Golds Gym will redirect all your questions over to outsourced company called ABC Financial and pretend not to have any answers once you sign up. read more

First, the positives: Open early mornings. Nice staff. Child care is a bonus, too! My wife loved the classes. Great equipment. Now, for the negatives: We have been members of Gold's since it opened at the Flanders location. We signed an 18-month contract, and once that contract expired, we were informed that our new contract (we didn't sign any paperwork) would be on a month-to-month basis. How it was explained to us (again, no paperwork/paper trail for this), was that we could cancel at anytime we wanted, now that we weren't bound by a contract. My wife and I needed to cancel our memberships because of an out-of-state career move. We were then informed that we needed to give two-month's notice...yet we were set to move in a month. We cancelled our membership in June 2015, and now it's September 2015, and Gold's is still calling us to submit payment for the final month of our contract (again, no paperwork supporting this!) for a month where we weren't even in NJ, using the club. Like a previous member said, Gold's has set up their contracts so that members have to pay to leave (they'll continue billing you!), even on a so-called month-to-month contract. read more

I would not recommend this gym at all. As the other reviewer mentioned, the billing practices are extremely sketchy. I am cancelling my membership as I was promised one price and later billed for another. Also, the front desk staff are very friendly and nice but the sales staff are usually rude and lacking in customer service skills.
