I strongly advise against signing up for a membership at Gold's Gym Ritchie Station. This has been by far the worst gym experience I've encountered. I joined the gym in February, but shortly after, I moved just Forty-five minutes away-- I was expecting a simple process to cancel and switch to a more convenient location. I contacted ABC Fitness (the billing provider), and they informed me I needed to reach out to the gym directly to cancel. When I called Gold's Gym, I was shocked to learn that the only way to cancel is in person at the gym. I explained clearly that I no longer live in the area and asked if I could cancel via email or phone. I was told flat-out NO, with NO Exceptions and Zero Willingness to help. Despite informing them that I had moved and no longer intended to use the gym, they continued charging my account. This is unacceptable and feels like a deliberate strategy to trap members and keep billing them. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and contacting my bank to block any further charges from this location. Terrible customer service. Outdated and inflexible policies. Avoid at all costs. read more

I set up an account and they have the customer service of a shoe store (not good). He stayed on his phone the entire time. It's dark as hell. I want a refund so I can spend my money elsewhere. Horrible location, go somewhere else. Undercover boss this place. read more

So i've been going to golds for last 3ish years and switching the powerlifting room to being the new abs area is kind of ridiculous to think about knowing that the particular room felt as if it was meant for powerlifting in general instead of abs. Please if there's ever a meeting about the equipment being moved again. Move everything back. I get the idea of having it out in the open, but no. read more

I love this gym! Gold's gym chain is a TRUE fitness playground business that caters to REAL fitness freaks, or people who take their workouts VERY seriously, people who see fitness as part of their lifestyle. The choice of equipment offered, alone, at Gold's is incomparable to the other so-called local gyms, including L.A. Fitness. My ONLY reason for NOT giving THIS Gold's gym 5 stars is because it has a sauna instead of a steam room; I HATE the smell and feel of dry heat that comes from a sauna. Sauna always smells like a mixture of sweat, balls and butt to me - a man with a hyper-sensitive sense of smell - so give me the many benefits of being in a steam room after an intense workout ANYday of the week over a putrid sauna!! read more

This is the only paid workout facility I am aware of that treats the group exercise room like a storage room. So I've been a member of this gym since about 2020 and honestly I love it here. I love that it's 24 hours. The cleaning staff be working to do their best. There's a lot of motivation here as far as people who work really hard as well as the "insta" type of folk so you get a blend. It's irking at time because too many people here refuse to put their equipment back so you can have to adjust your workout. They have a sauna so that's lit. I love the outdoor workout video and the mirror in the bathroom is like that. A ton of treadmills here and smoke parking. Also solid programming. Could do better with the water fountain that was out for a bit in the summer - not sure if it's fixed because just started filling my bottle up at home but that was an inconvenience. There's definitely high tide hours I avoid but overall love it here! read more

Okay let me start out by saying I have been going to gyms in multiple states (do to work I move often) for well over 10 years. This is by far the worst gym in terms of cleanliness and holding members accountable I have ever been too. I'll start with the good things : Equipment: I was actually excited when I moved to the area because the gym was close, it was 24 hours, and had most of the equipment you don't find in a typical gym and for a great price However...... You will spend the most time of your workout looking for dumbbells and unloading weight. I have been to gyms in all types of areas and have never witnessed such a lack of respect for equipment by its members. There are multiple signs that say "put your weights back, or your mebodymbership will be revoked". It's a joke I've brought this up to multiple employees and their answer is just "yeah that happens here". IMO if you enforce the rules just a few time then everyone will get the point. I am happy to drive further and pay more in order to be able to get in and get out of my workout in a timely manner. read more

The weights are kind of thrown everywhere and you really can't find any other barbell or dumbbells in the station are all sporadic

I've been a member of this gym for more than a year now. I recently moved and needed to cancel membership. I went in on a Saturday afternoon, Feb 26, and asked to cancel membership for both myself and my daughter. I was told I needed to write a letter and they would give it to the manager on Monday. I stood there at the front desk and wrote the letter on a sheet of computer paper they provided me. I signed and dated it. I was assured the manager would cancel. I called back a week later to confirm it was canceled and the young man told me that they were "pending cancellation." After the end of the month, membership would be canceled. I was charged for the subsequent month of March which I begrudgingly accepted since they require 30 days notice. Well today I got charged for April membership. I called back and asked for a manager. I was put on hold for an excessively long time only for the manger to say no letter is on file and there's nothing she could do about it. She was neither helpful, considerate or professional. She simply didn't care and didn't offer a resolution. She gave me an email to the general manager. I've emailed the general manager and hope she can resolve by Refunding my two April membership charges and canceling the membership completely. This location seems to be run by a bunch of nonchalant, unprofessional people. I wouldn't recommend this location at all. It's typically overcrowded and not the cleanest. And now this experience with canceling has completely turned me off. If your up for a little further drive , LA Fitness on Watkins Park Dr is a better option read more

So from what I can tell, out of the three in the 10 mile radius of my home this one is two of three if I had to rate them all. First things first, this is located in Richie Marlboro Station. You can't miss it. There is plenty of parking but you might have to walk a bit. But you are at a gym to work out, right? This location is spacious, it has two levels and you don't feel crowded as I felt in another location. There are ropes, a couple of group fitness class rooms, punching bags, an outdoor workout area, and plenty of equipment. The greatest thing Golds did was get those hydro chairs...Chile. Scene. Cue Queen Yonce All the Single Ladies.... ...if y'all chicas looking...there was plenty of eye candy there. End Scene. I'm back. Whew. Go to Gold's and workout. read more

Let me start off by saying I'm someone who's I'm moderately good shape and have been working out on and off for years. However, the crowd at this particular gym is very intimidating. Not only is the gym packed at 5am, it's packed with dudes who are so swollen they look like they are about to burst. They are standing around, talking, hanging out.. oh and training people. I'm not trying to knock anyone's hustle, but it's very distracting when you're trying to workout and folks are just standing around crowding machines. My biggest qualm with this gym is that it is always packed. I've gone at 5 am, 8 am, 3 pm and 4 pm and it's so many people each time. People arrive in herds. I don't have any complaints about the equipment. There are some pretty unique machines and I've never seen anything broken. I also don't think it's fair that the trainers monopolize the entire turf section upstairs. I'm a paying member and want to do my body weight exercises up there, it's difficult though when training groups are running around up there. The crowd is unbearable. I may have to cancel come the New Year, when everyone starts working out again?Or maybe I'll have to go at 1 o'clock in the morning when it's somewhat empty. Second review: all gyms have unauthorized training. I'm not mad at it... happens everywhere. But at this location it is truly a huge issue. The outside trainers literally run a gym and are ruining any ounce of professionalism this place has left. They train not one, not two, but often groups of 8-10 people. This takes up most of the free space real estate. The green turf area is dominated by sports trainers, and such. There's is no control on this at all and that's the most upsetting part. I'm really tired of paying for a gym I can barely work out in. I have a set planned workout and can never accomplish it because I dont have space to do so. Turning in my 30 day end of contract notice ASAP. read more

This gym has really deteriorated since the first day it's opened. I have 2 issues that I'm going to outline here in detail for any prospective members. 1. Freelance PersonalTrainers: The gyms policy clearly states that you are not allowed to conduct freelance training of any kind with out the consult of the gym. Yet individuals constantly hold sessions of 5-8 "clients" with doing this they take up a whole sections at a time leaving the rest of us there who want to use an area to stretch or do some body weight exercises out of luck. This is frustrating as the gym is already overcrowded. You can't state what your rules and conditions but then you allow certain people to illicitly break them. I've been told many times by those individuals who aren't in partnership with gym to clear out of areas because personal training is being conducted. That's not right and management has to do a better job of enforcing this rule. 2. THE LOCKER ROOMS: Every time I use the locker rooms there are never any lockers available, or if they are available they are very damaged. The policy clearly states that any overnight locks will be cut off and disposed of. I come to the gym about 4 times a week and have seen the same locks on the same lockers for weeks at a time and nothing gets done. Stop allowing folks to keep locks on overnight just to save them selves a locker space for their next gum visit. It takes away the opportunity for anyone to use the lockers. The shower and sauna areas need to be maintained more often than they regularly are. I understand that it's harder to get in there and clean during periods of high volume but some effort needs to be made. The smells that emanate from the locker rooms go beyond that of normal body odor. I believe it stems from lack of consistent cleaning. This gym has the potential to be great but it's just resting on its laurels probably because the revenue pulled in for the members is covering all necessary expenses do their profit margins are looking good. Honestly I would love to know how they depreciate their machinery and what amount of maintenance expense they incur on a year to year basis. Machines here have been down for months, but they faithfully charge that annual fee for the "up keep" of the gym. Nothing is being upkeep and the gym is starting to fall apart. Management please do what you say you will do, so you don't lose credibility. Thanks! read more

I've been a member of this gym for several years now and I'm very disappointed in the level of service received. Typically trainers will reserve a particular space to train their clients and during those times other members are not permitted in that area which is understandable. On one occasion I had a trainer who goes by the name of Moe, tell me to leave an area of the gym so that she could use it for her clients. She also said that since she pays a $1000 rental fee I needed to leave. Not only was she rude & condescending in speaking with me, but I was already in that area prior to her coming over to me. The area I was in was not reserved prior to me being there, therefore I told her I would leave once I had finished my workout. I reported her to the manager, Brian who pretty much said that he had spoken with her already & advised her that we should all work together. To have a trainer be territorial, rude, and feel that she can speak to other gym goers anyhow is unacceptable. Not to mention people in this gym do not re-rack weights. Dirty paper towels and empty water bottles are everywhere. Truly disappointed in this Golds Gym. Not sure why management doesn't care about the upkeep and doesn't care to please customers but I do hope they work on it. read more

I've been to plenty of gyms in the area. I can honestly without a doubt in my mind, say this is by far the worse one. Please work on making sure equipment works PLEASE. I enjoy the convenience of being able to train in this gym but as it pertains to recovery services you all have to do a little better. This Gold's should spend more time on cleaning especially after Covid has been such a negative impact. Gold's is the anti-Planet Fitness facility. Here, "lunks" (body builders who grunt, wear skinny stringers/muscle tanks, and carry around a gallon of water), trainers, Division 1 athletes, and other fitness enthusiasts are actually celebrated! I get bored pretty quickly so variety and options are extremely important. Gold's has a ton of free weights, 2 turf areas, multiple group ex rooms, a boxing section, and an abundance of fresh State of the Art equipment. On the turf, you will see conditioning drills, folks sprinting, pushing sleds, etc.) I actually watched an MMA match the other night that captured the attention of most of the folks on the top floor. Cybex, HOIST, and Precor strength equipment are available on both levels. The HOIST Dual Series line is one my favorites since it adds efficiency to my workouts. Additionally, Spin, Zumba, Yoga, and Les Mills class offerings (Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Flow, Sprint) are available on a daily basis. There are battle ropes, heavy duty tires, and TRX Suspension Trainers in various places throughout the facility. The ropes and resistance bands are controlled now, but Front Desk personnel will provide if you agree to leave your ID or car keys... To add a little balance, I'll add a few low impact cons. -It's crowded during peak hours -Super slow Wi-Fi (hard to stream music, retrieve online programs, or synch fitness tracker) -No complimentary towels This 24-hour club is full of serious people committed to taking their fitness to the next level. There's lots of good energy and all of this for less than $40 per month. This is indeed a dope gym! read more

Love going to the gym, they have newer amenities and I've never had issue with the staff. They enforce the mask policies without being assholes about it. I took one star away because they changed their hours and now I am not able to use this gym anymore. I now have to drive all the way to crofton. So I've been consistently coming to this gym for about 3 weeks now. I absolutely loveeeee all of the equipment they have! I mean they literally have everything! I'm following a online program and this gym has every machine and weight I could imagine. When I work out here I leave with a sense of purpose! The facility is always generally clean & Ive never run into a issue where a machine was broken. BIGGEST COMPLAIN: outside personal training!!!!!!! There are SO MANY guys who don't work for Golds, that bring herds of people inside the gym to train them. Despite Golds "No free lance training" rule, it's happens more often then not here. I usually don't pay it any attention, but the reason it annoys me is because they take up all of the equipment! They will be using 5 machines at a time training their "clients" and get a attitude when you try to use the machines. Also there is also groups of men just standing around talking, laughing, gawking, & supervising their "clients". It's like a open meat market. This can make going to this gym very intimidating especially for a woman who may be introverted or shy. Golds really needs to put control on this. I love coming here & working out, but I'm considering canceling & going else where just because of the above. read more

You have to take the good with the bad. No gym is perfect and I'll try to compile a fair list of pros and cons so you can get a true perception of what this Golds location is like. Pros: *Serious lifters - people who are focused on their workouts and not so much talking. *Sauna - the women's sauna is HOT and it's very relaxing before or after a workout. *Classes - this is available if it's your thing. *Businesses - you can setup shop and sell your products on certain days *Locker rooms - large with plenty of lockers, space to change, showers, sauna, restrooms. *HydroMassage chairs - these are great for a post relaxation session *Management - Brian and Tre are not only the best managers I've ever dealt with but you can tell they truly care for all their patrons. No matter the issue, they are responsive and they get things done. The owner did a great job choosing this duo. *Staff - most of the staff is friendly and accommodating. They are attentive and easy to speak with. *Equipment - they have some top of the line equipment not just because they want to be a competitive gym but because the owner and the managers go out of their way to ensure that patrons have everything they need to be the best in Bodybuilding, Powerlifting and Olympic lifting. They've already ordered and installed two pieces of equipment that I specifically asked for and you won't find any other gyms in the area with a reverse hyper, especially not at this price point. *Fellow patrons - for the most part you'll meet some pretty awesome people who will encourage you and remind you to be consistent. You'll even get some constructive criticism if you're open to it. There are some big names that train here so you'll be exposed to that as well. *Cleanliness - there are several employees who clean up weights behind people and they do a great job. The women's locker room attendant does a great job and I personally love the heavy smell of bleach. They also have a team that comes in for a deep clean which I love because comparably speaking some of the other gyms have clear signs of YEARS of built up gunk! EW! *Turf - there is an upstairs turf area and an outside turf area. It's great for functional training especially on days when the gym isn't crowded. Cons: *Serious lifters - this isn't planet fitness or an ordinary neighborhood gym. People slam weights and grunt. *Sauna - for the size of the gym, the women's sauna is far too small. This depends on when you come but some days it can be completely empty while others 10-12 women will pile in like a sardine can. People bring in lotions and menthol products which make it hard to breathe for some. *Classes - sometimes classes can be rescheduled based on events or large groups of cheerleaders, dancers, etc. *Businesses - this can be frustrating when you're sticking to a schedule and there are vendors setup everywhere *Locker rooms - people bring in all kinds of awful smelling products and have no regard for how the smell may effect others. *HydroMassage chairs - not everyone wipes them down after use so be safe and wipe it down before use. *Staff - some staff members will roll their eyes and treat you as if you're wasting their time. It's unfortunate. *Equipment - it can be a little frustrating when people abuse the equipment causing bars to be bent and roll improperly as well as other unnecessary damage. It does take some time for these repairs/replacements to be made. *Fellow patrons - unfortunately you'll see a lot of drug users and people who get a variety of implants. Both can cause some pretty nasty dramatic events in the gym but my best advice is remove yourself from the situation. There's also a lot of ego lifters so you may find a lot of wide eyes saying WTF are they doing! Lol! *Cleanliness - unfortunately you can't force people to take care of places like they would their own home so there is the occasional mishap of nasty where you're wondering if this persons home looks the same. *Turf - unfortunately these areas can be over run with trainers in session (outside) due to the nice weather or (inside) on certain days/times At the end of the day it's a great gym especially at the price point. read more

I'm a Gold member at this gym. The memberships are oversold, so anytime between 7-11 am; 3-830 pm it's difficult to get access to weights or coveted weight and ab machines. The cardio cinema should always be in closed captioning, but it isn't. When I request it, every visit the staff act as if it's a special request and many days I finish my hour workout in the cardio cinema without my request being approved. The sanitary stations upstairs and in the cardio cinema are always out of paper towels, at various times of the day, and much of the front desk staff is rude and/or unprofessional. I thought I'd be able to use my Gold membership anywhere, but as this is a franchise location, it's only good to use in other franchise locations, which are basically in Oblivion. The equipment is better than Planet Fitness, but at least Planet Fitness has room for you to work out. read more

This gym has so much potential but is an utter disaster. It's dirty, disorganized, and poorly managed. It's members take no pride or interest in helping to keep it neat or organized and it's management does nothing to enforce rules or hold members accountable. it's a nice sized gym full of various types of equipment, HOWEVER, it does have a tendency to get ultra crowded and hard to get on equipment, esp. on the first floor. I don't know if closing the other location near the magic johson theater is why it's always packed or people just taking advantage of the 9.99 monthly membership or a combination of both, but it is unbearable. I NEVER go in the center of the gym on the first floor to try to use anything, it's always super packed with groups of friends/high schoolers/trainers & clients (i thought i saw a sign that said no members can conduct personal training???) Then the locker room, ALWAYS has occupied lockers without any locks? how absurd is that? No member of the Gold's staff seems to do anything about that, and then many of the lockers are broken. That ticks me off that they don't fix many of the damaged lockers and the Gold's staff don't enforce using the lockers with A PROPER LOCK!! I try to go to early during the middle of the day BEFORE the evening crowd or late on the weekends when the crowd is gone. It can be nice when it's not as full, however, I will DEFINITELY be canceling when my year is up which is soon & can't b soon enough!! Maybe paying more monthly will get me what i want (a gym that is not super packed and access to any piece of equipment i want to use w/o it always being hogged by EVERYONE & their mother, may have to rejoin 24-hour fitness or unfreeze my LA fitness membership!!) read more

This golds gym's customer service is awful. The staff here are completely unhelpful. I specifically paid for a upgraded membership so that I would be allowed to bring in one guest each visit along with a handful of other amenities. Due to Covid they stopped allowing people on the upgraded memberships to bring in guests unless the guest paid for the $20 day pass. Not only was I never notified of this but I was also still charged the full amount for my membership. So of course I came to the gym with my guest expecting to use this feature of my membership. I was told my guest had to pay for a day pass. When I explained to the person working of the situation she was extremely intolerant and showed no compassion. I understand there are going to be changes due to Covid but if that is the case and certain amenities are not going to be available then the memberships should be downgraded in the meantime. I then spoke to the manager Ryan about the situation and he was extremely unhelpful as well as took a very dismissive tone with me trying to shame me out of making a review to warn other people of the bad customer service at this location. I understand that this policy change is not their fault but the people that work here are still the face of the company. There are a lot of other gyms in this area do not go to this one if you value customer service. read more

I joined this gym in March of 2018 and never had any issues- billing or otherwise. Even during the pandemic, I received reasonable accommodation to stopping billing- even though 3 months was laughable in the middle of a pandemic. Nevermind half their staff is and remains unable to accommodate Active and fit members. I completed what I thought and was led to believe was an account CONVERSION and instead they created another account, never told me I needed to cancel the old one and then enters Alexis, emailing me days before Christmas with some ludicrous offer to pay off a debt I never knew existed. I called and asked, "was this a joke," to which her unprofessionalism really began to shine through. Even after explaining the circumstances and why I don't believe the bill is legitimate, I received the most unprofessional and discourteous response. I have NEVERRRRR in my years of going here had such a headache and reporting this BS to my credit forced me to file complaints with the BBB and the Maryland Attorney General for their fraudulent and deceptive billing practices. It's not even the amount because that's nothing, it's the principle! I've never heard such laughable defenses for the indefensible and then to ban me from the gym when I've been a member longer than she's been an employee- AMAZING. Great gym. No complaints from me really besides muthafawkas refuse to re-rack their dumbbells, but that's not unique to gyms in this price range. There's a ton of eye-candy for the fellas and I heard for the ladies too, but that's also a drawback for some of my female friends apparently. The ladies say issa meat market so I guess it depends on your tolerance level for being gawked at lol. Anyway for the basic membership price you can't beat the space and amount if equipment. Most of the staff is friendly as well. It gets super packed between 4-8p FYI. Ok bye. read more

This location has the access to multiple equipments and a good place to workout. However, with COVID-19 restrictions this gym have not been following/enforcing protocol and Maryland has continuously shut this gym down. To make this gym better some of the employees have to go and if people can't follow rules during a global pandemic they have to have their membership suspended. Not to sound harsh, but this is a global pandemic and strict rules have to be followed and enforced. No excuses for multiple shutdowns. read more
