I also brought my mom, who had her Mother of the Bride dress hemmed and cups added, and was happy with the result. I brought my wedding dress to Elizabeth and she made fun of my dress…read more Her review of my dress was so scathing that I had to buy a new dress because I felt so bad about my dress. She said, "I knew a bride who was mortified that the 3D flowers were glued onto her dress" - while trying to rip a 3D flower off my dress to show me it was glued. Then she showed me a seam on my dress and said, "see I would never do a seam that looks like that". I felt like crying during the appointment, it was a truly awful experience. I wouldn't recommend Elizabeth to anyone solely based on her extremely poor customer service skills. I'm making this review because I don't want anyone else to feel how I did when dealing with Elizabeth.

High Price, Disappointing Results…read more I'm sharing my experience with this tailor in a neutral and factual way, hoping it will be helpful to others. Before coming here, I had visited two other tailors but chose not to leave my coat with them for various reasons. I mentioned this to the tailor. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try. When I arrived, the tailor spoke at length about his experience and the places he had worked around the world. The price quoted was $75 plus tax, which is higher than what other tailors had offered, but I decided to proceed based on his confidence and self-presentation. I requested a sleeve shortening and specifically asked for the stitching to match the original. When I picked up the coat, I was disappointed. The sleeve stitching was not straight and did not match the original style, which was surprising given the emphasis on his 20+ years of experience. Overall, my experience was not very positive, especially considering the higher price compared to other tailors.

For almost $100, I took a dress worth $1000, and they made it look worth less than $100…read more Initially, my dress had looked something like the first image. My only issue with the dress, was that it was too long in the front. I asked to keep the dress long, but that I needed the front a bit shorter so I could walk without tripping. I had expected the altered result to look something like the second image. However, the dress came out with an added seam and unevenly long. The dress itself and the tail were now two different parts, and the dress flowed completely differently. Not to mention, despite the ends of the dress being trimmed, there was two added seams making something that looked like a belt pattern in the middle of the torso. Nothing was mentioned about this, and it looked terribly odd only in the front and with a backless dress. When visiting, the change rooms were dark and had almost no light, minus the light shining in from the other side of the curtain. I had brought in my dress 4 days before needing it. However, on the day of needing it, a few hours before I was supposed to pick it up, I was asked to come in again because he had forgotten to mark the dress. I trusted Silk Tailor with a dress I had genuinely loved so much, and had needed for an important event, and now I'm left with a dress I feel ashamed to wear to such a special occasion. I'm planning to completely replace the dress if I can. I'm not sure if the images are posting properly, there should be 8 of them. They might not be in order as well, so just go by photo caption.

She then added that I should lose some weight for the dress to look even better. I am not overweight and I felt beautiful and confident in my dress. No matter what, no bride deserves to hear these kinds of comments in her wedding dress. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. It made me doubt myself and cry for hours. Do not go here. I ended up taking my gown elsewhere for alterations.

I bought a size 12 gown with beading and lace that needed to be altered to a size 4 - in 2 1/2 months! They were patient, accommodating and detailed in their work. They even came in on days off to see me when I could not make regular business hours to ensure I got my dress on time. They had to move lace and overlay, fix beading, add cookies and ribbon, and so much more. It was all done perfectly and my dress was an absolute hit! They listened to my concerns, and made sure it fit how I wanted. It was a showstopper, and all thanks to them. Excellent altering requires excellent skill. These ladies have it. You will be charged what their time and expertise is worth, and believe me, it's worth it. Thank you Lilit and team for taking such good care of me and my dress for my special day, you made it the wedding of my dreams!

As soon as it was ready, I got a text and walked right over to pick it up. I know that you have to pay for good craftsmanship but it is still worth noting that the prices are not on the cheaper side, so review their website and you won't get sticker shock. To hem this gown, it was $75 PER LAYER and surprise, there were three layers... so you can see how these things might up. I was in a rush, so I bit the bullet this time. I would still return for smaller jobs. The space is very lovely, airy, basically conditions you wish all tailors could work in. The prime location is hard to beat (for me) and that is probably also reflected in the costs. Love this spot! Just know you're signing up for.

I first visited Pom in March 2015 to start altering my wedding dress for my June 2015 wedding. She also altered two other dresses for me. My wedding dress was much too large and had to be sized down. She did a wonderful job and did not ruin any of the beading and embroidery that covers my entire dress. Pom also will make suggestions to make your dress even better. Two of my bridesmaids also brought their dresses to Pom and they were happy with the result. Pom responds to email very quickly and will take photos of you to help you see how the dress is coming along! She is quite talkative so expect to meet 45 mins to an hour :)

She is definitely knowledgeable in dress alterations and even period gowns. The best way to contact Pom is via email, which she checks and responds to very quickly. When I first called her, she asked that I email her with a photo of myself in the dress, wedding date and contact information. From the photo, she was able to give a rough estimate of how much she would charge. It really impressed me that it wasn't far off from how much I actually paid her in the end. You will be required to give her a deposit on your first visit but she was pretty relaxed about how much you can pay. Each visit is about 45 minutes and I got to see her work on some final touches on my last visit. Her prices were very reasonable and she is an extremely skilled and efficient worker. I highly recommend her and she was definitely an enjoyable part of my wedding planning process.
