BEWARE I endured the worst customer service over a disputed charge. The general manager himself says to me, "I'm the general manager, there's no one else to report to, and I'm not going in circles with you. I'm actually very busy today." And he HUNG UP on me. I paid for TWO memberships for me and my choreographer to rehearse, was in an accident and cancelled BOTH memberships, including BOTH agreement numbers on the letter they told me to write. Gold's Gym Crofton ruined my credit and I was on a month to month My understanding was this was not a contractual obligation which meant if I didn't pay I couldn't use the facilities. Well after they reopened from the shut down in July the charged me for months k didn't use the gym. I hadn't used the facilities since February. Shut down happened March 19 they attempted to charge me on March 22 I called the number for the gym they had no forwarding info and corporate is purely for sales. I called the number on my bank statement it was for billing a company called ABC something I expressed I didn't want the membership the agent pulled my card so I didn't think anything of it. When I saw this on my credit report I called the gym the Manager said I was supposed to call when the gym reopened in July. This is unacceptable especially given the gym was closed for 4 or so months... I would caution anyone thinking to join Gold's Gym Crofton...these business practices are harmful especially if you are trying to build or protect your credit while staying healthy. I also saw a few other posts with this issue...I am willing to see what it would take to do a CLASS-ACTION as this business practice is harmful to credit when credit was not a requirement for a month to month Also I'm seeing multiple reviews stating that they were charging during the shut down. The only problem with this place is not the fault of the owners. Let me start by explaining why I love this gym so much and finish with the only down side. This gym can get crowded but the amount of available equipment makes the crowds virtually no problem at all. The price is very reasonable compared to other gyms and they were even willing to negotiate with me when I inquired about the costs and initiation fees. This art of polite and friendly negotiation is something I frequently feel is lost in our modern US society. It was nice to see they were willing to entertain reasonable offers from me. Other than that, I can't review the staff too much as I don't regularly interact with them. I'm very independent when it comes to my workout. I like to develop my own routines and be left to my vices and it appears they respect my desires here. The only negative is I keep over exerting myself here. Now that I'm getting back into an exercise routine, I must come to face the fact it's going to take me longer to reach my goals than it did 10 years ago. Again, this is no fault of the owners or the staff. This is the fault of the Supreme Architect of the Universe (or whatever you may call him/her/it) for making my body less resilient in my 30s than it was in my 20s. Was between joining this gym and a few others in the area, I chose this one due to having a ladies only area because gyms especially large gyms can be super intimidating. I like that I can go straight to the ladies area and just focus on my workout HOWEVER I do wish with all the renovations and expansions that they wouldn't have forgotten about the ladies area. It is VERY small with limited equipment and many ladies use this area so I hope in the future that there are plans to expand and to add more machines. read more

It took me a long time to finally bite the bullet and purchase a gym membership but I finally did and can't say how glad I am that I went with this gym. The gym is usually spotless. You can see the cleaning crew constantly moving throughout the gym while you are working out. Most of the equipment is fairly new and the few machines I have seen breakdown are usually fixed within a couple of days. Most of the day care staff are good. They have been pretty good about coming out to the gym floor and finding me when my 2 year old needs tending to. I only do one of the classes from time to time and that is the spin class. It is good. There are other classes going on throughout the day. Typical gold's gym stuff. I travel a lot and the travel pass has been awesome. I can go to just about any gold's in the country for 14 days a year for free. This is fine with me because I am rarelly in the same city for that many days a year. The rule is that you must be 50 miles from your home gym but most of the staff don't typically check and let you workout without any charge. I typically work out in the gyms over in virginia when I have a meeting or something. I usually go in the morning (9 AM) and the gym has a good crowd but I never have a problem getting onto a bench/machine and most all of the people are willing to share if necessary. I have been once or twice at 5-6 PM and the place is pretty packed. read more

Management here is unresponsive -- While the club itself is fine, the personnel and overall management is far from that. Gale Davis, listed as the GM for this club, was who I was told to contact regarding a simple membership cancellation, is not someone whose club I'd like to be a member of. Multiple phone calls to the club itself in addition to two emails never elicited a response from Ms. Davis, despite me being a loyal Gold's Gym member for 3+ years. In addition, when I went to transfer my membership from the Crofton location to the Glen Burnie location, I received mixed messages from the customer service representatives/front desk personnel regarding that process and how I would have to go about it. There was no clear consensus from the personnel working there about how this process would take place, which is completely inexcusable. read more

I have been a member of the crofton location for 12 years. Several years ago the gym installed a disastrous online registration system known as motionvibe. It works inconsistently at best. I could not get the app to work and asked staff to help. They glatly refused and "Josh" hung up on me when he decided that I was arguing with him. Not a surprise/ staff at this gym and other Golds are routinely rude and seem not to connect pur membership fees with their continued employment. It is clearly a top down issue as management doesn't respond to calls or emails and decisions are routinely made without any member input. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM UNLESS YOU ENJOY BRING TREATED AS IF YOU ARE A NUISANCE. read more

I have been a member of Goldsgym, Crofton for 17 years and seriously thought of finding a new gym. The new manager Gail is outstanding, she has improved the gym at 1000 fold from the sloppy customer service to people who now smile and greet you, The new equipment and renovations have made the gym brighter and more welcoming along with the quality of personal trainers. I really now love working out at the gym.... under Gail's management it is only going to get better. read more

Just moved to the area and joined recently. This gym has everything you need if you are bodybuilder. The hammer strength equipment machines are great and they have dumbbells that go up to 150. I really like the outdoor area and how they have powerlifting platforms also. Plenty of cardio equipment also. Best gym I ever worked out at. read more

This gym is absolute trash. I was a member here for about two years. Equipment would stay broken for weeks. The personal trainers were on their phones while clients used the worst form imaginable on exercises. While other gym members were coked out on steroids and making it unsafe for everyone else, the gym staff did nothing to remedy this. Some gym members would park in the middle of the street, and again staff did nothing. When I eventually went to cancel, management was vague and deceptive and continued to charge my bank account even after the cancellation was confirmed. read more

My favorite golds out of all the golds gym in Maryland. Only issue is they haven't replaced the 100 and 110 pound dumbells. There is only one of each and I assume the missing ones are broken. This location is further away for my than the others included in my membership. It takes me about 30 mins (rt 3..arrrrgh) to get here and the parking is Plentiful, just busy. I used to come all the time because the kids club will admit three month old babies whereas the other locations don't take them until 6 months old. They have a great selection of group exercise classes and I enjoyed them, but not so much to continue the drive once my kids were old enough for the kids clubs at the other locations. I only come here once a week now. Friday yoga with Kim is the best! Totally worth the drive. It is the highlight of my week! Because she is an amazing and caring and super knowledgeable instructor, Her class is super crowded, so pre-register and come early. I must also say having the Effective Integrated healthcare there on site was handy. When I needed a chiropractor to help with an injury, I could use the kids club so I didn't need to find a sitter. read more

Full disclosure - I only pay about $10/month for this gym so my rating/review is made with that in mind. If I had to pay much more than that amount, I probably wouldn't maintain my membership and would surely try to find an alternative. That being said, this Gold's offers a whole lot for a low price. Sure, the parking lot gets crowded but I rarely have a problem finding a machine to use inside. People are courteous and not in your face. I agree that the facility - especially the locker room - could benefit from a bit more TLC. But overall you do get a lot more than you pay for if you can lock in a low rate. read more

My family has been members for several years, and love the equipment, classes, clientele and ambience in the work out rooms. HOWEVER, scheduling for admittance to classes is a bureaucratic pain in the ass, especially for people with jobs, children and a full day of responsibilities. The recent requirement to sign up on MotionVibe within 24 hours for each and every class you intend to take is a new time-eating, bureaucratic stress-inducing hurdle intended for retirees and the financially independent with much time on their hands... We working parents do not have time to plan our every move for the next 24 hours. When we can squeeze in time for a class, we need to be able to go spontaneously, and of course may not necessarily have internet access or connectivity when the opportunity arises. AND MotionVibe simply does not work. It is inaccurate and glitchy. For example, this week it shows no classes at all on Monday after 10:30am. Accessing tomorrow's schedule took a couple of reloads (via FIOS!) and Suggestion to Management: Go into any class and ask for a concensus; customers will loudly tell management to get rid of this MotionVibe crap. And while you're at it, please clean the bathrooms. And clean up the sauna. We want to love "our club" again.... read more

As several others have stated, this place continues its downward spiral. I hadn't been back to this location since my horrible experience with the trainer, opting for Bowie or Marley Station instead. But last month, I decided to give it another shot, as there was a class on a Saturday morning that I'd been wanting to try and this was one of the only gyms that offered it. So I drove from Arnold to Crofton specifically for this class, but when I arrived, it wasn't on Motion Vibe, so I approached the desk for help. The young woman behind the desk was engaged with another guest, chatting about personal matters and ignoring the fact that I was waiting behind this person needing help. After several minutes, the guest moved on and she finally acknowledged me, although she looked like she'd rather be anywhere but where she was. I asked for a class schedule, saying that the schedule online was not correct to which she replied, "No, it's sure not!" No apology, no further explanation, nothing. Since I was already there, I decided to go ahead and get my workout in anyway, so I went to the locker room to put my purse away, then hit the gym floor. The locker room was filthy, with one of the doors to a toilet stall hanging on its hinges and dirt caked into the corners of the room. The floor looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum in a month. And there is a moldy odor that permeates the entire locker room. I didn't look into the showers, but I'm sure it would have been unpleasant if I had. After doing a bit of strength training, I went to the cardio cinema to use the bikes. None of the buttons on the bike I was on worked, so I was unable to adjust the time or any other settings, so I just decided to bike manually. Then two women came in and got on bikes beside me, and proceeded to talk and laugh loudly, to the point that I couldn't hear the movie. After several minutes of this, I became frustrated and left the cinema and asked to use the tanning bed (after another long wait at the desk). When I got into the tanning room, the top of the tanning bed was covered in a layer of dust, to the point that someone had taken their finger at some point and written "wash me" in the dust. Obviously, nobody had taken their advice since it was still there. I've visited several other Gold's locations since signing up, and my experiences have been pleasant at all of the other locations. Everywhere else, the staff greet you with a smile, patrol the gym floors and periodically check in on the cardio cinemas. The guests are considerate of each other, and the facilities are clean. But the Crofton location is a disgrace to the Gold's name, and I'm ashamed to have it listed on my key tag. The overall poor attitude and customer service and lack of cleanliness show a serious lack of leadership from the management team. read more

Gold's Gym was the first big gym in Crofton. My family signed up years ago and it was very nice. I wouldn't say it got worse but generally it just doesn't seem to compete with larger, newer gyms. There's no pool and some equipment just seems kinda old. The cleaning lady would vacuum around your feet while you're working out. I know you have to, and it's nice to keep the place clean but really, you're right by my feet. Also, they don't have towel services. Like, you have to leave the towels in the locker room and they're supposed to only be for showers. So generally it's just a lot of sweaty people dripping everywhere. Why not just throw a few trash bins around where people can toss their towels - wash them - put them out - repeat. I'm sure it won't be a huge issue for your oh-so-busy desk clerks. The memberships are decently priced. If you talk to someone, they will work with you. I was paying only $20 for a while, but then actually realized when I had it lowered to that I should've been paying LESS @ $10/month since I don't take classes. Kinda think they were trying to rip me off a little... but whatever. $20 was not bad at all. Closing the account was also a bit of a pain. You have to give them proof you are moving, I'm not sure if I was still in my contract though. I remember people I know had said in the past if you ever wanted to cancel your account there they do WHATEVER to keep you, including lowering rates, pestering you a lot, etc. Even dealing with someone I knew from school he was a bit annoying. Like dude, I'm moving, I can't drive here anymore, LET ME GOOOO!!! The people working at the front desk were never super friendly. They seemed too cool and just generally busy doing nothing. I did stress some negatives, but overall it is a good place to work out. The "women's gym" is a nice feature. A room of weights and machines just for the ladies to have some privacy without big sweaty men around. I missed these aspects while living in Baltimore. Overall, good place to work out for decent prices but the staff isn't so great. read more

This particular location is the closest one to my job so it makes it more convenient to go here before work. I don't really have many complaints overall it's not a bad gym however it could probably use some upgrades. I've come 5 days this week and the particular girl that works the early morning shift with the lip piercing and glasses is the most unfriendly person ever. Her name is Gigi apparently. Her customer service and demeanor is overall negative and unapproachable. Hopefully someone from the gym sees this and approached her about her attitude. The way employees treat customers really affects whether or not they will return and apparently from previous reviews people are starting to go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Gold's for probably over 10 years. I love the gym, the people are super friendly and they always are willing to talk to you, help you, make sure you're having a good experience. The last 2.5 years I've been using the childcare and except for a recent lapse(due to the expansion, which is going to be awesome, I think!) they have been absolutely amazing! I have 3 young kids, and they love coming. The ladies are understanding, non-judgemental and really do everything they can to care for your kiddos. They don't allow food and they can't change diapers, but they actually play with your kids, they comfort them if they cry, they take the time to learn their names and what they like. My favorite thing about them is they they are, for the most part, all moms. So they get it. And they understand if you're having a hard day or need time for yourself or you're kids are driving you insane. They can see it on your face and they try to help. And I LOVE them for that!! read more

My company pays for it and I'm still canceling. Without a doubt the dirtiest gym I've attended ever. The lockers and locker rooms smell and you couldn't pay me to take a shower in those stalls. Great Precor 100i AMT machines,, they should upgrade to the 800 series like other local gyms. They need to replace the dirty carpet, clean the dust and dirt of off the speakers and back of TV's and enforce members wiping down machines after use and use better quality paper towels rather than the middle school junk. Three colds in four weeks, bad air quality. LA Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness is a much cleaner and healthier place. I'll stick to my TRX and Life Fitness Elliptical at home. read more

Golds is cheap, 4 min drive from home and parking is ok. The people behind the desk are fairly nice and helpful, I applaud their attempts to expand which may benefit some.. I wish they could do what every other gym in the world does and let you actually listen to their Tv's. It's pointless to have them on, and in their case, it's all news channels, and have to lip read. The elliptical machines are really old and outdated. I have submitted two customer surveys and they have really taken it onboard in terms of adding space, remodeling facilities and creating a more friendly atmosphere. Me and my family wanted to join a gym due to the fact that we all needed to get in better shape. We looked around and the closest gyms were Golds and L.A. Fitness. We went to L.A. Fitness JUST to look and price out the membership for a family of 4.. I was uncomfortable. The music was soo loud and the staff was pushing us too much to sign up... So we go to Gold's..... We sat down with the manager to discuss prices and such. My mom explained how it was my sisters senior year(which is very expensive) and that we were trying to budget things out. He gave us a special deal that was almost unbeatable for a family of 4. He respected the fact that my mom wanted to go home to discuss this with my dad. The manager gave us until Monday before he dropped the deal and sure enough we came back in that following Monday and signed up. The staff is always friendly and my trainer was AMAZING! I RARELY have to wait for the equipment and I have seen the staff come in and vaccume, clean the bathrooms, and wipe down any machines not in use. The big picture... I would highly recommend this gym! Forget about L.A. Fitness. Gold's has always done right by family and even if they mess up on one thing they fix it right away read more

I love this gym! They have more strength training equipment than the other gyms I've been to, including machines and equipment for adequate stretching. They have speciality rooms such as a cross fit room, a cardio cinema, a spinning room, an aerobic room and a yoga studio. The members here are great too. Most of them are serious weight lifters, focused on their workouts and not here to chit chat and or pick up girls. read more

I love this place they have soon much to offer a stay at home mom. U can workout, they have classes, Tanning, I can shower and not be interrupted my my 2 yr old or my 3 month old! They have a great kids nursery and my toddler never seems to want to leave. I do have some constructive criticism. The kids area is great but there needs to be less tv related things. This is how kids these days get ADHD. Prolbly need more adults in the nursery because when I go there seems to be way to many kids for the amount of adults. Showers are a little nasty. I absolutely love Gold's Gym in Crofton. It is my home gym and I have been a member there for almost 20 years. I could not imagine working out at any other place. I even call my friends and the people who work and workout at the gym, my "gym family". Recently, Crofton Golds hired a New General Manager named Gail and you can instantly see the positive changes that have taken place in the gym. Gail is professional and strives for excellence in customer service and treats every member as if they were a family member. That same sentiment has been passed down to the other employees so that from the time you walk into that gym until the time you leave the positive tone is set. The changes that I have noticed are big and even the little details make a difference and keep me coming back every single day. It gives me pride in knowing that I am a Golds Gym member at the Crofton Gold's. Gail is approachable and is General Manager who understands what is important to the customer. She seems to always be listening to constantly improve the gym and what I love about Gayle is that she is always open to feedback, constructive criticism, as it pertains to member satisfaction. I will continue to go to golds gym and I am encouraged by the recent changes in management. I recognize that the owners of the Crofton Golds Gym are committed to making investments to better serve their members and the community. Hiring Gail also shows that the owners understand my commitment and my investment in my gym membership which is important to me.
