It's a small quaint gym located in an easy to find area with always ample parking (street and behind building). It's clean, organized, and has plenty of equipment. This review is only attestation of the lessons received by Levon, I don't do classes here. I believe I started training with him back in 2015 or so, with a little break here and there. Last I trained with him was maybe back in 2021 (?) so I've really been out of commission since then. My first session back was yesterday and here I thought I'd have an easy one - but he brought me perfectly to my max without overdoing it. He pushed me again and went at another session this morning - perfect workout. He seemed to remember where we left off but also making sure I didn't over do it but yet read my breathing and gave me the needed breaks. This gym is nice and a perfect size for small classes, it's also kind of nice that it's not packed with people and an audience.

I also study Tai Ji Chuan with Sifu Jensen which is an effective martial art and a great way to help center the mind and body while promoting the healthy flow of Qi or energy. It along with Qi Gong are excellent for those who are not physically able to join the Kung Fu class, as well as individuals looking to combine movement with meditation. I love the combination of Kung Fu and Tai Ji and feel that it helps to complete the picture. I have personally gained so much. Physically I have never felt better. Shawn, the instructor who teaches at the same time is excellent, he interacts with the children, encourages them, gives positive feedback, and creates a supportive learning environment. The kids in his group seem engaged and confident. However, the female instructors assigned to the other group have been very disappointing. They show the course once and then mostly stand and watch. There is very little interaction, no encouragement, and no guidance throughout the class. These are 4- and 5-year-old children who need support, engagement, and positive reinforcement. I rarely hear a "good job" or see active coaching. Week after week, the level of enthusiasm and involvement from these instructors has been lacking. For young children especially, energy, facial expression, encouragement, and interaction make a huge difference in their experience and development. I truly hope the program can ensure a consistent standard of quality across all instructors, because the difference between groups is very noticeable.

My hope is she will never need to leverage the techniques John taught her, but now she has the tools to defend herself if/when necessary. John's approach is very effective. He brings the right tools to train on self-defense and understands how to communicate to the student - including providing relevant stories and examples to make it relatable. Every young woman should go through a course like this: - Situational awareness: How to avoid being in a bad situation (when you are alone, when you are with a male 'friend' who has different intentions, or when you are with friends at 'gatherings' with 'beverages'). - Self-defense: How to defend yourself from an 'friendly' who is aggressive or a true aggressor (how to get out of 'uncomfortable' situations, how to get out of common physical 'holds', and how to fight back). I highly recommend and we will be back for a refresher before my daughter goes off to college.
