I went here with my girlfriend, who has a peanut allergy. We asked our server, the manager, and this other kid worker to confirm they did not use peanuts. However, my girlfriend had a life-threatening allergic reaction, which has only ever happened from peanuts. She had to use 2 epipens and was rushed to the hospital. All after multiple employees assured us they did not use peanuts. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! read more

Great place for quick and yummy chinese food! The sushi has been phenomenal every time. The general tsos chicken and crab rangoon have also been delicious! Never going to eat at Golden Wok again. I am disgusted with the fact that we got scammed there this evening. We went to pay our $43 tab with a $25 gift card and $20 with $7 in ones as a tip. Somewhere between the waitress running the gift card and the other cashier trying to run the gift card, the $20 bill went missing. Not only were they rude about the entire situation, they also embarassed us by saying we only put $7 in there. I ended up having pay the entire bill with cash because they couldn't even figure out how to ring in the gift card ‍ I don't understand how someone could accuse the customer of not paying the correct amount. Maybe whoever took the $20 needed it more than I do, however stealing is illegal and to treat a customer so rudely on top of it?!?!?!!! I will NEVER EVER support their business again! read more

Looking for a great Chinese style restaurant, a relative I was visiting (I am from California) highly recommended the Golden Wok in Erie PA. So I checked the Yelp reviews-looked good. I came in for lunch with my fiance and was immediately greeted by a very polite hostess, who immediately seated us. There were others in the restaurant and in the Sushi Bar area, so I took a peak at the food. Looked absolutely delicious. I walked around the restaurant (see pictures) and found it to be very clean, including the restroom. The decor was nice giving me a very relaxed feeling. I ordered a vegetarian luncheon special ($7 each) with hot tea and a soft drink. Obviously fresh made using excellent vegetables. My fiance ordered a egg plant with brown rice-really good! Definitely worth visiting. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, why you may ask because you now charge a fee when u order over phone. You took over 25 minutes to even grab the take out order. The food was never good and now got my mom very sick! And I will never be going here ever again. It made me give a rating and I couldn't leave it blank this is a zero star company. read more

We have been eating take out from Golden Wok for many years but tonight was our best meal ever! We ordered sweet and sour soup, wonton soup, Singapore and House Special, Chow me fun, and pork egg foo young. The meals were delivered promptly and each dish was hot, fresh and delicious. They gave us chopsticks, napkins and utensils and of course lots of sauces. If you're unsure, give them a chance, they're a favorite in our house! read more

What was a go to is now likely an avoid. Not because of the quality of the food itself but the poor service. It seems while the website has the option to order for a future time they either don't get the message or ignore it. When their mistake is pointed out they don't care and expect you to still take an order of sushi left sitting out for 90 minutes. $40 bucks straight in the trash. I was surprised to see this place in Erie, PA and I'm glad I stopped in. Interesting Facts: I don't know if napkins are on a ration in this place, but I asked the waitress for some napkins and she walked all the way across the room and brought me one. Ha, I was trying not to laugh, but yeah I mean are you afraid I'd waste them? They don't give you small plates to move your food over from the serving tray, so again it's a money saving tactic, but still takes away from the customer experience. The sushi had more of a fishy smell than I'm used to, but it's Erie and they don't have a huge market for sushi connoisseur's so I understand. I was just glad I found a place in town that was reasonably priced with a decent menu. When the waitress brought my sushi I had to ask for chopsticks. Most sushi restaurants have chopsticks on the table, so I couldn't help but look around and see what other people were using - WOW, forks. They were eating sushi with forks! Ah, I understood why she assumed I wouldn't need them so I stopped judging the place and enjoyed my food. The only complaint I had was the sushi rolls were so big I couldn't fit them in my mouth. I have a big enough mouth, but the rolls were the size of my fist. I put one in my mouth and didn't have room to chew. You cannot bite into a rolled piece of sushi because it will fall apart so technically it made it difficult to eat. I just picked out of the middle of it and left the large outer wrap of rice. The pieces of sashimi that I ordered were perfect in every way! Even though it wasn't a 5 star experience I still enjoyed myself. read more

Yaki udon beef is great, I had never had it before, so I took a chance, it reminded me of a mixture of their beef with broccoli [without the broccoli], and their lo mein but BETTER, with bigger noodles... it was incredible... then I ordered their curry chicken, that was great too... After hearing about this place, we decided to give it a try via take out. While pulling into the parking lot, I noticed that there wasn't an empty space to be found. Once inside, there was a line near the front desk of people waiting for their take out. While waiting, I noticed that on the sushi dining room side was empty but in the main dining room was full. Next, I noticed a man at a table pulling a bottle of vodka out of his pocket and pouring it into his Coke! This was kinda strange until I noticed the BYOB sign while on my way out. We ordered the Hibachi dinner to go. It came with a soup, salad, rice, veggies and the filet. Overall, I found the meal rather bland and the filet was a little on the fatty side. There was noone there when I ordered takeout, so they made everything fresh and pretty quick too. I ordered a spicy salmon roll with really low expectations since there are not many japanese places in the area. The fish was surprisingly good and the rice was decent). However, the chinese food I ordered (lo mein) was awful... I had a hard time eating it. I would recommend sticking to the japanese side. At least the portion sizes and prices are decent. read more

I was repeatedly told that they didn't have my order, it's almost ready, we're bagging it now, and finally, we couldn't call you because we don't have your number. I'm sad to give such a poor review to what I believe to be pretty decent American Chinese food, but I can't overlook the horrendous experiences we've had trying to get an order delivered. The food has always been fresh and delicious, but the three times we've ordered delivery, the order was extremely late, wrong, or both. The most recent time we ordered food, it took almost two hours for it to arrive. We called the restaurant at the 1 hour mark to see where it was and were told it was "almost there." When our food did arrive about an hour later, we were asked to pay for it (which we'd already done via credit card), add the tip (which we'd also already done via credit card), and then the driver gave us food that we didn't order. When we asked where our food was, he admitted that he must have delivered it to the previous customer. The driver returned another half hour later with our food, but we were missing part of our order because the customer who'd mistakenly gotten it had started to eat it. The driver offered to go back to the restaurant, get a new order of that item, and we accepted, but he never came back. I was absolutely furious that we paid for the food and were not offered any reconciliation for these huge mistakes. We even called the restaurant and told them about what happened! They did nothing! I wish I could say this is the first time we've had an issue with delivery, but it isn't. Bottom line, if you're going to order food from this place, go pick it up. NEVER get it delivered. It'll be a huge disaster every single time. read more

As a native Japanese, this review may sound harsh but I will try to be honest. It was my first time visit. Got a seat at the sushi bar. Here is a problem number 1. The sushi chef has almost zero ability to speak English. I just wanna know how could they put him at the sushi bar where the customers interact with the chef?? I asked him where he learned sushi and it took like 2 minutes to get a right answer. Problem number 2. I ordered sushi deluxe. It was nicely done but each sushi (nigiri) portion was very small. Here I am talking about the size of sushi rice. The deluxe came with tuna (maguro) x2, salmon x2, unagi (eel) x1, yellowtail (hamachi) x1, shrimp x1, octopus (tako) x 1, and spicy tuna rolls. I am not a big fan of spicy tuna roll and I did not much care for. It would be nicer if there are options to choose from besides the spicy tuna roll. Problem number 3. The sushi deluxe comes with either salad or miso soup. I chose the latter. It was probably one of the worst miso soup I've ever had. It tasted like some kind of chemical and it was just gross. Miso soup is Japanese soul food and I felt they degraded our dish terribly. I make it at home all the time and I can cook far better than what they serve. For those reasons above, I cannot give more than 2 stars. Later on, a different chef came to the sushi bar. He looked familiar and I found he used to work at Aoyama in Millcreek Mall. He speaks English well and the communication was not an issue. I was already full by that time he showed up so I was not able to enjoy his servings. I can still give them another chance since I should try other dishes than sushi but they really need to fix the problem #1 and #3 above. read more

Long time customer. Food is good but their set up for covid regs is ridiculous. Not worth your time until things go back to normal or they let you in to get your orders. Poorly handled covid procedures. They want you to give your credit card numbers so they can write it down and keep for how long? No thanks. I don't trust my bank with my credit card numbers I'm sure as heck not giving them to a Chinese restaurant. When they can scan cards and let you in I'll be back. We got: beef fried rice: DELISH Szechwan tofu: DELISH veggie lo mein: good i guess? forgot to ask the eater wonton soup: above aberage sweet and sour chicken: average general tso tofu, ordered extra spicy: DEEEEEELISH Ordered online, easy as can be. This is not the best chinese I've ever had. It is waaaayyyyy better than those places that have the pictures of the meals illuminated behind the counter. And the cost... $30. If you're craving good, fresh, (American style) Chinese food - Golden Wok is where it's at. While it has many of the typical selections of other Chinese restaurants in the area - except the quality of the ingredients stands out over all the others. Everything tastes fresher, hotter, and just BETTER. The dine-in area is even pretty nice and quiet. It's quick, relatively unhealthy, and cheap. They deliver until they close (which was helpful for me, when I just couldn't pull myself off the couch and turn off The Big Lebowski to make a trip to get some food). Chef Young serving sushi here now. Excellent sushi, first time I've had uni, which was fantastic. Came in today for round two. Fatty salmon belly, salmon, yellow tail scallops and a Alaskan roll. Only downside is it's byob. Highly recommend. Service is excellent! read more

We stopped for lunch and ask for the large dinner portions of General Tso's chicken - Extra Spicy. 1. The waitress did not add the "Extra Spicy" when she yelled the order to the kitchen staff. 2. We asked her to make sure it was Extra Spicy - she just nodded. 3. When our meal came it was SWEET- not spicy, with the wrong rice. BUT the final straw : 4. SEWER FLIES followed the food from the kitchen and then the waitress tried to brush them off the food and still expected us to eat it. That is when we got and left. read more
