Golds Gym has everything you need. Free weights, machines, cardio equipment, it's all there. Whether you're lifting, doing cardio, or just getting back into a routine, you can make it work here. The space is decent and laid out in a way that makes sense. Depending on the time of day, it can get busy, but I'm usually still able to get through my workout without too much waiting. It's a good mix of people too. You've got beginners, regulars, and people who are really serious about training, but it doesn't feel intimidating. Everybody is just focused on their own thing. The gym is kept up pretty well. Not perfect, but clean enough where it's comfortable to work out. Staff is cool. They're there if you need something, but they're not in your face, which I prefer. Only downside is peak hours can get crowded, especially around after work hours, so you might have to adjust your timing if you want a smoother workout. Overall, it's a reliable gym. I have been to all of the local gyms, in Gold's gym has been my favorite for a very long time. The other gyms may be newer, and more familiar because they're part of a chain... But none of them are as well equipped as Gold's. a massive complex, with a dedicated training area to just about any type of training you want to do. Golds Yelp Review While in the locker room of the gym in Crofton Maryland with my sister, we were notified that my sister does not have a multi-location membership and could only use the facility if she paid for a day pass, changed her membership or left the facility to workout at her "home" gym. Although surprised because she brought me to the location to work out with her (but no biggie) - We advised that we would come to pay for a day pass ($12.50) once being fully dressed. While still in the locker room, a male manager, Anthony O, entered without announcing himself and proceeded to very aggressively yell and tell us that we were trespassing. Unclear or how since I (at the very least) have a multi city membership, including this location. Now I get it - ROID rage is a thing that we tend to joke about in fitness, but in this moment, it was no laughing matter. Completely unhinged behavior! Once I came downstairs AFTER GETTING FULLY DRESSED, he would not allow me to pay for the day pass and called the police to suggest that I was trespassing, which I was not. Very scary times, when people try to WEAPONIZE the police. I was not arrested but shaken up about the incident, I am so grateful the police officers for reasonable. Which btw, aren't there non- emergency phone numbers to call in these instances??? I'd hate to see what they do if you're behind your membership. All jokes aside, is MD a stand your ground state? *lol in sarcasm* Ladies - I ADVISE YOU PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Unfortunately, this location has not properly trained their general managers, Anthony O, that the women's locker room should not be entered by men, especially without announcement. I've been a member at Gold's Gym Crofton for over 2 years now, and I can confidently say it's one of the best gyms in the area! The facility is fairly clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with a huge variety of equipment for all fitness levels. The weights are also re-wracked at this location. You rarely have to search the gym for free weights that you need. Another big plus is the 24/7 access, which is perfect for those with busy schedules. The locker rooms are clean, and the gym has a nice vibe--people are respectful and focused on their workouts. Been at this gym for years and all was going great. Great equipment and great price. Problem is the staff. Old owner and crew were phenomenal. This new staff lives by rude and hostile. Even in the kids room. My kids were sitting in the waiting area one day and were told to stand outside as I went to the car to grab my ID. If you choose to come here work out and don't make eye contact with anyone. The trainers are garbage. You can pay for a whole year of workouts and literally lose muscle based on their guidance. read more

Good large public gym with a bit of everything for everybody whether your thing is strength and fitness with weights and aerobic equipment, group exercise classes, power work or functional training. There are many machines and multiples so it's usually not a long wait even at peak times, and I've found people are cool if asked to work in. This gym is horrible. It sucks that it actually carries the Gold's Gym brand because it's actually independently owned. How do I know? I tried transferring my membership (which I had for several years) over, and I was told I could not... This is so they can charge me again on the initiation fee. The staff changes every other day... The receptionists never greet you or say anything when you walk in. Their head is down staring at their phones. If you need to ask for something it's like you're bothering them or it's an inconvenience. The cryotherapy area is pretty much the same - there's a person there that has their head down playing on their phone. As noted with many of the reviews, beware of the ridiculous cancellation policy. They require a written letter, which we sent via mail and they claimed they never received. They said we should have sent it certified mail. I went in to cancel and asked that the $49.99 pending annual fee be voided and the manager, Anthony said that was "impossible". I wasn't born yesterday, and am aware that voiding or crediting a transaction is not "impossible", they are just trying to be difficult. After reading the other reviews, I hope they don't continue to charge me even after I went in person with a letter to cancel. It seems like many others have had the same issues. read more

Overcrowded, difficult staff with memberships. Do not recommend over other gyms in the area

This is one of three locations within a 10 mile radius of my home. Located in Crofton, right off of three. You can't miss it! Parking appears to be alright considering it is in an area with other shops. Out of the three, this one is my fav. It is huge already AND they are making it bigger. I don't feel cramped or like I'm sitting on top of people like I have at other gyms. There are plenty of machines available for whatever you desire. They have an array of classes. Full disclosure, I joined because of Barre and Body Pump. These classes outside of a gym are crazy expensive and I can take as many as a want during the month for less money than a drop in at other studios. The staff and instructors are uber friendly and knowledgeable. Plus hydro massage....whew chile. Right now this is a winner and my go to spot. read more

Long time member. Owner has invested heavily in expansion and great equipment. However, at night time the back area of the gym is abhorrent and off putting. Why? People are allowed to play music super loud and pounding. effort by the staff to monitor and regulate this annoyance. I've only been to the gym for training one time after my free session. I stated several times that I wanted to train for one month and would be out of work so I CANNOT continue after a month. I was only supposed to be charged for a month and I was told that I got the "one month" price. As I was signing the agreement, I was told that I was signing it for a month and the price etc. i know that I should've read it for myself; however, I didn't think that I would be deceived into signing up for 12 months. I have messages that even show I asked for one month. I've tried getting the issue resolved numerous times and am being told I need to pay $250 for cancelling my 12 month contract when I shouldn't have money coming out of my account after the first month anyway. I've been going to this Gold's Gym for almost two years now and although there have been several issues, there weren't any I felt were bad enough to warrant a negative review, until now. The expansion was touted as being this wonderful thing and they have all this new equipment and space for people to workout...sounds great right? What they don't tell you is that they are now contracting out the use of that space and unless you want to go to the gym at odd hours, you're not going to get to use the facilities that you're now paying for. Mind you- these classes and such are not even listed on their calendar for you to plan around and they're not included in the emails about upcoming classes. It's frustrating when you're making use of the turf track and end up surrounded by a group of kids and then get asked by a trainer to leave the turf area. Additionally, there are SO MANY MORE CLASSES now. Even at 5am, you're going to have to dodge people and deal with getting pushed out of the areas you're working out in because the classes take priority over the individual members. The classes which used to be confined to the group exercise rooms are now spilling out onto the turf track as well. You'll be doing sled pushes or tire flips on the track and next thing you know you're getting stampeded by one of the classes. There needs to be a balance. Membership? They got rid of the lower membership rate when the new expansion opened so the lowest tiered membership they're offering now is $22/month. You can only sign up for a membership or make amendments to your membership M-F from 9am-5pm because they don't have anyone on the weekends who can do it.This is a HUGE disadvantage for people who work during those hours and can't get away to go to the gym to talk to one of their salespeople. They are incredibly unresponsive when you reach out and try to make amendments to your membership as well. We've been trying for a week to reach someone and still haven't received a call back. When you go into the gym Monday morning, expect to not be able to find anything. All the plates will be thrown anywhere there is floor space in the gym. People here have an incredibly hard time putting things back where they belong, ESPECIALLY the dumbbells. There are not enough of them for the number of people at the gym, and when classes are in session you're not going to be able to find any lower than 40lbs. Now for the positives...the front desk staff are incredibly cordial and really great. They greet you with a smile when you come in, even at 5am. The core group of people who go to the gym religiously in the morning are all very friendly as well. They do have several trainers who are incredibly knowledgeable and motivating but others are cold, stand offish, and act like you're an inconvenience to them if you're not in one of their classes. If there was another gym that was open 24/7 and was somewhat close to where we live, we would switch gyms in a heartbeat. read more
