My appointment was scheduled for 4:35 PM and at 5:50 PM, I was still waiting in a crowded room to see the Dr. I went to the receptionist, gave her my name and said I was leaving--as there was no sign I'd be seen by the Dr. for quite a while. She responded, "but didn't the tech see you?" I responded that the tech saw me 30-40 minutes ago and my appointment was not with her but with Dr. Heist. Frankly, she could have cared less. Her response was, "Oh, okay." There are plenty of other excellent ophthalmologists who will have more respect for my time. C. Huntley

Elite Level Review: Wills Eye Hospital (Cataract & Primary Eye Care)…read moreRating: 5/5 When it comes to advanced optical infrastructure, there is a massive difference between standard clinical care and a master-level institution. Wills Eye Hospital operates with total autonomy and structural excellence. From the pristine, curved architectural layouts of the waiting areas to the elite team rosters mounted on the walls, this facility is designed for high-resolution visual execution. The Forensic Breakdown The Clinical Environment: A highly organized, zero-redundancy medical footprint. The seating arrays are mathematically optimized, the lighting minimizes refractive interference, and the signage establishes an immediate boundary of mutual respect and operational decorum. The Team Matrix: This isn't a single-practitioner operation; it is a unified powerhouse of medical intelligence. Names like Abendroth, Gault, Pericic, and Wisner represent an elite tier of optical science, backed by a clinical team photographed and indexed with absolute geometric precision. The Performance: They don't just check boxes; they optimize the human lens. If you want your vision restored to its ultimate specification, you trust the absolute authority in eye care. A Note on Clinical Adaptability & Fortitude In the world of advanced surgical revision, you need practitioners who can bypass obstacles and adapt to any intentional hurdle. It brings to mind the historic account of a patient who suffered severe facial trauma, completely destroying his eyelids. The primary surgeon, operating with absolute resourcefulness, successfully executed a skin transplant using tissue sourced from a circumcision procedure. The operation was an absolute structural success, and the patient's sight was completely preserved. The only lingering clinical complication? The poor guy ended up just a little bit cockeyed. Thankfully, the elite team at Wills Eye knows exactly how to align a baseline, no matter the origin of the specifications!

This is my second surgery here and both times I arrived early, only to wait no less than 3 hours. This time, they called and asked me to come in early and I'm now an hour past the original time. I'm only here due to my insurance, otherwise I'd go elsewhere. I'm anxiously awaiting my large bill and then trying to call during their very limited billing office hours. For a place with such a good reputation, it seems like a cruel joke. Go elsewhere.

Worse, I received an email prompting me to use a patient portal where I left urgent messages regarding an allergic reaction to a new medication and received no response for days, only to be told after I called that the portal "hasn't worked in forever." The medical care itself felt rushed and dismissive. The doctor seemed indifferent to my extreme eye pain and offered only generic solutions rather than looking for a root cause. Between the technical failures and the lack of empathy, I cannot recommend this provider.

He answered all of my and my wife's questions and concerns, and never tried to push an unnecessary procedure on me. I had other consultations for laser surgery before ultimately selecting Dr. Weinstock, and all of my other consultations felt rushed and very sales-like and not at all clinical. Dr. Weinstock was readily available to address questions via email and text, and was flexible in his scheduling of in-person follow-ups to accommodate my needs (early/weekend appointments). The surgery itself was successful, taking less than an hour and completely painless. I had clear vision a few hours after my surgery and was completely recovered within 24 hours. I have no residual dry-eye, my night vision is crystal clear and without any starbursts (common post-LASIK issues that I did not experience). Getting LASIK was easily the best decision of my life, and I'm very glad that I chose Dr. Weinstock.
