They'll all readily grapple with students and will go into as much detail or walk through/demo as many scenarios as you ask for to get total understanding. Tryfon has also completely blown me away with how knowledgeable he is about jiu jitsu, but how that also translates into real life. Especially when listening to him talk to the kids' class, he gives great lessons, real-world applications, and lays out fair expectations while also encouraging his students to do their best. He's truly a natural leader, and it's good to know that someone so genuine is at the heart of this dojo. Some other reviews have mentioned it as well, but both the instructors and the other students are super friendly, and most folks of all belt colors introduced themselves to me during my first week, making me feel very welcomed. Not only that, but being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and using they/them pronouns, is so validating hearing all the instructors not only adapt their language to correctly use them, but to ALSO hear them correct others when I get misgendered by someone who may not be as familiar. I am so glad that NBJJ was where I decided to start my martial arts journey, because I'm hooked on the sport, and I already feel at home in the dojo! Oss!

Recently, I wanted to send our kids back, and Baldwin asked me to call to find a solution. However, instead of working toward an agreement, he was dismissive, unwilling to resolve the situation, and ultimately disrespectful. I'm actually glad we experienced this side of him now--because we would never want to expose our kids to someone who acts this way. If you run a business, respect should be at the foundation. Being bossy or disrespectful is not how you treat customers, and it's certainly not how you run a business.
