I was in severe pain and repeatedly expressed that to Dr. Natasha Boydstun and Nurse Brenda. My pain was dismissed from the beginning. I was told to "just take Tylenol and ibuprofen" and that was the extent of their pain management plan. After receiving a tetanus shot (my first since 1998), I was told I would be sent home with basic bandaging supplies and Surgifoam for aftercare. They never gave it to me. Let me be clear: when someone is in severe pain and likely in shock, it is not their responsibility to remind medical staff to provide the supplies they themselves said they would give. That is basic follow-through and basic care. When my pain worsened, I called multiple times asking for help. Instead of addressing it, I was told I would need to go to the ER to be reevaluated for the same pain I had reported from the start. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no urgency. I have never felt so dismissed by a medical team in my life. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone seeking basic competent and compassionate care. Ironically, my pharmacist showed more compassion and concern than the medical team who treated me. She took the time to listen and speak to me kindly, something I never received at this urgent care. And honestly, after this experience, it's no surprise the ratings for this location are so low. I would NOT recommend being seen by either of those two medical so-called professionals to anyone in the community seeking urgent care.

However I…read morecan't help but be frustrated that there's a lack of follow up when we aren't at the clinic My baby needed 2 ultrasound done and when we called to schedule with Radys they only allowed us to have 1 ultrasound done because the second could not be done due to the diagnosis. Apparently the diagnosis wasn't sufficient enough so the Santee clinic had to clarify. Despite our constant follow up nothing was sent from the clinic to radys. We went in and got 1 ultrasound done. Only a day or two after we were approved for the second. We received our bill and we have to pay $750 for the ultrasound and now we have to go back for the 2nd and pay another $750 bill. If we just had gone there and done both scans in 1 visit we could have avoided this. Because of the Lack of follow up from the clinic we have to pay even more out of pocket and more time spent when it should have not happened. I hope scripps understands there are families that don't have the luxury to waste money

I am happy to see that he has made the list four years in a row now. He does not make you feel rushed and answers any and all questions. He explains things without making you feel like you need to change this and this about your lifestyle, even though it is implied that you really should try to take better care of yourself. He even answers questions unrelated to your situation if asked. His support staff is adequate, not overly friendly but definitely not rude or mean. He also tries to help make prescriptions less costly if he can.

My wife and I both had Dr Lin for a long time, my wife, for 30 years or so. So it's a hard change and sharp was definitely not helping. But I really needed a caring Dr and Dr Ortega appealed to me. Yes, she was upfront about my medication combination and that it would need to change. But that's what I needed, just for someone to take the time to talk with me and be understanding. I still haven't met her in person, but she has done more for me,as a patient and person, than all of the other doctors sharp passed me through. I even had the on call Dr that works with Dr Zanotti, tell me, "you saw someone else and even know they aren't taking on your care, we won't anymore either" Nice But, I really appreciate Dr Ortega's time and efforts to, again, treat me like a human being, not just a patient. I have chronic back pain and am due for my second spinal fusion, which is fine as long as I have a doctor to help me through and in the end help me manage my pain, eventually, without narcotics. I don't use or drink, but when you are in this much pain you can get stuck on this garbage. Which doesn't work for someone who is physical and has a family. It's rushed, and none of the physicians really seem to want to get to the root cause of an issue? Or else you've done your own research and want to try a medical path with YOUR body but none of the physicians are willing to help? Dr Ortega is different mainly because she LISTENS. She hears your concerns and offers real, actionable, and valuable solutions. Often even ones from her own personal health experiences. Even more, she's willing to listen to things you want to try and doesn't immediately shoot them down. It's like having a friend who happens to have an MD. I can't recommend her enough. Having worked my way through a series of doctors, I'm so grateful to have found her!
