Tried Goldilocks again because it's so hard to find good Filipino food... but this visit was disappointing. Nothing really stood out, and the quality just isn't what it used to be (at least in my opinion). The bakery prices are also pretty steep for what you're getting. Drove out of my way for this, and sadly it wasn't worth the trip. I wanted to love it--but I don't see myself coming back.

Goldilocks is a staple from the Philippines. I grew up instilled that Goldilocks was the only place to get Filipino food. They have all the traditional food that you are familiar with plus the bakery. Service was great, they seat you right away. Ambiance is cafe style, gave me the Dennys feel with the rubber cracked leather booths and table. Food took about 10-15mins to be brought out which is normal for the Tapsilog and the fact there was only 3 tables being occupied including. Mine. I give it a 3 star because there was nothing impressive about the taste. Unfortunately, the competition of Filipino + Asian restaurants in the same plaza have in my honest opinion better taste and quality. Personally, I only come here for nostalgia and support because I would be sad if Goldilocks ever closed down at this location. But they need an upgrade. They definitely need to replace their dried out cake decorations in the front. Also update/change their menu and really cater to the new generation of foodies.

It's been good 6-7 year since the last time we dine-in here in Goldilocks. We decided to have our brunch after in laws morning appointment. Got lucky for a parking knowing it's hard to get one on a weekend close to the restaurant. Attentive staff from start to finish. It was 930AM but decided not to order breakfast items instead ordered our regular UBER orders. Ordered the following: Crispy Pata - it's a must for us! Crispy skin and juicy pata meat. Ordered Crispy Pata here five times last year through UBER since we just love how juicy and crispy it is. Pansit Canton - well seasoned and great amount of toppings i.e veggies and meat. Noodles not overcooked. Fresh Lumpia - not pictured. Fresh veggies wrapped in crepe with sweet savory peanut sauce completes the dish. Highly recommend if you're craving for some Filipino dishes.

4/17/2026 - I dropped in to buy these because they are so good. The smell, taste and very filling. They are called Siopao Pork Asado for $3.80 each. Buy 6, get a 7th for free. About $25 total. Walk in, go the right and about 15 feet in a display case to keep it nice and warm. I would have given this a 5, except for the following. They charge 10 cents a bag. Why? Also, when you pay with credit card, automatically asked for 15% tip and up. Hit other and place zero and walk out. I'm not tipping, you are a cashier I'm and not eating in. This is a to go order. The food here is amazing though. When you get home. Place in the frig, heat up in the microwave by placing water in a cup and heat to it boils. To make steam. Then wrap a damp paper towel around Siopao Pork Asado and place with the steaming water. Heat for 30-45 seconds and enjoy. Longer than 45 it will dry out the bun. Trust me.

Craving Crusher: Halo Halo Edition!! The Halo Halo craving hit us like a sweet, icy freight train, and naturally, we bee-lined it to Goldilocks... aka the Filipino carb kingdom. While we were at it, we snagged some breads and pastries to-go bc let's be honest, who doesn't need a backup snack plan? Now, we did have to wait a cool 20 mins for that magical dessert (which in Goldilocks time is practically "cooked-to-order" fast), but when that glorious, jelly-loaded, Ube-crowned masterpiece landed in our hands...oh yes... it slapped!!! Hard!!! Sweet, icy, crunchy, creamy... she's still got it!! Service? Let's just say the staff has mastered the art of expressionless efficiency. It's not rude, it's cultural ambiance. We don't come for the lack of smiles, we come for the sugar coma. Parking though? A full contact sport (lol IYKYK if you grew up in this hood you know about the parking brawls!!). If you don't see at least one uncle ready to square up over a space, is it even a Filipino plaza? Bring patience or a scooter!!! Or... park in the lot by the empty Big Lots & Joanne Fabric. Final verdict: Always worth it. Just maybe smiles from the staff would make these visits more enjoyable.

I don't really go here often because I live far from here so I have yet to give a proper review because I have more stuff to try. Upon walking in the ambiance is nice. Lots of items to choose from and staff is super friendly. I got the fresh lumpia to go which was good but kinda pricy. The parking lot is an absolute nightmare hard to find parking.

I recently had lunch at Goldilocks with a group of 15 people, and I have to say, it was a great experience! We called ahead that morning to make a reservation, which turned out to be super helpful since near half our group had flights right after lunch. When we arrived, our table was all set, and our server was there ready for us. She was really friendly and professional, and I appreciated her suggestions on what to try (even though we knew what we want The food came out quickly, and I'm happy to say it was all delicious! We devoured almost everything on the table. Goldilocks has always been a favorite of ours, and this visit definitely reaffirmed that. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Goldilocks food was tasty & served fast!! Located in National City, close to Daiso. 1420 E Plaza Blvd d7, National City, CA 91950 For a late lunch/dinner tonight, I ordered their Mami chicken soup: boneless chicken w/cabbage, celery, and carrots. Told the waiter to not include the boiled egg. For dessert, there's halo- halo (shaved ice mixed with condensed milk, ice cream, jackfruit, azuki beans, & etc). They also sell cakes on-site and they also can bake customized cakes for all occasions! For their bakery items- Their Mamon bread dessert is recommended. They have a classic mamon without cheese & they have the special mamon with cheese! Between $2.99 & $4.99

Before heading to a concert in Chula Vista, the three of us followed a recommendation from a Filipino friend and stopped by Goldilocks. There's also a bakery inside this restaurant. The décor is straightforward and no-frills, with a touch of nostalgia that makes it feel like it hasn't changed in a while. Now, let's talk about the food! The dishes aren't flashy or refined, just basic Filipino comfort food without the frills. We started with the Sizzling Sisig, which had that signature crispy and chewy texture but was a bit too oily and not as tangy as I was hoping for. The Chicken Adobo was tender and juicy, with a perfect balance of vinegar and soy sauce. The Sotanghon noodles were light and comforting, packed with veggies and chicken, making for a nice complement to the heartier dishes. To finish, we indulged in the Buko Pandan, a refreshing coconut dessert with pandan jelly that was the ideal light way to wrap up the meal. The portions were generous, and we left feeling satisfied and ready for a night of music.

    Bulalo soup, very bland

Really disappointed with their food. 1st the lady that our ordered kept on saying they sell "taho" like she was pushy about it so we ordered it and it was very disappointing. Idk how they can advertise it as taho. It was nasty and waste of money. Got an ordered ofsisig longganisa and it was burnt for something that cost almost $20 an order, you would think they would at least use whole longganisa instead it was shredded and probably only used not even quarter cup worth. It was very disappointing. Order of bulalo soup was bland. This place needs new cook/chef, for over priced food they really need to cook it better. Or else stick selling cakes and pastries. Also customer service sucks. Very slow

    rice medley
    Akira S.

Went to this Goldilocks location and it was amazing. I had the rice medley with lechon kawali and bagoong fried rice. The bagoong fried rice was perfectly seasoned and the mangoes and tomatoes had the perfect refreshing bite. The lechon was also delicious and went really well with everything. Service was great too, everyone there was very sweet and welcoming and made the eating experience feel like I was visiting family. The ambiance of the restaurant was very casual, I felt like I could comfortably eat there all day. I couldn't recommend this place enough for anyone, new to Filipino food or not, to come here and enjoy delicious meals and desserts.

They always have amazing food. Delicious. Service is great and the servers are friendly. Ambiance is okay. They're always busy. Everything is delish. I love their Kare-Kare and Pork BBQ.

Top: Garlic Rice; Bottom: Pork Sisig
    Andrea R.

Oh so delicious! Everything was a solid 15/10! The two of us split pork sisig, chicken adobo and garlic rice which totally filled us up. The sisig was perfectly seasoned and piping hot, so tasty I was fighting my boyfriend for the last bite! This was actually my first time trying chicken adobo and in my opinion, nothing will ever beat trying a new flavor for the first time--it was total taste bud nirvana! So rich in flavor and of course pouring some of the adobo sauce on rice really set everything off. All of it tasted fresh and we didn't have to wait very long at all for our food after ordering, but it wasn't very busy when we stopped by... it was more of an early dinner around 4:30. For dessert we had some refreshing Buko Pandan that I'm surprised we even finished after eating every last drop of our meal! And of course, we couldn't leave without picking up some bakery items and chicharon to take home. Of course, there is no heart to a restaurant/bakery without the staff... and Goldilocks' staff truly put a lot of love into what they do! We were taken care of by Imelda and Leo during our visit who were both so delightful, upbeat and sweet! I'm looking forward to trying out even more items from their menu and hopefully will have a party to go to soon so I can have a reason to buy one of their delectable looking cakes!

They sell their señorita bread in multiples of 5, and the price scales proportionally. They also have some packaged breads at the checkout counter and a display case with donuts and malasadas. I got 5 señorita breads for $4, and a guava malasada. When I was handed my bag of goods, the señorita breads were still warm! I've never had this type of bread before so I have no comparison. However, the fat, cigar-shaped breads were really satisfying while hot and fresh. They are buttery, sugary, and chewy inside. The texture was a bit homogenous for me, but still quite tasty. I had a second one hours later and it was not as nice. I think they would definitely benefit from a reheat if you have leftovers. The guava malasada was not my favorite. The jam inside was more musty than fragrant, and very artificially red. The dough itself was well-fried and soft, even fresh out of the refrigerator on the second day. I love the textural difference of the sugar crystals on the surface, compared to a traditional donut glaze. I ended up scooping the guava filling out of the middle and eating the fried bread. Overall, while I enjoyed the señorita breads, Chula Vista is a bit of a trek and I would not go out of my way to get them. I am interested in trying Starbread in the Bay, to see if they taste different.

They have a big variety of cakes all ready to go in their cake display. I chose the chocobombon since they didn't have any all vanilla cakes and this one had some vanilla in it and my husbands favorite is vanilla. I really liked that they had candles and cake decorations as well in the store and I bought a few Birthday embellishments which were all $1 each, great price! The staff was nice but not too friendly when I was trying to find out more about the cakes and flavors, I had to read the labels since she didn't provide me any details. The cake was just okay, it was very dense and a bit dry. The marshmallow frosting was a little thick and the overall flavors were definitely different but not sure I would get this flavor again. I would like to try a few more flavors and maybe a tres leches cake to see how those are. It is located in Chula Vista in a small shopping center, limited parking available.
