Had lived in beijing for 12 years, I had to say this restaurant is NOT authentic, they don't have a…read morelot of real beijing fishes, more like just a general northern cuisine. The service was a little bit slow, they have a little screen between the guests and the servers so it's hard to get their attention. The food is ok, I had a big piece of metal sponge in my good, they took it back and take that off the check and gave me 20% off the total bill, but its still unsanitary and dangerous if I didn't see it and sallow it, it will be very dangerous: The lamb spine pot is really good flavor, really big pieces of lamb inside as well. Good for the value. Their skewers are very over priced.

We had a decadent Chinese New Year feast here, complete with the whole steamed fish tray, noodles,…read moreand lotus with sweet rice for dessert. The fish is an absolute must. It comes in a big silver tray with heating below so it stays warm and stewing while you eat. The fish is tender and flavorful, having soaked up all the decadent chiles and spices. You can also order add-ins to include in the stew such as potatoes, bamboo, tofu... whatever you're in the mood for. The lotus stuffed with sweet sticky rice was a first for me but provided a nice light finish to the meal that was just the right balance of sweet and fresh. Also, if you're directionally challenged like me, yes the restaurant is the one with all the hotpot signs in front! We saw many people doing different styles of hotpot as well as grilled skewers which we will definitely be returning for. The flavors are Real at Real Beijing.

I understand why this place has received such poor reviews and only 2.5 stars. Despite (one of the)…read moreowners working very hard (white hair Guy in a suit and tie), most of staff are pretty clueless and have no idea what they are doing. Very lazy too I feel. Food wise, it is a hit or miss. Being a Hong Konger, we are very particular about our dim sum and the freshness of the food served to us. (We can tell) there are many occasions, espeically on a weekday, that overnight dim sum is served, which is pretty awful yet common for Chinese restaurants in London. I visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and the restaurant was very busy. Apart from the owner who gave attentive service, the rest of staff were again day dreaming and clueless. The food today was mediocre. Steamed dishes were OK, but one of the "za Leung", fried dough was not fresh.

Firstly, this place is out of the way. In Colindale it's above Finchley on the northern line. This…read moreisn't a terrible thing. If you love food and know TFL like any Londoner you'll be there in no time. I did go by car but i know it's not the worst to get to considering an equivalent to South options. It does also mean less of a queue if any. This area is certainly like something from Truman show. A bit artificial and strange when I walk out of parking and looked around. We turned up for lunch and my friends virtually ordered the whole menu. We of course came for dim sum and as well 10 selections of dim sum we ordered chicken feet, other dishes and dessert. It was all good and the best bit is that for a place rated so highly by Giles Coren as the bet in England the £17 per head we paid and got stuffed was excellent. I can't help but feel only half the dishes made me stand up and go wow is come back. I have to be honest and say I have no clue of the names of the ones I loved. There were about 4/5 but if I do search out and remember exactly then I will update. But it's worth a dim sum booking with a big group to share. And good value.
