I'm a martial arts newbie, and I'm so glad I joined NBJJ, because I couldn't imagine being as…read moresuccessful or as welcomed as I am at this dojo! All the instructors are incredibly kind, extremely knowledgeable, and super humble. They'll all readily grapple with students and will go into as much detail or walk through/demo as many scenarios as you ask for to get total understanding. Tryfon has also completely blown me away with how knowledgeable he is about jiu jitsu, but how that also translates into real life. Especially when listening to him talk to the kids' class, he gives great lessons, real-world applications, and lays out fair expectations while also encouraging his students to do their best. He's truly a natural leader, and it's good to know that someone so genuine is at the heart of this dojo. Some other reviews have mentioned it as well, but both the instructors and the other students are super friendly, and most folks of all belt colors introduced themselves to me during my first week, making me feel very welcomed. Not only that, but being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and using they/them pronouns, is so validating hearing all the instructors not only adapt their language to correctly use them, but to ALSO hear them correct others when I get misgendered by someone who may not be as familiar. I am so glad that NBJJ was where I decided to start my martial arts journey, because I'm hooked on the sport, and I already feel at home in the dojo! Oss!

They create such a great learning environment for kids. The instructors teach excellent techniques in a way that is engaging, supportive, and age-appropriate, while also maintaining high standards. The school does a wonderful job of making it both safe and fun, and it is filled with so many great kids. The owners are clearly highly invested in making it a great school, and that really shows in every aspect of the experience. The space is always clean, it is well priced, and it truly feels like a worthwhile investment in our children's self-discipline, self-defense, and confidence. We are so grateful to have found Old School Martial Arts and would highly recommend it to any family looking for a positive, supportive, and empowering place for their kids.

They understand the importance of fundamentals that so often get overlooked at other gyms. This place has helped me a lot in so many ways, even during one of the most challenging times in my life. I want to highly recommend Maria Molina as a personal trainer at the Bay Club, Marin. I initially…read morestarted working with Maria to recover from a knee injury. I wanted to strengthen my leg muscles so that I could return to playing tennis. As someone who is over 80 yrs old, I was somewhat skeptical that weight training could make a big difference in my athletic abilities but one year and half later of training with Maria and I believe I'm more physically fit than I was in my 40's. Everything is easier (i.e., walking up stairs, carrying heavy loads, keeping up with grandkids ,etc.) To say my quality of life has improved due to my work with Maria is an understatement, Maria is a consummate professional. She explains exercises clearly, pays attention to form and keeps sessions motivating and enjoyable. One day when I was lifting weights on my own at the gym, a gentleman commented, "I see that you are experienced with weight lifting, Your form is perfect. You must have been doing this for many years." I give Maria full credit for teaching me the right (safe) way to lift. I occasionally have a few sore muscles but recovery is quick after a workout. Probably the most important thing I've learned from Maria is to believe in myself. Sometimes she tries a new exercise that I think is impossible for me to achieve, let alone master. Her confidence is unwavering and has a profound effect on my mental attitude. I see few women my age working out with weights at the Bay Club. I hope this review will encourage someone who is considering personal training to contact Maria. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish with her expert guidance.

On my tour, the employee was so nice, but the facility itself was a big turn off. Bay Club is a catch all gym, from kids and teens running in the halls, to older ladies that never sweat but wear their teeny outfits while they hit on young guys, to rude people sweating all over equipment and not wiping it down after. The vibe gave me the icks. The women's locker room was dirty, with wet towels and trash scattered about. The members don't keep the area clean, and the staff isn't quick enough to clean up these gross items left strewn about. Needless to say, I didn't join Bay Club.
